Thanks for the responses. The reason I asked is because it wasn't casting far at all and I just learned today that this reel had external and internal brakes. Sure enough every internal brake was turned on.

Is there an easy way to remove the brake side plate side? Or do I have to remove the handleside to get the brake side off?

Fishing shows are not just a camera man filming some one fishing for only 30 mins.... Of course the clouds are going to change because some of the shows take a couple of days to get the footage that they want.. I think most shows now a days are legit.... But i do think they pre hooked fish in one of scott martins shows for one of his sons.

when i bought my bass boat they actually gave me 1 that i have never used and dont even want it...... im not around it now but when i get a chance i can measure it and let you know about the 1 i have.

I just got my new motor guide that i ordered last week... I cant wait to use it, it looks sweet. When i go to mount it should i fill the old holes in the boat from my old trolling motor with something? If so, what?

I ended up getting the motorguide. I just wanna thank every one for there input and advice. It helped make my decision a little easier.

Is it worth it to pay the extra money to get the 20.8 gator breakaway mount rather than the regular mount?? also is it worth the extra money to get the digital rather than the regular motor???

i am not brand loyal at all. I like to try all the reels. i dont have a pfleuger yet but the patriach looks very tempting to me.

i was looking at motorguides earlier. what is the difference between the standard foot control model and the digital one?(and by digital i dont mean the wireless one).... by the way RockvilleMdAngler i actually live in rockville MD but my thing says lake anna because i go down there to a family vacation home to fish every weekend.

go looking for structure and stuff with your electronics but take a rod with you so if you do find something try and get a fish off of it.. thats what i do when i look for brushpiles with my boat.

Had my revo STX for about 2 years now... i actually got it by returning a curado. But it is a great reel. I dont know if it is my favorite reel, its a close one between the revo and the zillion.

They should just get rid of the WBT. The better woman in it should fish in the elites and the ones that dont qualify for elites should fish the open tourneys. The thing about fishing is that it is more mental and knowledge than it is physical... Just because your a man doesnt give you an advantage in this sport. And being a woman isnt an automatic disadvantage. Im fine with her getting in but i do think women should start fishing in the elites rather than having a way smaller playing field which makes it easier to get to the classic.

Thats exactly how i feel. The main reason why im leaning towards a motorguide is because i like their foot pedal better.

Now that they have found steroids in A-Rods samples, i just dont know what to think about the sport any more. ESPN keeps talking about how it ruins his reputation. I think it is ruining baseballs reputation, you just dont no who's clean and who's not. A-Rod was one of the players I thought was clean for sure. For all we know players like pujols, manny, and ryan howard could be roiders... We just dont know. The purity of baseball is gone. Thats just how i feel now about the sport that i grew playing and one of the players i thought was going to be one of the all time greats.

i have a hand steering trolling motor on my boat now but i want to get a new one for this upcoming season with a foot pedal...im looking in the 600-700 dollar range for a 70's lb thrust... should i go with minn kota or motor guide

I am looking into adding two more rods to my collection. I want one to be used specifically for jigs in the 3/8oz range nd 1 rod to be used for heavier presentations like C-rigging and heavier jigs and flipping. I am going to look at the Powell rods at the fishing expo. What do you all think about these rods?Would you suggest any thing else? Also what sizes and ratings would you reccomend? --Thanks
