  1. Yes its a medium/fast cabelas tourney trail 7ft rod with a pflueger president medium size reel with 12lbs mono.
  2. I've got a lot of spots with docks, break walls, rip rap, piers and read I should throw some creature baits. Do I need jig heads for these or just a worm hook? do you texas rig these things or just let them fall on their own or weighted head? I will be trying for small mouth in the river mouths also.
  3. Anymore tackle I should purchase?
  4. I looked this morning and nothing listed on the rod. I started last year with a lightning rod but broke two and said never again ill just learn on this ugly stick. I had a lipless bait from a tackle package that i could get out there aways but i would get slight backlashes, just enough to have to pick out a foot or so but a few videos i recently watched said use the tape or switch to mono. I know this power pro is expensive so didn't want to take it off and use something wrong.
  5. Its a pinnical bait caster that's red and silver it doesn't have any markings on it and the ugly stick is just the standard 6ft6 one piece casting rod ugly stick with the pistol grip handle.
  6. Hello, I was given a red pinnical baitcaster and 6f6 ugly stick with power pro braid. I seen in a video from a guy on here to put electrical tape on the spool to keep it from backlashing. I played with it a little last summer with a ratl trap and I am decent with it and didn't get wild backlashes just some starting too but I used my thumb to keep it down. Do you guys think I should remove to power pro and put a cheap mono on it for now? I'm also not really sure what baits to use on this? I'm stuck bank fishing too if that helps. One thing I noticed I struggle with is aim and with the line I lost a few lures because it kept slipping so I quit messing with the combo.
  7. Well I hope my research today paid off. 1/4oz z man chatterbait in black and blue for muddy water. 1/4oz z man chatterbait in white with flake for clear water. 1/4oz booya spinner bait in chatruse/white with the leaf blades. I also have some hooks and senkos in those colors you guys listed. How do you guys feel about creature baits throwing around docks and pier walls?
  8. I don't have it close but its this combo. https://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/rod-reel-combos/spinning-combos/pc/104793480/c/104762880/sc/105791580/cabelas-president-tt-cbo/2605496.uts?slotId=0 I have the 7ft 2 piece with 10-12lbs yellow mono line on it.
  9. Hello all I am limited to shore fishing and mostly use a pflueger president spinning combo and wading into baitcasters. I have a lot of upground reservoirs, large ponds, lake erie and its tributaries around me and mainly interested in largemouth and small mouth. Some of the rivers and ponds can be kind of murky so ive ready I should use a chartrues chatter bait with round blades but I'm not sure on weight to get? Most of the reservoirs have rip rap, the lake has marinas and break walls and rocks and the rivers are mostly deep murky stuff. Any tips on what baits to buy in color, type, weight and what rod to fish them on?
  10. its a pinnical. I cant remember what model but last time I looked it up its around $60-70. I think the heavy action rod trying to throw square bills and lipless baits it was too stiff. I have an old ugly stick ill try with it.
  11. First rod was returned and swapped out. When this one cracked it ticked me off so much as well as messing with the reel I chucked it in the can and left. nothing like 50miles round trip. I've got braid on it. it was very windy today. I might give it another shot but it will be awhile. I might just get an ugly stick and be done with it. I've pulled in big channel cats on my lite ugly stick so I won't have to worry about getting a snag and the rod cracking. When the rod today cracked it was by the thick part towards the grip it sounded like rice crispys! i just have to get to get to a place with no trees, no crap on the bottom and have at it. I think this lake ticked me off more than the rod/reel which made me say screw it but it's supposed to be the best in the area. wind kicked up 30min after I arrived, tons of submerged trees you can't see and heavy grass and bushes in the water. snag city. Thanks for the advice guys I'm taking a break for while and use my spinning stuff.
  12. first one I got a hard bite and set the hook and heard crack and looked and the top eye broke right off. took it back to Walmart and had to go through hell cause I got a clearance medium/heavy for the $9. the girl said get another one which I did but It rang up $40 she said if you can find one online for $9 within x miles ill price match it. so standing there for 20 min trying to find a store with another $9 rod I found one for $15 so got my replacement for $6 more. today I got snagged and upon pulling on it I heard the blank start cracking. idk if its because Walmart just crams all the rods in a little rack and they get cracked or what but it finally broke so its in the trash. No matter what I tried today I got either bad backlashes or the thing slings far left. I would push the button, lure falls slow and hits the ground with no backlash and then I cast and backlash. I tried what was posted on here in a video about letting the rod load up and then cast and it made me get the worst backlash and I even went with a spinner bait thinking the heavy/med rod needed a heavier bait.
  13. Well it's official I'm done with these things!! Went out today and got the bait to fall without a backlash and still throwing left and lost 2 baits and my lightning rod shock cracked when trying to get the snag undone. 2nd time these things cracked one was while setting a hook the tip snapped. I'm done with it too much headache I'll just stick with spinning gear.
  14. ill give both ways a shot. I thought the jig head with the shad head looked a little goofy but what do I know cause I'm asking you guys. LOL. what size hook with the screw do you guys prefer?
  15. I sure hope that doesn't happen. I already lost a tx setup and lipless at this place I'm going tomorrow. what size leader would you run for an area like I described above?
  16. no issue with fish seeing the braid?
  17. I'm headed out this weekend to fish a local reservoir and it has rip rap all along 3/4 of it then woods. this is a city water reservoir so the water is mostly clear. I plan on fishing the rip rap and have a spinning rod with 10lbs suffix elite hi-viz and a bait caster with like 50lbs braid. I'm worried the rocks will eat my line up and the water clarity being very visible and I read flouro would be best to use but I don't want to redo a spool that already has line. I'm throwing lipless cranks, senkos, possible shad swim baits, chigger craws and square bills along the rocks. would it be a good idea to get some seaguar flouro in say 10-15lbs for like a 3ft leader?
  18. if fishing an open reservoir where one sides rocks the others woods would a frog be a good top water?
  19. the berkely ones are like the storms but don't have a hook connected and come in bluegill, shad, bass, and other colors. it says you have to use a special jig head for them which didn't make sense to me because they already have a formed a painted head.
  20. I'm looking at using swim baits and see a Berkeley pack and a storm pack. Berkeley says use a jig head and storms are built in. These are the smaller shad minnow types.
  21. I have a frog but no clue where and when to use it. i also have some poppers in blue and white. how about swim baits like the small minnow/shad type with the upside down hooks?
  22. right now I've got black with pink tail power worms, chigger craw, yellow and white kvd square bill, bleeding shad ratl trap, craw trap, green and white spinner bait, orange and white and minnow color original rapala, a few packs of darker color worms, bass color square bill. what else do i need? what colors work well? any other lures, colors, advice is appreciated.
  23. thanks guys. somewhat new to this and only fish weekends but have been going out around noon and no luck.
  24. What's the best time of day to fish for largemouth, crappie, smallmouth? I will be fishing some local reservoirs, lakes, rivers.
  25. i noticed guys saying certain lenses for certain types of weather. funds are limited so what would be a good all around lens?
