  1. No way I would want to do that!
  2. Keep yourself hydrated! Current as of 7/16/19 @ 1700 hrs, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
  3. I had to make some changes and send it to my older brother, Bill. He laughed so hard he messed his pants.
  4. That's right, but I do. Launching in a couple of hours. Be safe!
  5. Say what you may, I'm dropping some coin on these boxes.
  6. Mine are collecting dust in the garage. I use waypoints on the sonar now.
  7. Past couple of nights were nice, mid 60s and 74 this morning. NWS says we have a heat dome settling over us for the next week, guess I'll give the fishing a break for awhile.
  8. I really like the sheath design, but I was a little disappointed with the blade sharpness and its ability to hold an edge. I wish NRS would collaborate with SOG (Japan) or Gerber and make a better blade for this knife, one that could be used on a daily basis and not just in emergencies. Keep the knife and sheath design, upgrade the blade material.
  9. The one box I'm really interested in, Jig/Blade box, they don't have for pre-order yet.
  10. Good advice! Check with your local DNR.
  11. That's the best fishing partner a man can have. You are giving him some fond memories he'll remember for a lifetime.
  12. I agree. I love using imagery when planning trips to new water. When I actually went to this spot I found both shallow structure and beds. The best discovery, however, was some nice bass hanging out around those spots.
  13. Retiring one of my Stohlquist PFDs this year and I think I'm leaning towards the new NRS OS as a replacement. I like the pockets, especially the one for radios. Called NRS yesterday and they assured me that my VHF would fit inside. The only beef I've got are the two lash tabs, will they support a knife or strobe? I'd prefer the older tabs that were made of a harder rubber.
  14. Launched a little after 1 a.m. this morning and found conditions a lot nicer than a couple days ago. Water temp was 79-80, but the air temp was a cool 64 and lower humidity. Only got a couple of bucks, but the paddle was really nice, didn't break a sweat. I did find a stressed out girl floating on her side in a mat pocket and took her out to deeper water and released her. She turned upright after 5-10 minutes, but was still struggling. Hope she makes it. If you're around this area and wanting to get out, I think we may have a couple of nice, early mornings ahead until mother nature turns the oven on again.
  15. Thanks @Glenn and @Keri, best coverage I've seen so far!
  16. SS127! See if they'll throw in a free PFD too. (or at least a discounted PFD)
  17. I understand your point, really I do. I also believe that it's harder for the youth today to make a go at it, however, I don't think it's impossible if one has the courage to overcome. I remember riding my bike to the lake and wading into the water to recover my 50 cent Crème worm. That 50 cents was my weekly allowance for farm work. When I turned 17, I volunteered for the Army (didn't wait for a draft notice) and left home with nothing but the shirt on my back. The first time I reported to the pay officer, he counted out a little more than a $100 on the field table in front of me. I sent half to my mother and lived on the rest. (thank God for the free C and beer rations) During the twenty+ years I served my country, I got my GED, a college degree and teaching certificate. I started acquiring high end tackle in the mid to late 80s when my situation improved to the point where I could. Today I have lower priced lures sitting along side my higher end JDM lures. My point, if you want it bad enough, you can have it. My message to the youth today; for most of us, it doesn't come overnight.
  18. 7/10/2019. Launched at 2 a.m. and left right before the sun popped up. Not sure what the air temp was, but the graph said the water temp was 81. I was sweating the water out faster than I could drink it, the humidity was bad! Nothing on the frog and only 3, 1-2 lbers on a wake bait before losing it because I was too lazy to retie a nicked line. They say it will get up to a 100 today. (not including heat index) I may forego the outing tomorrow and hang out at the pool.
  19. He may not remember the details, but he'll cherish the pictures. Good job, Grandpa!
  20. That's great to hear! I was wondering what I was going to do should anything happen to my old Panfish poles.
  21. ICAST 2019. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the new Vibe, a bonafide, Hobie wannabe? I was expecting something new from bonafide; there's going to be some disappointment when bonafide fans can't get there hands on their favorite limited 107/127s color coordinated yaks. (Only 100 ea being made?) Old Town made some upgrades to the PDL. Waiting to see if my favorite yaks reveal something new, but I'm not holding my breath. Kudos to Hobie for the new 360 drive. If anyone finds any other info or pictures on kayak improvements, please share here. Waiting for the vlogers to get info out can be slow and frustrating sometimes.
  22. This is what I did this past weekend while waiting for the revelers to vacate the lakes. Made a new Java mug.
