  1. Didn't spend a dime on fishing! woohoo But what did magically show up this year was: -Extar EP9 (+7 18rd mags) -Sig Romeo5 red dot -1,000 rds of 9mm -Pixel Watch 3 (plus accessories) & 3 more pair of Asics shoes. I think fishing stuff would have been cheaper. LOL
  2. I 100% agree with Bankc. Definitely experience it before hand to make sure you know if it's what you want . Of my 45 years... only two of them were living somewhere else. 2008-2010 I got the pleasure of living in Ooltewah just outside of Chattanooga TN, right next to the Chick. To keep it short... growing up here, I just didn't know what I was missing out on. But two years of hills/mountains, cooler Summer/warmer winters, what wind lol, so many outdoor things to do, way nicer (but absolutely in no hurry) people (( it is the South)), Etc.... I loved every bit of it!! If I got my way I would have NEVER came back to KS. It's just my opinion only. but the wife's job decided it for us.
  3. It depends on what you mean by close. Something within 30 min.... be completely honest, no. It you are fine driving an hour fifteen to two hours away, then there are state lakes and community lakes that would be good for kayaking. Hope you enjoy fishing in the wind
  4. Think that's bad, they (whoever they are) showed up at Sedan city Lake which is all of 70 acres, today. How sad that many boats of people have to go to such a small lake so they can actually catch a fish to feel good about there abilities or lack there of. We turned around, went to a different lake, caught 38 bass and was the only boat on the water.
  5. It doesn't really matter how perfectly accurate a cheap scale is if you're going cheap, as long as it's consistent. I have a cheap amazon one that I used on "cheap" dumbbells to test. 2.5# weighed 2lb 11oz diff 2.5# was 2lb 7oz 5# was 5lb 5# was 5lb 4oz But every time I switched between them they weighed the exact same measurement. So if you want a correct weight, use it on a known (exact 5# something) and you'll know true 0 might be a few ounces off then you can offset that when measuring with it.
  6. It's not tackle per say, but this will make my tackle perform even better I hope.
  7. Only ever order for myself... but you know they (companies) are collaborating when the wife gets a Mud Hole catalog the same day mine arrives. lol
  8. Interesting... (because of this topic I had to go look) Kansas has a new deal for residents: -5yo and under for Lifetime combo hunt/fish for $302.50 -6-7yo get the same for $502.50 -anyone 8yo to 64 it is $962.50 -a senior 65+ $42.50 Shows how good of a deal I got back in 98' for $440 when I was 20yo Reg. yearly Fish $27.50 Trout is $14.50 extra (But I don't participate)
  9. Got my first of two $1 spools in the mail today... Front looks like it should, back was interesting because of the sticker on it covering up the original upc.
  10. My memory sucks, but if I remember correctly they were the Excalibur branded Bomber signature series. With Bill Dance and Jimmy Houston. 1997ish time frame. I also have a spitt'n image in there. If I knew back then what I know now.... A simple $2 lure going for $10+ now days But I can't make fun since I sold my $2 wiggle warts for upwards of $56 years ago.
  11. This is my go to, only when "nothing" else is working that day for Bass.... Then with a beetle spin I'll catch a hand full of bass, some crappie, too many perch (bluegill), a wiper, and for some stupid reason a channel or two. But yet they wont hit a ned. idk sometimes.
  12. Agree!!! But, if it's a Suspending model.....different story. Nothing like when I sold off the Pre-Wiggle Warts, but a $3 lure is now going for $12 + This Is all I have left...
  13. Honestly, didn't go back and read all 13 pages of this thread..' My only "infraction" was @ 15. I couldn't even drive to the lake by myself yet. (but I did have my Lifetime hunt/fish license since 10-11yo) I bought a 10' 2 man plastic boat that my dad and uncle would use, this expanded from my entire life from bank fishing. Boat was mine, dad drove to the lake, uncle came with.... "you can see where this is going". Probably our 50th trip. Game warden walks out on the closest jetty and asks, "who's boat is this!" Dad & uncle point at me. Then, "who's getting out!!" Dad & me point at my uncle. lol Everyone had a life jacket and all was squared away except you can't have 3 people in a two person boat. My uncle didn't have his license on him, it was in the truck, so the GW was nice enough to drive him a mile back to the truck for it..... But I still got the ticket for to many persons in the boat. And no, neither of them helped pay the fine, HAHA
  14. The 4th and final Pure order... thankfully it was the smallest too. haha

  16. I got 8 different colors, all in the 4" version. I opened 3 of them and looked at the rest through the packaging. They seem to be straight with no bends. Of the 8 - 7 came in the little trays & one was just loose in the package w/o tray. I got them to use as trailers on bladed jigs/spinnerbaits so a little bend would not matter to me much. If I was throwing them alone I would have been disappointed if they were not straight.
