My wife and I had a blast this past weekend fishing down there. We went with guide Drew Montgomery who was a great guy and very good at what he does. First place we stopped My Wife caught this:
Her first fish ever. Smiley
Then while we were fishing around some docks this guy came up and ate my popper:
It was a great day and we had a blast. Combined we caught 18 Largemouth and spots plus a few strippers through in for fun. I would recommend this guy to anyone going down to the Charlotte area and want to do some fishing.
That is awesome. My kids love to go through my boxes. And anytime they out fish you there interest just grows and grows. Hold on to those moments because they are the best ones.
I have fished from both and there really isn't that much of a difference. You use the same baits in the same way that you would from the bank. The big difference is that you can get alot of different angles at a piece of cover. Good luck and Happy Birthday.
For me it is the variety. The variety of the fish, they all act a little different, the variety of the there habitat, you can find them just about anywhere, and the variety of techniques, lures, and other equipment there is out there for them.
I have a book here about smallmouth and in it they talk about the different colors of the fish. They show a fish in one picture and it has been in a holding tank that was well lit and then in the next picture it had been in the shade and it color was dramatically different. It is a natural pigment change they go through.
When I was your age I was already a member of BASS and was fishing every chance I got i even to the issues of Bassmasters to school with me. I bought my first boat at 16 even before I owned a car so No there is nothing wrong with fishing all the time. As long as it doesn't get in the way of things like school and taking care of other things it is not a problem.
My question for for PETA has always been is what are they going to do when the fish are over populated and dying off from not enough food or disease? I mean there is problems with different fish related diseases now: LBH for example.
Welcome to the site.
With it still being cold you might have to slow down and fish a little deeper. Move off shore some more and try to find some cover on out. And good luck
