  1. This hits me in the feels
  2. I had a buddy fish the USA Bassin tourney on Percy Priest this past Sunday. Winner had over 18 w/ just smallies
  3. Dead on. I've talked to some friends in other states and they also said this was the toughest summer that they've ever had. Not sure what that was all about but even the tournament weight averages for some of the USA Bassin stuff I've looked at we're weird. A single team would come in with a solid bag and they everyone else would be way behind with a somewhat unimpressive limit
  4. Man, sorry to hear about the destruction from Ian but super awesome that you're competing at that level
  5. Personally, I like to get do a review of the year for myself and see what I can learn and try to capitalize on during the next season... -I like to do this kinda early so I can shop the holiday sales to reload for spring. -Yes, I know that if you live in the south the season doesn't end but for some of us up north, we have to hang it up for a little while and pretend to go deer hunting. -The small lakes I fished in GA had a ton of grass so that was almost all that I fished. When I moved to IN, my home lake has everything but grass (some weeds but they're shoreline out to about 2ft, nothing actually growing up off the bottom) so I had to do a bunch of trial and error to figure out how the lake behaves. Top Producing Structure: Rock, followed by weed edges, and wood was a very distant third place #1 producer: No clue, I was spread out pretty evenly across many lures and techniques. How about everyone else?
  6. Uhhh yes, I need more people to talk fishing with. My wife doesn't want to hear about it anymore
  7. I have some silent Strike King KVD 2.5's that have some good teeth marks in them. I also have some LC 2.5's that I picked up during the Christmas sale a few years ago. They all run close to 5 foot depth but I'm not sure if they fully reach it
  8. I used to own both a sit in and sit on. Started with a 10' sit inside Ascend from BPS. Drove me nuts bc I can't fish sitting down so I acquired a Feel Free Moken that was stable enough to stand up in. Believe it or not, I never fell out. Kinda depends on your waters though, when we took them to the river my pregnant wife could out maneuver me while she was running the Ascend (sit inside) while I couldn't even fish in the barge that was the super wide Moken.
  9. I used to run a similar setup to the pictures above. Ran PVC up from my two rod holders in the back. 90 degree elbows pointed inward to 4x four way connectors so the butts of the rods could pass through. On one side I also ran a 3 way connector to another 90 degree joint pointed into the water where I ran the cable and hose clamp for my transducer. (Back before the thru hull and scupper transducers were any good). And now that I've re read all of that it doesn't make any sense so here's a picture. If you zoom in on the far side you can see the outlet for the transducer cable. Never cared for a crate because it would get in the way of my rod holder magoozer. Speed box for what I thought was going to work up front, scale and pliers in the hatch, back up lures in a backpack behind me. Everything else was at home. YMMV. My trips typically only went for a max of 4 hours before the Georgia heat would send me home
  10. Green pumpkin jig w/ your favorite trailer if you don't know about the shad. Alternate between fishing the green grass and swimming it. Walking bait for for any schoolers and once you do confirm whether or not you have shad, roll with the lipless or swimbait. I'd say spinnerbait but for whatever reason I can't buy a bite on the spinnerbait this year
  11. I originally created an account here about 7 years ago and haven't been active at all again until to. So I guess this is my reintroduction to the forum. Moved back to Indiana after retiring from the Army, still deciding on my favorite lake around here and I've been fishing for close to 30 years.
  12. Waffle top and waffle bottoms underneath the rain suit. Allows me to stay fairly nimble.
  13. Retired Army SOF
  14. Does anyone know what phase of the spawn we are in!? Given the long winter (for Georgia) and the spring that seemed more like the midwest than the the south, I can't seem to pinpoint the phase. I jacked a giant off a bed last year around this time and it had been a lot hotter for a lot longer so I wouldn't think that its over. I'm noticing some new beds everytime I go but nobody seems to be home. Fished for about 7 hours today, only managed 6 dinks and never put much of a pattern together. Three on a brush hog (one off a weedbed, one off a hump and out of the trees), two on a jig and one on a chatterbait with hits on a squarebill and whopper plopper 90.
