  1. There are baits out there that can go $150+ and some of the customs upwards of $500. The best bang for your buck IMO are the Gantarel and Vatalion, both under $50. Between the two I've had the best luck with the Gantarel Jr and when fished using all the retrieves mentioned above it will put fish in the boat. I've landed some nice ones running it around wood. (Waiting for the day I'll have to pull out the lure retriever.) I've added a large turbo blade to the upper line tie on one of the Gantarel Jrs and started using it along the drop offs early spring with good results. I'm waiting for some parts to make a mod on the tail and I'll report back if it works. Swimbait Nation!
  2. Love fishing at night, but I'm just about finished for the year. That cool night air is hard on my old bones.
  3. There be Hawgs in that jungle, Paw!
  4. Wear it always, Joe, and if fishing at night, attach a water activated strobe.
  5. The Excalibur Shad-R BB put a lot of bass in the boat for me years back. I remember when they were discontinued I went to BPS and picked up a bag full for $1 a piece. I should put one back in my crank box.
  6. Wacky rigged crawfish.
  7. "I'm in the dog house now, I'm in the dog house now..."
  8. I don't think I've ever had a problem with paddle tail baits stored in Plano boxes. I have had a few older soft swimbaits that would lose their original shape/performance after long storage and I placed them in warm water and they retook their original form. That may work for paddle tails should they suffer ill effects from storage.
  9. Good for you my man! I thought it strange when I saw your post as I am planning a road trip the end of April. I've already made a folder with maps and I am so stoked for the trip. Mine is a little different as I'm going to load the kayak into the truck and drive straight to Virginia and start my trip there. From there I am going to follow the migration my 3rd Great Grandfather made after the Revolutionary War. It will take me to North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and then crossing the Ohio River into Illinois where I was born and raised. I'm not putting any time restraints for the trip and I think the only other thing left to do is to purchase non-resident permits come January. This is something my late father always wanted to do, but never did. I think these "bucket lists" are important when you get our age, so do this Sir. If you see this truck out on the highway during your journey, toot your horn.
  10. Hankamania! Big Hank fan here!
  11. I've observed that most of the folks that say that are usually carrying them in their boat.
  12. New tread, needs polish, original owner.
  13. Mail Call Haven't tried the Power Bomb yet, but the Super V-Flat goes through wood like a hot knife through butter.
  14. I miss doing this with the kids, mine are all grown now. Make every minute count! (I like the Army chair.)
  15. Bienvenue, et merci pour votre service militaire!
  16. I'm partial to the Rage Craw.
  17. The hairy legs are a dead giveaway, it's a largemouth.
  18. One of many books handed down from my late father. It's a good read.
  19. Maybe they've grown wise to the more popular cranks being thrown today. You could try switching it up with some "old school" cranks like shad raps, risto raps, or fat raps. You may change your luck throwing cranks that many find a hard time dropping the coin on like Megabass's S Crank or the Z Crank models. Are you throwing straight rattle cranks, silent, or both. Don't give up on your cranks, you'll figure out the code.
  20. Great video with this article. https://www.bassresource.com/fish/crankbaits.html
  21. CBE or CSE Format? Just kidding, I'm just now reading this article. Good read.
  22. I like that, would you mind if I use it? Nocturnal heavy lifting with the Spro King Daddy Frog.
  23. Good day to stay home, play with lures and take naps.
  24. My wife always said I was a hardhead and had to experience discomfort before I learned a valuable lesson. The first time I went for a swim from the yak without a dry bag I had a very long and cold drive back to the hotel room. That dry bag stayed inside that front hatch after that!
