  1. First, I want to thank @Glenn for allowing this post. Last Thursday, a young man lost his father, Warrant Officer Knadle, an Apache chopper pilot. WO Knadle was killed in Logar Province, Afghanistan, while providing close air support for U.S. ground troops. He was based, with his family, at Fort Hood, Texas. He leaves behind a 15 year old son who I know from first hand experience, as well as some of you do also, is experiencing a lot of emotional pain. Chris Payne, a kayak angler from the same community and friend of the family, is organizing what we hope will be a special Christmas for this young man in the hope that it will lift his spirits. We are looking for outdoor gear, specifically fishing, to present to Knadle's son this Christmas. I have put together a small box myself that I'm sending out tomorrow. If you would like to be involved in this effort, you can contact Chris direct by calling 512 517-3916 to discuss the boy's needs, or you can go ahead and send your donation (No Money) to the following address: Chris Payne 2510 Twin Ridge CT Belton, Texas 76513 Lets help introduce this young man to healing waters.
  2. I used one many years ago. My son is still using the same rod, no complaints.
  3. I've got the medium rod already and love it. These are definitely unlike the heavy glass rods I used back in the 70's or 80's.
  4. I only "clicked" the confused because they don't have one for "WOW!"
  5. X3! I'm glad @Hammer 4 mentioned the Rainbow Trout swimbaits being used in waters where there are no trout. If I had a dime for every time I heard someone say you can't catch bass with a trout bait in a lake with no trout, I could make one heck of good JDM order. Apparently, no one bothered to tell the bass in some of the lakes where I've thrown trout swimbaits where there are no trout in the lake, because those same bass have slammed my trout swimbaits. I like @A-Jay's comment about matching the hatch too. Don't be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to this game. "Nothing is written." - Thomas E. Lawrence, Seven Pillars of Wisdom
  6. I've already got a box packed..."sierra papa!" Lets cross this phase line!
  7. Good! I read the story yesterday and I'm glad he's sitting behind a cell door. We don't need folks with anger issues on the water.
  8. There's some good ones here too.
  9. Randy Hale, (Fish & Wildlife) Mamie Maree, and Bobby Williamson are our local "Graffiti Busters" at the wildlife refuge.
  10. If you see Jack and Rose on board, get off quick!
  11. Good haul.
  12. 7'2" Heavy. I had picked up a 7'2" Medium earlier in the year and am very pleased with how it performed. These are not the glass rods we used back in the 70's and 80's, they are much lighter. After using these, I don't think I'll ever crank with composite again.
  13. You lasted longer than me. I went once with my brother (he loves it) and that was enough for me.
  14. What's this, a rod tube sitting next to the front door? Yep, glass cranking sticks are back in.
  15. Agree, my PB and with few exceptions, DDs were landed during the month of March. Yes
  16. Love those folks who fish up in the trees!
  17. Yep, that's what I want.
  18. Mike @Siebert Outdoors has the answer.
  19. ...when it comes to tracking fishing tackle. Third time I checked today and still hasn't gotten any closer. ?
  20. Good video. That's how I've always fished a glide bait, slow to moderate speed. When they start hitting the rear of the bait, I'll speed up the retrieve slightly.
