  1. Looks like China's answer to Van Staal reels. Anyone ever use on of these?
  2. These are all the reasons i havent bought anything beside RX's at Walmart for 20 years. Someone told me of this sale so I figured I had to go and see. To be honest they had far less fishing stuff than I had heard. Most of the tackle I buy it's almost always from brick and mortar places that sell on eBay.
  3. It looks like that's exactly what they're doing. I couldn't get a straight answer from any 4 managers ( in New England are Walmarts are close together !). They did tell me they were redoing the fishing section but to what parameters they did not know. They just told me they were eliminating a bunch of merch.
  4. A whole lot of stuff is on clearance all through out the section. It looks like they're not renewing 15% of the merch. I hope they're replacing with other items.
  5. All Walmart (in New England) fishing sections now have a TON of stuff on clearance. In the next months they're re doing the section and eliminating a lot of stuff. I've been buying like mad!

  7. I picked up one of these Falcon rods a bunch of months back. A nice fast rod. The guides feel a bit weird at first but they work great with my flouro. I prefer it to a lot of my other more expensive rods.
  8. Of course I'll sign that!
  9. I think of that inhale strike as an absence of the jig on my line. Don't feel your jig? It's in a bass! I still use my old Abu Garcia XLT as a flipping reel, and a Pflueger Asaro.
  10. I fish a couple of places rather close that it pays to work a finesse presentation. I guess half the time I use a mojo rig and the other half I use a Carolina (if people still call it that)))with a glass bead. Using the smallest weights I can get away with!
  11. Up here I've been fishing a finesse type Carolina rig for many years. Not quite the same but close. That reel your looking at is a sweet choice for this. I'd stay away from the mono and use Flouro. For light weight situations it has a bit more sensitivity. I like the 4 pound stuffs my self. I can drop shot a mile away with that and a somewhat fast 7foot light cabelas rod. I found 10 pound braid was a bit less castable if I was super light 1/20oz rig. Last year I that 4 pound caught many fish well above that weight!
  12. I've done this on a couple of Daiwa reels I own. Bought them in bad condition and when re building them I found the mag brake had come unglued and become stuck in full mag (common problem years back). I just used them pitching 1/16-1/10 oz finesse stuff. Worked great. But I see NO advantage at all to this. I usually set the brakes at the outtet limits to begin with but it's good insurance. That being said the newer more expensive reels I own make these brakes so easy to use with out limiting casting quality.
  13. Thanks Darren. Most of my fishing is done with spinning gear up here. I'm a big Daiwa spinning reel fan as of now. Some things I just love a good baitcaster with and have maybe 10 new LP ones I use with the early ones. A nice Friday night is completely disassembling and cleaning a good vintage baitcaster. The spinning gear just isn't as satisfying to maintain!
  14. I've restarted my collection of early 90's baitcaster reels. I only have about 12 of them as of now but bless eBay for it's never ending supply! I'm hoping some of you would give me some feedback on either their favorites or ones they hated. My favorite was an Abu Garcia XLT two speed.
  15. I just bought 25 more 4" Culprit worms. I just love the action.
