  6. Here's one for you @JediAmoeba, oldest spinnerbait in my collection. Shannon Twin Spinner, 1917-1919.
  7. I have a few of those DD90s still in the box, purchased in the 70s.

  12. I throw the Gantarel Jr a lot and have had luck running it through the wood. Don't be afraid to run it along side laydowns and over/ around stumps, the resulting strikes is very satisfying.
  13. Sure miss those Montgomery Wards sales. (Purchased 1978, Fayetteville, NC)
  14. You can never go "overboard" when it comes to safety.
  15. Your guess is as good as mine. I was just looking around the USCG website when I saw this and thought I'd share it.
  16. From the USCG:https://www.uscgboating.org/multimedia/news-detail.php?id=532&fbclid=IwAR08KwW2dTT0OugHMKTZ81n5o0fsRyA1GTAPcanmzU7u1yDBWNHlo4iqn8s
  17. Well, called the Health Dept to get clarification and they said I would be in violation of the order and subject to fines if I had contact with law enforcement. I live outside the city limits and have a straight shot down the highway to reach our wildlife refuge, 20 minutes away. Wildlife refuge is under federal jurisdiction, so I would be ok once I enter, but don't know if I want to chance it. I've never broken a law in my life. Sitting here looking at my kayaks and rods during the spawn is almost too much to bear.
  18. Part of an executive order released by our governor yesterday. Does this mean I'm not allowed to go fishing?? (sigh)
  19. https://smithcountyinsider.com/home-page-featured/body-of-missing-kayaker-found-in-caney-fork-river/?fbclid=IwAR3pKcLBNgsNjrxXo7PdTRlh110c5X6zWCe5wEScd64xVfsKm68XrUwbnW4 PFD was found inside the kayak. Please, wear your PFD.
  20. "No greater love hath a man than this..." The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act, signed into law in 2017, designates March 29 of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
  21. 03/28/20, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The drive out to the wildlife refuge was strange to say the least, traffic wasn't what it usually is for a weekend. The Ed Center and Visitor Center is closed due to the COVID threat, however, fishing and hiking is still allowed. I think folks are still worried about getting out as I only saw one cyclist and one other angler fishing from the bank of one of the lakes. Felt a little strange being the only yak launching because this is usually the busiest month for us. I saw many bucks guarding beds and the bite was slow, but I was able to hook into three of them, using a jig/swim jig. Wish I would have brought a spinner bait as the water was choppy due to the wind. I think this was our first spawn and there will others going into April, although I'm not sure how much longer the refuge will remain open. Get out if you can, the bass are feeling no pressure, that's for sure.
  22. Lakes still open, park offices are closed.
