  1. That's why I carry my "critter" stick.
  2. IMO the Diamante has a more pronounced action and I attribute that to its size.
  3. This bait is advertised as a jointed jerk bait, but it is much more than that. It is not just for those Northern Pike anglers either, Bass like them too. I think I acquired mine for under $15. They are well made and their action is comparable to more expensive glide baits.
  4. I use @Siebert Outdoors Dredge series jigs and they are, by far, the sharpest jigs anywhere. They are built around the Owner Deep Throat hook. If you haven't tried these jigs, you are really missing out.
  5. Welcome home soldier. Master Sergeant Carl Harold Lingquist, SN RA37091273, was listed Missing In Action during the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea, on November 29, 1950. He will be buried this coming Monday at Arlington National Cemetery. Honor him.
  6. I've got both in my box, but I'm always throwing the Giant Dog X, probably due to the confidence with that bait. It has always produced.
  7. There are a couple of places on the wildlife refuge where I have to pull the kayak down narrow paths to get to the water. I don't trust my eyes to alert me to the dangers hiding off the sides of these paths, so I carry my long, trusty critter stick to beat the grass along the edges to convince these masters of camouflage to move. Somewhere in this picture there is a Diamondback Rattlesnake trying to blend in. Do you see him?
  8. Yeah, don't hate on the messenger! I think some are missing the point of this "Tag Study." What I think it does show is that FWC has a very good participation rate with their Tagging Program when compared to other states. Texas is running a close second, and Oklahoma (where I live) well, Oklahoma has a way to go when it comes to reporting tagged catches. Thanks for sharing this @Team9nine, it lit a spark in me this morning and now I'm reading other tag studies and some old Electrofishing manuals.
  9. I've had mine for 5-6 years and check it every year with a known weight, it always weighs on the money.
  10. With few exceptions, that's been the norm for well made balsa cranks. It hurts to lay down the coin for some, but I've been addicted to balsa for many years and there are times when I need my fix. I'll be running a proven, plastic crank around wood or along the bottom and either the bite slows or stops all together. Tie on some balsa and it pushes their button.
  11. Sunrise over the wildlife refuge today.
  12. Do you carry balsa?
  13. William E. Brandenburg was 16 when he enlisted into the Marine Corps on November 27, 1942. (Yes, he lied about his age.) He was killed on November 21, 1943 in the Battle of Tarawa. His remains arrived Wednesday at his home in Ohio, and he will be buried with full military honors this Saturday. Honor him in your thoughts this Saturday. There are still 72,000 American soldiers from WWII who are unaccounted for.
  14. I'd like to bass fish in Mexico, but something tells me I'd need to requalify on the M16 first.
  15. OK, found it. BooYah's head looks wider in the picture. May have to throw a couple of these in the next TW order.
  16. Oh, I'll throw a $ jig, but not if I can't see or be sure what I'm throwing it in. I bought these last winter and forgot about them until I was retying some lines yesterday afternoon. I took one along early this morning because I wanted to see how it swims. I put a swim senko on it after the sun came up and made a couple of casts and I'm pleased how it swims. I think it will produce.
  17. I checked out a new swim jig this morning before loading up the yak, the Megabass Uoze Swimmer. So far, I like what I see and I look forward to throwing it some more once the weather cools off some. (No way I’m throwing a $13 jig in the dark.) It swims with a slight, tight wobble and comes through grass quite well. It appears to be well constructed with wire tied skirt and an underspin willow blade connected via a titanium/memory wire. If I didn’t know better, I’d say it was built around an Owner wide gap, cutting point hook, but Megabass claims it’s their hook. (Extremely sharp.) I now leave the lakes for you working stiffs this weekend, it was a good week.
  18. My favorite hollow body frog! Sunset on the wildlife refuge.
  19. Naw, they were just practicing for the next time you when you pull them in. You did good.
  20. If OK doesn't come out with a pedal drive Big Game soon, I can see myself in a OT PDL.
  21. I have a serious crush on Plano boxes and bags!
