  1. I own a Fenwick Methods baitcasting rod and it has served me very well so far.
  2. Thanks for the heads up on the Fat Ika! I went out New Year’s Day and tried this for the first time. It was windy in the lower 30s and I did really well. You are correct you have to watch the line. Half the time I received no obvious bites but my line would stop mid drop and sit there. Other than that get ready and hold on!
  3. I did this a few months back with what would have been my PB. I was yelling to my wife from the dock “Wooo look honey look Woooo!” Holding the fish in the air and feelin like pro. Then one flick of the tail she flew out of my hands and back into the water. Man that fish was a beast. At least my wife got to see it for like five seconds!
  4. Fall this year has been good to me as compared to last which was horrible. I switched to swimbaits and spinners that mimic shad. Also baby bass colored spinners are magic right now! Lost my PB three weeks ago due to a poorly tied FG knot but I was inches within getting her on the bank. Bought a net that I thought would be great for a bank beater such as myself to remedy that. This past Friday I hooked a beast with a head like a meatball on my ultralight setup. It wouldn’t fit in the net!
  5. Thanks for the comment! Yes sir! No pressure in this tub! Thanks Mike! These days you have start them off right! Yes it swims around like a robotic bass. It comes with two magnetic lures and when it makes contact it fights almost like the real deal. When I had to take a fishing hiatus due to Harvey I played with it also lol!
  6. Hello everyone! I just wanted to share this picture. My son just turned two and I’m beginning to introduce him to the art of fishing. I got him a bass fishing toy and so far he loves it. I can’t thank all of you enough for the information on this site. It has helped me to become a better fisherman and I look forward to passing what I’ve learned on to my son. Tight lines everyone!
  7. Thanks to everyone here on this site for helping me on my journey to become a better bass fisherman. Tight lines everyone!
  8. Little late in this forum to post but here goes. Jigs in the summertime are your best friend! My fishing time is limited so I usually can only get out mid day. In Houston that means tropical heat 90 degrees plus. I fish Booyah football jigs 3/8 ounce with Rage craws with good results. Just ordered a Tatula Ct to pair with a refurbished Dobyns Savvy 734c for a jig setup. Once again good advice fishnkamp!
  9. I had been fishing a Rebel popper most of the day with no luck. Wind picks up, popper flies into a tree and over a branch on a cast. I'm thinking no big deal. I'll cut the line and my lure will fall back into water, the current will bring it back and nothing's lost. So I cut the line and the lure hits the water as planned. Water erupts. Big bass hit it and it's gone lol! I can laugh now but back then I was first starting out and was losing more than catching.
  10. My personal best at less than 1 ounce! That's why I carry tomato juice with me at all times Yes sir I give him credit for the bite!
  11. I agree, I was impressed!
  12. Man, I have more pictures of bass on my cell phone than of my family lol!
  13. So I've had a dry spell the past three weeks. I was itching to try a new spot and on the way I said a prayer asking to catch fish. The size or amount didn't matter, as long as I caught something. Well, here it is. The Lord works in mysterious ways ?!
  14. Thanks fishnkamp! Tight lines to you sir!

  16. Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this site for awhile and I'm glad to say I've joined. I've been fishing all my life but have recently decided to seriously dedicate myself to bass fishing as of May 2016. I bought my first baitcaster setup and some lures and haven't looked back since. So far I throw t-rigged plastics, football jigs, squarebills, and spinners. Not the best angler yet, I have days when I'm tearing them up and some days I come home and bathe myself in tomato juice lol! Looking to get out of my comfort zone in the Spring and try some new things. I am a bank beater who fishes ponds and lakes in the Sugarland, Pearland, and Missouri City areas. Most of the time I have no idea where I'm going to go, I just pull up Google maps and find some water and hit it! I'm glad to be here and thank you all for wealth of information you share for guys like me. Tight lines!
