  1. As a small kid it was #3 Mepps Aglia's & Beetle Spins 12 yo or so and on it was 7"Berkley power worms color Black Today on any body of water I can throw a 3/16 shaky head w/ a 4" SK Ocho in Black/ Blue flake and catch fish... guaranty!! Any trip now starts with the joke of who can last the longest before the Ocho comes out. lol
  2. +1 My portable Ridgid has lasted longer than I thought it would. Many years later I put a "good" blade on it.... should have done that years ago. It's like a new machine..... But I also see they did change a few things since I bought mine, so unknown reliability since then.
  3. Thank you very much! That right there is the answer, that I didn't know I was looking for, that I just couldn't come up with and picture in my head. I will definitely have to give wire tying a try now.
  4. So the rattle still has a collar. Does the one you linked, last longer than skirt collars do? Since the purpose of hand tying the skirts on is to remove the rubber that can deteriorate.
  5. I've thought of trying to tie them but I run rattles on every jig I make. How do you attach duel rattles without using any collars?
  6. While growing up and still to this day I watch M*A*S*H all the time... Something newer I got hooked into was Halt and Catch Fire. It helped I was into computers and all that when it started.
  7. I just roll the bands onto the tool instead of trying to slide them on. (can even be done with the rattle bands) When pushing up on the jig and it gets to the keeper you can grab all the strands on that side of the skirt and gently pull the band away from the bait while sliding it up. Once over you can do the same to the other side.
  8. I could probably make it 7-10 years with what I already have, with back-ups to the back-ups, and so forth. But if something I constantly catch fish on hits a clearance sale.... you have to buy, Right? lol
  9. 7" black Berkley power worm... same thing I used as a kid that caught fish every time!
  10. ... look 12 posts up... it's quoted in RichF's post
  11. ... and when you get tired of getting that football head shape stuck, try a Strike King Jointed Structure Head. Same concept but since it is more pointed to the line tie, I find it comes through trees/rocks with way less hang-up's.
  12. Not sure it's much of a sale.... but here you go! https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/online-catalogs?catalogCode=BassPro/SFC_21_36_tab
  13. Any conditions, water temps, and clarity ... etc. I have fished, learned, and studied way long enough now I believe I can do what's needed to catch a fish every single time out! Do I still get skunked? Yes, but it is very rare this point... normally it's after heavy rain when the water has 3" visibility. I still know what to do, but the fish just don't comply.? But at these times... I'm fishing for just that one single bite!
  14. I totally agree... having no knowledge of the internet forums until later in life, I never knew that old warts were $$$$$. Having bought with my own money when I was13-15 yo, and using them like reg. lures, I read a thread on that "other" forum about what prices they were fetching I think around2017-18. WOW I went through and selected ones I haven't used in years, researched for hours, and sold them for a "fair price" at the time. (fair to me was astonishing since I paid less than $2 and sold most for $50-60) I did have one of the most sought after ( I don't remember exactly now since It was a while ago, but I think it was color 65, I might be wrong) Mine had a slight blemish so I priced it at $65, it sold instantly and later was IM'ed that I probably could have got $90 for it. It didn't matter to me, I was happy with what I got for it, I wish the best of luck to who bought it! But Yes, old Wiggle Warts are a cult following. I only sold 6 and purchased the equivalent of 25 other lurers, I call that a win to me.
  15. I've never seen a stamp... mostly just printing that consists of little dots. Newer: Older: & even printed suspending on ones that came with suspend dots:
  16. I have also done this since I was little...... BUT, I learned my lesson the first time I used braid with massive hooksets. That PowerPro will slice right through the crease in your finger like a razor blade. lol Even today I still forget sometimes and sure enough, owwwww. ?
  17. It was a Cabela's house brand plastic. When BPS bought them out they discontinued carrying them. I bought every last package my Cabela's had on clearance.
  18. for on water use I just use one of these...have had somewhere around 25 years.
  19. Hooks rubber-banded and packed tight so no rattling/vibrating against each other.
  20. Since they were a decent price, and inspired by the black crank thread, I bought extra to re-paint (rattle can). The first ones I started with is a color shift paint in Purple Fog. It's a dark green/dark purple transition. It's a little hard to take a pic showing it well, but It looks much better in person....
  21. Starting with my first plastic 2/person boat (30yrs ago) the top and bottom were just stapled together under a black rub rail. Shouldn't be to hard to fix. The second one (20 years old now) had the top and bottom sonic welded (melted) together... If this type is separating, I'm not sure it can be repaired easily. The number one thing to check for is damage on the back, bottom, outside corners for thinness or holes. Most people would slide them out of the truck onto the concrete ramp causing it to wear out the corners. I always unloaded in the grass next to the ramp. Still have the boat hanging from the garage ceiling, but it only gets used for hunting now.
  22. I have multiple cranking rods in the 7' Bucoo paired with Pflueger President reels. I would say the Bucoo's feel one action less than what they are described as. So I just use a reg. Medium for spinning rod on cranks.
  23. Grew up walking farm pond banks with dad with only mepps and beetlespins, the rare time I got to use the scout.... (yes, pic of a pic...cell phones and computers were imaginary) lol
  24. I take the jigs with trailers and chuck them on the deck with the other lures while I keep fishing. Let them dry out leaving the trailers on the hooks, then put them back in the box and I've never had any hooks rust before by doing this.