  17. I really want to ask at what age you started? I bet a friend I could be as good as him in a year @ the age of 40, (he's been playing for 20+years)... a year later I'm on his team....haha I'm 4 years in and could even play up a division, but I couldn't do that to the first team that gave me a chance. I hit every ice time I can get, since I'm an overachiever. Like everyone else, I wish I could have got involved way earlier in life. Hockey life among a team is completely diff. than any other sport.
  18. Finally remembered to take a pic when showed up... The Gulps where the Pure discount code purely to catch "anything" since I'm going to get an LVS34 for myself for Christmas!! While learning to make Livescope work for Bass... I'll take catching anything that shows up on the screen. HAHA
  19. Since my 2 orders delivered today.... why not put in a third!! lol Had to go chrome incognito and change a few things for the code to work, but... another order is coming!!! lol
  20. Monkey said I didn't need anything this year... I told him to shut your mouth!! lol I'm bad about taking pictures when monkey purchases arrive.... I just want to play!!! Just glued up the handle on 1 of 2 MB812XF-MHX-M blanks to be jerkbait rods. Other BF buys: -3 pflueger Pres XT reels -Garmin 106sv -a couple handfuls of Berkley Stunna's -magabass 110's -misc line etc, & -an order from fishingskirts to make more jigs and spinnebaits than I'll ever use.
  21. 8 days later (from label has been printed) my email response I got was, "We had a popular color in production but you will receive your order very soon." SO... they print your label when they haven't made the plastics yet!! ? Mine are supposed to be here tomorrow. whatever
  22. So they bumped up the discount from when I ordered, nbd. But If they would kindly drop my package off at UPS that they printed a label for on 11/26 @12:22pm that would be great. Yeah they are probably busy... but don't print a label if you can't ship it out! ?
  23. Shipping was much faster this time for my Jack-E Hamm-Aaa's worked out to be only $2.72 each all in.
  24. I like it so far... I'll post in the rod building section later when I am farther along. Started with acquiring a Turnkey 7' casting kit from MudHole along with 2 clearance blanks, a MHX Spinning, extra glue/epoxy, thread etc. So far I have only installed the handle on one of the clearance blanks and tried my first wrapping of any sort...I'll tighten the thread up a little more before Prokote. haven't got to the guides yet.... Thanks for asking.
  25. I just got the motivation to start building my own rods...so , after seeing the sale in this thread, I decided to see if these reels are acceptable. I only took the chance since their sale has them at $74.23 ea. For background info... I do not or have ever bought expensive high dollar reels... so I cannot compare. As you will see from the pics I am still using one the first gen BPS extreme reels from 15+ years ago. I received these (series 2, did not care about a carbon handle... line indicator nut cover... or drag washers that I could upgrade at a later time). To start I broke one down just enough to see what I was getting... (I did not clean or re-lube anything) I would say this is almost equal to any other reel I have had. The drive internals are more or less comparable to any other reel I have used, but the difference comes when comparing the breaking mechanism. These Kistlers are a single action friction system you can adjust with the dial. When inertia swings the outer black pieces this pushes the white/clear pieces against the circular brass cone.?. This is a first for me using this type. What I am used to is- BPS extreme... (single control) Or Lew's Tournament MB Speed Spool... (duel control) I took two of the reels to the lake today. One on a spinnerbait/chatterbait rod, the other on a small swimbait rod. (for reference I did not lube or clean either reel like I normally would have. I wanted to see what they were like straight out of the box) To start... I found them very picky about dialing in adjustments to cast to be @ there best. One of them casted much easier and farther then the other without trying to backlash but I think cleaning/lubing both reels myself would help both of them. ... drag was adequate since the largest bass caught today was only 2# ... I did like the longer handle than I normally use. That was a + ... I knew getting the Series 2 with its matt finish would not look as clean as the series 1 and its gloss paint. Finger prints & garlic spray easily showed. But I'm a user, wear and boat rash is expected over it's lifetime... If taken care of (cleaned/lubed) it will work no matter what the exterior looks like. I also have BPS Pro Qualifier reels acquired during spring fishing classic a few years back when they were $49.99. Overall with one days of fishing I would place this in the middle ground... It comes down to only having a single breaking mech. I don't think I would put it quite up there with the pro Qualifier 2 that's $99.99 And my Lew's seem much smoother to me ( but I have cleaned/adj. them since new) I would say for the $74.23 total ea I paid, I got exactly what I thought I would get. Would I like to try a Daiwa Steez SV TWS? Absolutely, but I don't have the bank for that, so I'm happy with what I do have. Hope this info helps a little bit.
