  1. A little off topic from the OP but I’m also looking at a 7’MH St Croix Avid versus the 7’2 MH zodias. Anyone have any suggestions between the two? Will be paired with curado k
  2. I have $450 in Cabelas gift cards and I’m looking to pick up a swimbait set up. I’m looking to throw medium sized swimbaits and glide baits (S waver, gan craft, bullshad, gantarel jr and regular etc) looking to spend 450 in total. What would you guys recommend? Has to be off cabelas website which makes the selection a little less than TW.
  3. I am wanting to hear your guys opinions on which popping frogs also have a good walking Action. And your favorite color of the frog as well! Thanks for the input, I love the versatility of being able to make loud pops and subtle walking movements
  4. I agree completely I am just always psycho about new rods lol. Thanks
  5. I got my first GLX the other day but when I peeled off the sticker a piece of the cork came with it!! It is a full cork 843 and having a chunk of the cork missing is really getting to me considering it's a $450 rod. The tackleshop I got it from won't take it back so I'm stuck. Whats my best option to fill in the cork? I'm hoping for it to be barely noticeable afterwards
  6. Anyone have any input on either of these lenses? I'm in the market for sunglasses for $200 or less and I'm consodering oakley prizm shallow lenses and costa's 580 plastic lenses. Or any other suggestions or glasses in my price range would be greatly appreciated
  7. What would be your choice for the best jig rod in the $170-$200 range, looking for 7'2 or longer
  8. Any suggestions on colors for swimbaits/spinnerbaits and then on flipping plastics?
  9. Yeah I know, I have the 734 and 703 in the fury series. Unfortunately I lost my receipt so the $130 will only be for in store credit and BPS doesn't carry Dobyns Rods. Any other suggestions at the 100-150 price point?
  10. Hey guys, I'm going to be returning my Mojo Bass 7' MH-MF to BPS here soon and I was looking for your guys advice on a new rod, Im looking for a worm and jig rod. I've been considering the 7'1 MH-F mojo bass and also the 7'2 MH-F Abu Garcia Ike rods. They are both at the $130 price point and I'm wondering more about the Abu rod, what do you guys think?
  11. I'd recommend a Dobyns Fury 704 or 734
  12. Very true, you've been the main advocate for the fury's and rightfully so. You can tell that Mr. Dobyns really put time and effort into creating a rod at the $100 price point that out performs nearly all other rods you can buy for the same amount. I'm excited to get my 735, and then after that move up to a Sierra. That full cork grip is a beauty Also, thanks for all the help and advice you've provided me with in my search for rods and reels. I'm loving the Dobyns/Daiwa combo
  13. @fishnkamp finally picked these two rods up today and all I can say is WOW. They feel amazing. Only used the 734 today and caught about 15 1-2lbers in 30 minutes. The rod felt amazing and it had just the right amount of tip and backbone. I caught them all on a 3/8oz spinnerbait with a split tail trailer and the rod loaded up very nicely, I was able to cast them "a country mile". For anyone who's on the fence about getting one of these rods, DO IT. I'll be adding the 735 to the collection here soon as well. In comparison the the St croix mojo bass spinnerbait rod, the 734 blows it out of the water. What beats a $110 rod that fishes like a $200 rod? Nothing. Besides getting them for $85 piece new like I did ?
  14. Thanks! I appreciate the input and I assume that power ratings should be fairly similar between the spinning and casting series.
  15. Im looking to pick up two new Dobyns Fury, here is the two applications I'm looking to use them for. 1: Spinnerbaits, Chattterbaits, and the occasional Jig. My thought: 734c 2: Flukes, Weightless Plastics, And light t-rigs My thought: 703c My question is, how do you guys feel about the rods I've selected for my intended uses. Will a 734 have a nice tip to throw spinnerbaits, also could the 734 handle a jig that is 1/2oz+trailer if needed? Also, is the 703c more of a medium powered rod? That is what I'm looking for and I've read that Dobyns fish lighter than they are rated at.
  16. Anyone ever fish with these rods? I just got a 40% off discount on their website and I'm in the market for two new rods so I might use this opportunity to check them out, I'm looking a the Kovert Lite and Lithium series, any input on the brand or these rod series would be greatly appreciated!
  17. .... Not with a Tatula CT that's tuned properly. At least in my experience.
  18. Nice review, interesting that you say the CT need thumbing at the begging and end of the cast because I personally can cast my CT without thumbing it once even when it's hitting the water. What brake number do you have yours set to? I keep mine at about 5-7 using a 3/8oz spinnerbait with no problems
  19. TackleJunkie81 on youtube fishes 4 of the 7' Medium+ rods and he loves them for shallow to medium diving set ups. Look him up if you're interested in more details
  20. I'm looking to purchase some quality polarized sunglasses, I fish mostly clear to lightly stained water. How does lense color play into the picture? Thanks for any tips and advice. I want them to be able to double as just everyday sunglasses as well so I know they are good polarized sunglasses for cheap at walmart but they aren't quite my style, lol.
  21. I clicked on this thread immediately after I saw @LuckyHandsINC. was the most recent poster. I love your arsenal and congrats on the newest addition!
  22. Does anyone here have any hands on experience with this rod? My friend recently got one and I got to hold it and it had a nice and light feel to it, but I never got to fish it. I've read many great reviews and I'm considering getting the 7'4 Heavy for jigs and the 7' MH-Moderate Fast for spinnerbait/chatterbait/lipless cranks. Thoughts?
  23. I wouldn't necessarily call it a braid leader, but putting on some mono before the braid and tying a connector knot will keep the braid from slipping on the spool as well as saving you some money by not using a ton of braid.
  24. I have two Tatula CT and one with braid on it, I have 15lb mono backing and then about 3-4 casts length worth of braid on it, I've never even seen it get close to the mono backing. I'm not much help to your question but I'm curious to see the answers. I'm running 50lb braid
