  1. Welcome!
  2. Welcome! Set your duffle down and relax, PT, uh, I mean fishing starts at "O-Dark-Thirty."
  3. Welcome. They'll be good Memorial Day weekend sales at most of your tackle retailers.
  4. I've purchased a lot LC baits from ILOVEHARDBAITS over the years. He is legit and definitely a "stand up" seller.
  5. "Sigh"
  6. I've caught females off beds and I release them near the bed. If I see a male guarding fry with circling bluegill, I leave him alone.
  7. Well done sir!
  8. Never heard of this company until now. This came up when I googled Case baits. I guess they make it, either way I ordered a 3 pack, watermelon red, to try. I know exactly where I'm throwing it too. 13" Zip-Zilla.
  9. Just finished watching Glenn and Hank discuss fishing logs and when Hank stated that he couldn't recall how many fish he has caught during his lifetime, it lit a fire under me to try and figure out my own lifetime fish count. I really envy the younger anglers who can use electronic devices to record information related to their catches. I also envy those who are just starting out and who are wanting to become good anglers as they have resources available to them that many of us didn't have. Maybe the first response, to those asking for advice on getting started in bass fishing, should be, "Start a log." The benefit of having a record to review undoubtedly can provide insight into bass behavior, movement, patterns, and weather's role. So, if you're one of those just starting out with rods, reels, and tackle, be sure you make a fishing log part of your equipment. I never had a fishing log, per se, but I've kept journals since the late 1960's. Although my early journal entries are mainly those of a young man's daily exploits, I know there are some describing time on the water. I started keeping separate fishing journals in the late 1980's. It may take me awhile to go through boxes of journals, fishing for me begins in March, but I am going to find out how many fish I've caught in my lifetime. Should my wife or kids happen to see one of my early journals before I intended them to, I'll just blame it on Glenn and Hank.
  10. For a rack of German beer, I can be more specific.
  11. ...and a few packs of flashabou to go with the skirts.
  12. Last body found. https://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Body-found-in-search-for-man-who-drowned-in-area-lake-505377741.html?fbclid=IwAR2iTaCWFbPPjQs9AFqLLgdrB5OnSj7jyDpNJ6uFXiZiAzDkqD3GtGlrBaw
  13. Fish them along the approaches to the spawning beds.
  14. Molle gear, the best thing to ever happen to a milk crate.
  15. I miss that guy. He had a ranch adjacent to the wildlife refuge here and he turned me on to some nice fishing spots. It wasn't his time.
  16. Strong at pitchin and punchin. Weak at skippin, and now that I fish mainly from a yak I doubt I'll ever master it.
  17. Got my copy back yesterday. It was page 90 that caught my attention, specifically where he talks about the 3/4 waxing/waning phase. Now, when I get my lava lamp fixed, I'll pull out my journals and compare.
  18. Bill is recovering in a Mountain Home, Arkansas hospital. https://www.wjhl.com/top-news/regional/bill-dance-recovering-after-heart-stent-procedure/1746672817?fbclid=IwAR2trlGaTmRTCAeWoiSLqJsx1bL9QuBnhaLxZvnH6AfdOjMkArQ5LWAW9tQ
  19. "To the last I grapple with thee; from Hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee. An old, old sight, and yet somehow so young; aye, and not changed a wink since I first saw it, a boy, from the sand-hills of Nantucket! The same — the same!"
  20. I'm guilty of wearing a natural colored PFD and I'll continue to wear it as it has become a favorite. However, being seen is foremost on my mind and I try to take steps to hopefully put the odds in my favor. I carry a panel marker on the kayak, but that is only good if I'm not separated from the yak. I also carry a water-activated strobe and signaling mirror (stored/attached) on the PFD along with two glow sticks, one red and one IR.
  21. Say hello to Recil. Recil Troxel, a WWII veteran from Marlow, Oklahoma, sits by his window everyday waiting for the mail. His daughter says that he receives no bills and that letters are far and few between, but still, he waits for the mailman everyday. If you would like to send Recil a card or a letter, PM me and I'll give you his address.
  22. Careful, you're showing your age with the bead curtain. I've never planned my fishing around the moon phases, when I want to go fishing, I go. I do, however, remember Murphy mentioning how he kept records spanning years and how he compared his largest bass with particular moon phases and that he had made some interesting observations involving the big bass he had caught over the years. I wish I had my copy of that book!
  23. I've been looking for my copy of this book ever since I read your reply and realized that I had loaned it to my brother. I need to get it back and read it again, it was a good read. I think it was in Bill's book where he made mention of the particular moon phase(s) where he caught the majority of his big bass. If you have your copy on hand, could you check it and see if he did indeed mention this in his book?
