  2. I landed my first bass on a pre-rigged Crème worm in the mid 60s. These pictured were stored away until a couple years ago when I put them in a frame and hung them in the man cave. For 50+ year-old worms they're still soft. I started using Mann's Jelly worms the year after they first came out and still use them. (PB was landed on a 9" Blackberry Jelly Worm.)
  3. One of my vintage Heddon Vamps with "Toilet Seat" hardware. 1927-1936
  4. I received the Bass Mafia Bait Coffin 3700 Deep as part of a BF order last Friday. It will please you, @Burrows that my crankbaits are no longer rubbing against each other. Even though I will need to carry a smaller box for the six deep divers that are usually carried on the kayak, I am quite impressed with Bass Mafia Coffin. It definitely has to be the best built box out there. Bass Mafia has built a tough box and although I wouldn’t recommend testing it against a block of C4, it sure feels bomb proof. I’ll have to make some adjustments to the dividers in the kayak crate as it is slightly higher than the Plano Waterproof Stowaway that I’m accustomed to. It is also noticeably heavier and that will also take some getting used to. Some dividers (7) had to be removed to accommodate the wide bodied S-Cranks and Big Z baits, but even then, I was able to fit 41 baits into the Bass Mafia Coffin. The real test will come this spring when the kayak hits the water, but as of right now, I like this box.
  5. The Yakanator begins his hunt in 89 days!
  6. How did we ever think that girls were more important than fishing? (Hope my wife doesn't see this.) Welcome back to fishing!
  7. I want to fish Mexico, but knowing my luck, I'd have a run-in with the cartel trying to take my new PB.
  8. I've got a couple in the perch pattern, the green is olive color. Getting the truck serviced this morning and I thought I would start a "Go Fund Me" account.
  9. Welcome.
  10. My Jamison Struggling Mouse, made in 1917.
  11. Me ekcelled in math and I were a math teacher! (I still knew how to use this bamboo stik!) BTW @Tyler., check out the Bassrecource YouTube channel. You'll find good instructional videos there.
  12. While putting a second Black Friday order together to replenish some lost tungsten, it dawned on me just how hard it is for folks who may be on a budget to build up a collection of these weights. I do not want to start a tungsten vs lead debate, but rather address the issues some may have when trying to acquire tungsten when they have to watch the coin they drop on these weights. I remember when tungsten weights first hit the market, I bought every size and color available. I always replenished those that may have been lost about every couple of years and now I sit on a good reserve of tungsten, most of which will be passed down to my son one day. When I looked over the terminal box I carry to the lakes to get an idea of what I needed to reorder, It dawned on me that I don't lose that many weights and that I usually only use only 2-3 different sizes of weights. As a result, I have a lot of NOS (New Old Stock) weights still in their original packages to pass on one day. What is my point? You can get by without having every size weight. If you look at the sizes of worm weights in my preferred brand below, you'll notice that from 1/16 to 3/8 there is only a 1/16 oz difference between weights. I've got a lot of 1/8 oz weights that I've never used, I'm either using 1/16 or 3/16 oz weights when going light. Do you need both 3/8 and 1/2 oz weights or can you get by with one or the other? If you have to watch your budget, pay attention to the size difference between weights, you may discover that you don't really need all those weights. (I didn't really need all those weights you see in my order, just want to leave a smile on my son's face when I'm gone.) Darn that free shipping!
  13. I like running them over grass beds on those cloudy days. Favorites: LC Wake Bait, IMA Roumba, and the Megabass I-Loud.
  14. As I begin my journey into those "Golden Years," I have found my level of risk taking go way down. However, fishing the big water on a kayak will always be on my bucket list. This video still is by Rob Valderrey.
  15. This is good advice, @Adleyfishes. Once you've decided what you want to mount on your kayak, check out YakAttack, Railblaza, and Scotty accessories and see what they offer. Always consider the surface area where you want to place mounts before ordering your mounts, make sure there is room for the mount. If you know of someone nearby who has experience in kayak rigging, ask for their help and knowledge. There are a few folks on BR, including moderators, who fish from kayaks, pick their brains for information. There is always a YouTube video showing how to mount accessories also. Know the weight capacity of your kayak and don't exceed it. (Your body weight must be factored in.) One last thing, the most important accessory you will need is a PFD...make sure you always wear one.
  16. I'm going in the dog house for sure. Started another cart on TW. I do this almost every year, place an order on Black Friday, then 1-2 days later I realize that I needed something else and end up spending $50+ to get the free shipping. Sale ends Tuesday afternoon, maybe I can hold out. Maybe I can go ahead with the order and then spend the next week or two getting the wife in an extra good mood before the bill comes. Then there is the annual JDM order come spring. If you guys see any new cement laid somewhere around the house and you haven't heard from me in awhile, you know what happened.
  17. Done. Peanut butter gets em every time.
  18. Daughter has a mouse in her car. You came to the right guy, girl. Your dear ole dad is Oscar Mike! (On Mission)
  19. That's a difference! I've never used that line before, do you know how it compares to Sunline Sniper?
  20. Now if I could only get the bass to not bite so hard.
  21. I hear ya. My son is on the bottom of the totem pole at the police department where he works and my daughter had to be out of state. They can make it home Tuesday, so we're having our Thanksgiving then.
  22. You bet! Soft plastics, line, and terminal tackle. I like the high end stuff, especially the line, and now that I'm living on pensions I have to take advantage of every deal I can. However, I do it all online; you can have all those WWE Rumbles at the stores. I never saw a Black Friday until I retired from the military, I was always deployed. That first one with the wife was enough for me, when we got home I told her never again. I never knew that the human race could go so low.
