  1. I run a Lowrance Elite 9 FS on my console. BUT....Twice a year when I go and fish a deep reservoir, I will mount my old Lowrance 9" Ti to the bow of my boat, and electrical tape my extra 2D transducer to my trolling motor. Have I hit the big times as well!??!?! 🤣
  2. He qualified once already, but it was under the old opens format. He won 2 classics back to back then left, and was readmitted using the Legend exemption. Brandon Palanuik and Gerald Swindle both returned to BASS using the Ledgend exemption a few years back. I remember, because I remember Ike saying he could have used the legend exemption, but said he wanted to requalify again thru the opens.
  3. They don't boot anyone to make a spot for a legend exemption. Its added on after all the other qualifications are done. If you win a classic or AOY you get a legend point. You can use that point to gain access back into the Elite series. Since he won 2 classics he had 2 legend points, so he beat out anyone with only 1 legend point that applied to rejoin via legend exemption for the 2024 season.
  4. Heading up to TB tomorrow for a few days. Anyone been out there recently and know where there is some good grass? I heard Housen has a bunch and that there is some around 1215/blue lake. I'm staying on San Miguel, I'll run to Housen if the wind allows, I was just wondering if anyone knew of any other areas that are holding a good bit of grass?

  6. Two weeks ago my fish finder recorded 96.2, in a shallow tidal pond 3-4' deep. Bite wasn't on fire by any means, but you get some to commit.
  7. Most of the time I go dark. Usually just Black and Blue. Sometimes I'll just straight white, but I'd say 8 outta 10 times I'm going dark.
  8. My brother and discovered this by accident as well during our trip to Lake Guntersville last week. Played out the same exact way as you described. It was a lot of fun.
  9. I do just about all of my bass fishing in the marshes of SE Louisiana. If I tell someone I caught them deep, then I probably caught them in 5-6'. I'd say 90% of my fish come from 2-4' of water. As annoying as it makes the bass fishing learning curve, shallow/deep are a relative term to body of water and clarity. As far as depth changes, where I'm at, a small ditch running across a grassy pond with a depth change of 1' can make a big difference. There have been many times where I've caught fish in the trenches left by lower units that are less than 6" difference in depth from the rest of the surrounding area.
  10. Whopper Plopper A-Rig-I know they catch fish. I think I threw mine 3 casts, got snagged in 20' and broke off. Never tied one on again.
  11. My standard drive is about 45-1 hour depending on traffic. I'll drive up to about 2 hours for a day trip.
  12. I found the leak on my aluminum boat and I just slapped on JB Weld on it. Been holding so far. I didn't know about that Marine Epoxy, if mine starts leaking again I'll probably use that next time.
  13. I looked at both their online charts and they seem pretty close. Major difference I noticed was that the Cmap didn't show road beds on their online map. I emailed their support to ask if any of their chips showed road beds. That was wednesday and I still haven't gotten a reply. Mabye I'll just stick with Navionics.
  14. I'm running a Lowrance FS. Looking for a chip, which one would you recommend for Lakes and reservoirs? Nav Platinum+ or the Cmap Reveal? Which one has more accurate topo data or do they both pull their data from the same sources?
  15. Main lake docks or the docks inside the cove near waterfront?
  16. Being from South LA, I'm way better at fishing the bank, but I've been learning to fish offshore when I go to lakes and reservoirs.
  17. I'm planning a trip to Guntersville for Mid June. I'm planning on staying around mid lake, I booked a place just north of Mill Creek, near Waterfront Grocery. I've only ever been to Guntersville during April, I want to see it in the summer when the grass is mostly topped out. Are there any specific parts of the lake that fish better in the summer than others?
  18. Come down to Southeast LA, there are a few guides down here that do airboat nutria hunts. The state has a bounty season on them, I think its like $4 or $5 a tail. And they may look ugly and gross, but they are actually really good to eat. All they eat are plants and roots. They have really white lean meat. Id say it most closely resembles rabbit meat, and if no one told you otherwise you'd probably never tell the difference.
  19. Last year my brother and I were fishing a spot. He set the hook on a fish and his line popped on his TX Rig craw. We keep fishing the same spot and catching fish every couple minutes. I'd say about 15-20 minutes go by and he catches a fish and brings it into the boat. He goes to unhook it when he notices his old hook and craw are still in the fishes mouth.
  20. I haven't really had anything to exciting. I guess the worst one was during a team tournament, and it wasn't really a confrontation, just the other team practicing bad etiquette. My brother and I had an early draw so we were the first to this bayou. We were trolling up the bayou fishing the bank. After fishing about 5 minutes another boat from the tournament comes up on us, slows down and idles past me. He gets just to about my max casting distance and drops his trolling motor and starts fishing right in front of us going the same direction. My brother is a little more confrontational than I am so he was about to say something. I stopped him and I was like, we can catch fish behind these clowns. So thats what we did. We didn't win the tournament, but we beat that team by about 4 pounds, so I consider that day a win. haha
  21. That's wild, you were basically directly under the debris path. Were you sticking those pre spawn toads near Hurricane or the Indian Mounds?
  22. Was going duck hunting with my dad and brother one morning, probably like 4am, long before any light is even starting to come over the horizon. We were out the marsh getting gear ready in the boat when we heard this loud rumble and the night sky lit up like day. We all look up to see this meteorite streaking across the sky right above us. It only lasted maybe 2-3 seconds then it was gone. In those 2-3 seconds you could have read a book without the aid of a flashlight. I don't know how close it was, but it was close enough to hear it and see the smoke trail that it left.
  23. Unless you live in South Louisiana, then they show up at your honey hole with Live shrimp....and man oh man do bass really LOVE live shrimp. Next thing you know he's posting a pic of freshly caught and fried bass fillets! ? Just take a screenshot of the photo, then send the screenshot. That doesn't display the location.
  24. Or just take a screenshot of the photo. On the screenshot edit screen just change the marker color to black and scribble your finger across the background. That way all your buddies know you intentionally hid info from them and it makes them all the more curious. lol
  25. @Dogface Agreed, Bill Dance probably has the best bloopers in the history of the world. lol
