I've been browsing this site for a couple of years, so my joining is long overdue. My name is Dave. I have the great gift of living within 4 miles of the Fort Hunter landing on the Susquehanna. I'm originally from Madison, Wisconsin, but lived a good chunk of my life in northern Virginia. Avid fisherman since I was 4- I'm 60 now. Wisconsin river, Lake Wisconsin, Mendota, Monona, Wingra, Wabesa, Rapidan, Shenandoah, Burke Lake, Potomac, etc. etc. Retired Marine infantry (yep, 30 yrs in the suck- other than 4 as an air-winger rehabbing after I forgot to duck).
If there is a finer smallmouth fishery than this section of the Susquehanna, I haven't seen it. I'll give away the worst kept secret fishing hole right here in my introductory post. If you are in the water and in view of "our" Statue of Liberty, you are there, my friend. I get there in a powered (trolling motor) Grumman 17' standard- hinged mount- poor man's jet boat.
If you are attending the Great American Outdoor show... (throwing this in here because it's time critical) be advised that they have excellent food (beer and mixed drinks also) upstairs- most attendees never realize it exists. I believe that technically it's for the vendors, but they have never denied me service, so I don't know for sure if that restriction exists.
Anyway, I thank so many of you for contributing to my fishing knowledge while I sat on my intellectual/contributory keester - for that I apologize, and will hopefully rectify going forward.
