  1. 80% bait caster. I carry about 8 baitcasters in the boat and 2 spinning rods so the math works.
  2. Medium action is great for small crankbaits depending on the tip.
  3. Reviving a thread from 2011? Ok, I like the gloomis CBR 843. I like a medium action for small crankbaits that still have the parabolic bend. Very sensitive as well.
  4. Did you consider the curado 200i and more money for a rod? They are a great deal for the money and will leave you money for more rod. If not I have heard nothing but great things about both reels you suggest.
  5. Early on vision 110 then square bills as they move up. Always have a jig or shakey head tied on and then love the buzzbaits in the summer.
  6. Sounds like they are authentic. I have dozens and they have the same characteristics. Some Have split rings others don't and the paint will wear pretty quick. My favorite baits that I have a lot of confidence in.
  7. I have an IMX spinning rod and love it. Very sensitive and well balanced.
  8. Haha. I have 4 pair of Costa, so I can't disagree. Copper/Amber is best all around and if I could only have one pair I would go silver mirrored, which has the copper base.
  9. I have several MH and got a medium for squarebills and small cranks. I am really happy with the medium and prefer it over the MH. I think each brand differs though.
  10. I switched to mono for spinner baits. Rippin 15. kVd uses mono for spinnerbaits. He is pretty good!
  11. Unlimited budget this is the one I like. This is the one I currently use. Love the short 6'3" medium for vision 110s http://www.gloomis.com/content/g-loomis/us/en/home/conventional/rods1/bass/bass/JERKBAIT_SERIES.html
  12. I ended up purchasing the G loomis cbr843 crankbaits series. It is on sale at TW and I am partial to loomis as I have always been happy with thei4 stuff and really wanted a medium action rod. Great day fishing today and can't wait to try it out.
  13. i love my Costas- I have blue mirror, green mirror, silver mirror, and copper. If I was only buying one pair I would go silver or copper.
  14. Yes they are awesome. I have quite a collection of them. When I fish in MN and pike are around I use the rick clunns. Otherwise, GP pro blue 110 is my favorite.
  15. Strike King Red Eye Shad in the half ounce.
  16. Ok so I went fishing tonight. Did pretty well actually. Figured out I am pretty happy with my light crankbaits rod. I do need a medium size to larger deep diver and chatterbait rod. What is your favorite for this application.
  17. Is the 705 to heavy for square bills? I have always used medium with shallow rather than MH.
  18. I have actually been looking at the 704cb as a potential option. Never owned a dobyns.
  19. I currently have a 7ft medium shimano Cumara(the older grey series) I use for crankbaits, mostly squarebills etc. I am thinking about upgrading this rod. I usually like G-loomis IMX for other baits, but IMX doesn't have a crankbait rod. What are your favorites? I would like to keep the rod under 300$.
  20. With. The sale on IMX at 220 at TW, I would do that. IMX's are on close out.
  21. I am pretty happy with rippin so far too. I always use floro invisx or tatsu on jerkbaits, but the rippin has been great for my mono applications so far.
  22. I have never paid attention, but I have caught tons of fish with them.. they are my go to in the spring. I have a few rick clunns for fishing in MN and they fish very similar.
  23. I have the blue for deep sea fishing, green lens I keep in the bass boat, copper lens for driving and overcast, and I have silver mirror for everyday. If I were to buy one pair of costas it would likely be the silver lens with copper being a very close second. Blue and green are a bit too much unless it is full sun.
  24. Jerkbaits and crankbaits I use 10lb floro. Top water, I use 15lb mono. I like Seagaur.
  25. Floro. Usually 15 pound tatsu or invisx.
