  1. I put together a small video of a few hours frog fishing at Faylor Lake in central PA. Trying to get better at this video editing thing, but wanted to share it since I know there are a few guys here that fish this lake! Enjoy!
  2. Let us know what area in western PA. I know a good number of lakes out that way.
  3. I prefer Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifiers for both spinning and casting, but I dont think there is overall a best. I have used Lews and Abu Garcias before, both make a great selection of reels. As far as whats best it all depends on what your using it for and how you like it. For example, I dont like the way the Lews fit in my palm but my buddy loves them.
  4. I have found myself using the Bass Pro Shops Paddle Tail Shad a lot for swim-jig trailers lately and have been doing quite well. I usually pair it up with a Dirty Jigs swim-jig. The only time I do not use a trailer is if they are short striking it, even then I will sometimes add a trailer hook just like you would on a spinnerbait.
  5. I have used some Peppers spinnerbaits a few years back. The only thing I didn't like is that I felt like the wire was a little stiff, which in my opinion reduces the vibration and action. I now use Sick Custom Baits spinnerbaits and destroy fish on them pretty much all year.
  6. Id ask the locals or some of the guys that you'll be fishing with to see what works well there or what they are going to be using and get 1 of each or something like that just to get you through that event. From there, just like Bluebasser86 said, add a few things here a few there. I started working on a farm at 15 and spent every single dollar on fishing stuff, I asked for only fishing stuff or money for birthday and Christmas. I traded everything I owned for fishing stuff. Don't worry, before you know it you'll have a good selection!
  7. Mattowoman Creek...Tight Lines!
  8. I do a fair amount of wading, which is close enough to bank fishing. I have been recently using a 5.11 Tactical Bail Out Bag. It has been working great the last few years. I can easily fit about 15 packs of plastics and a small box of about 13 to 15 hard baits and still have the pocket on the back empty. I usually carry just 1 rod since i'm out all day, but I have on occasion carried a second one by tucking the butt of the rod in my belt behind me. Tight Lines!
  9. I would try on Facebook pages Fishing the Susquehanna River or Fishing the Juniata River. There are quite a few guys on there that frequent that area, someone should reply...hope this helps. Good luck!
  10. The first thing you'll wanna do is slow down, then once you think you've slowed down, slow down some more. I have fished those exact conditions many times on local creeks. Find deeper pockets and eddies and take your time fishing them. I have always had luck working tubes and hair jigs slowly in these areas. The jerkbait wouldn't be a bad choice either, id drift it through pockets. Even with the air temp dropping significantly, since the water temp was 57 last weekend its still gonna at least be in the mid to upper 40's. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  11. I have a 2013 Dodge Dart and have been car topping my Jackson Big Rig for 2 years now. At first I was using those metal tubes that have the foam blocks on them but they are the most unstable thing out there for going over 30 mph. Last year I bought some Malone VersaRail Bare Roof bars, now I can just toss it on, run 2 straps over it and its solid. I have had it up to 80 mph and it didn't budge. Here is the link - http://www.basspro.com/Malone-VersaRail-58-Bare-Roof-Cross-Rail-System/product/14102905570055/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
  12. Creek, or cricks as we call em in PA, are my specialty. I have logged over 40 smallies over 4 lb, 11 over 5 lb, and 1 over 6 lb out of my favorite creek. Creeks are often underestimated and it's nice to see everyone giving the creeks the love they deserve! Keep catching em! Ian
  13. I love the different colors of smallies!
  14. I would just try some basics such as a Jig/trailer, texas rigged ribbontail worm, and a senko. See if you can work them up with that. Early in the morning and last thing in the evening at my local ponds I can usually do very well on bluegill colored spinnerbaits. Does the pond have any cover in the deeper part? Is it spring fed or stream fed? Ian
  15. Welcome! Im in Juniata County. Tight Lines, Ian
  16. I was not wanting to car top a 100 lb kayak much more, so a few weeks ago I bought a trailer from Harbor Freight. Its inspected and plate should be here this week. Over the weekend I finally got to build it up. Its not completely done yet, still needs sealed, painted, and some more bells and whistles, but here she is! Tight Lines, Ian
  17. I am north of Harrisburg but frequent the Pitt area a few times a year. There are some great ponds out there. Ian
  18. That's great!!! I like when i'm in my Jackson Tuna which is a tandem and people say "Is that made for two people?", as they look at the 2 seats...
  19. Though I have never fished that canal, I have fished a canal in Harrisburg and down well. Canals can be great places since they are often overlooked by bass anglers. The best way to find out would be to go dunk some line in it lol.
  20. I suggest looking at any local clubs and checking their schedule for any open tournaments, or join the club, it's a great way to learn. Another way would be to go to a marina and ask about it. There is a few marinas on waters here that have buddy tournaments or lunker tournaments that are open to any angler. Hope this helps!
  21. I focused on finding some new water this year, specifically creeks. The best fishing I had this year was early fall, both for numbers and size. I fished some new areas and was very impressed with the quality of fish but not the quantity. I have been spending a lot of time on my map software, next year will be very interesting!
  22. You are 100% correct.
  23. If you venture over in the area northwest of Harrisburg I can give ya a number of good spots. Ian
  24. I am taking my dad there for his birthday. It's entirely a surprise and he will not know until Wednesday night. This is my first time attending an Elite Series event and I cannot wait, we made the plans in March so I have been waiting a while...so worth it though i'm sure!!! We are staying right there at Penns Landing so I am hoping to bump into a few of the pros there. Ian
