  1. The good news for you is..... you have not only new color senko's to throw... you can mix in -spinnerbaits -squarebills -creature baits -jigs -swimbaits I would try and find 1 or 2 other ponds, then rotate to keep the fish guessing and engaged. Cheers.
  2. The bass in larger ponds I fish are gorging on shad. Water boils and swells right on shore. Big mamas too! If it's not pre spawn this weather must just have them super active!
  3. Heading out tomorrow around 11 am. Very excited, even though I hear the reservoir is low. I've got some finesse worms and creature baits on shaky heads rigged up. Some gizzard shad colored squarebills for the shallow water and several other secret weapons ready. Hoping for just some quality fish, dont need huge numbers, but if I can get 5+ fish in the boat, I'll be happy. Cath-N-Release all day everyday!
  4. Sam! Fishing Diascund this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes!
  5. Shaky head, zoom finesse worm. Cranberry flake colored. 4 bass. 10 1/2 pounds with 3 back to back 3 pounders!
  6. 10.5 pounds. 4 fish. 3, 3 pounders on shaky head zoom cranberry flake colored in 2 hours.
  7. Thanks! Tried a shaky head this am. It was 22 degrees out and my squarebills and rat-l traps weren't working. Forced myself to learn shaky heads and caught 6 bass and lost 4 in 2 hours!
  8. Thanks VAHunter. A couple warmer days with a little sunlight seemed to get them biting. Pre-spawn & Spawn cannot get here fast enough!!!!
  9. 5 pounder on a squarebill.
  10. Same squarebill next day:
  11. I just caught a 1.1 pound crappie on gold Saturday!
  12. I'll throw a gold or silver rat-l trap all day in the winter. Especially on windy days with murkier, stained water. Fish go bonkers for it! Nice catch bro.
  13. The fish were on today! Hit a 3 1/2 acre pond in Goochland, Virginia and nailed 6 largemouth. Lost 3. One I lost I fought for a while... got him to my feet on the shore and he shook the lure off. Today the bass were hitting on a Strike King Squarebill. Chartreuse. Nice slow retrieve with a slight twitch. Water clarity was pretty clear, and hardly any wind, sun was out for the most part so the bass were fairly shallow getting some sun, as I'm sure the shallower water was 2-3 degrees warmer. Here's a couple pics from this glorious winter day of fishing! Tight lines, guys!!!
  14. Welcome from RVA. 804!!! Tight lines dude.
  15. In Richmond VA we had a warm day 2 days ago. After all our ponds and lakes thawed out from a week's freeze, it slowly started to warm, but we had one particularly warm day, 60 degrees with 30mph winds which was just perfect for fishing. Murky water and strong currents in a large pond I hit but I still snagged a 3.2 pounder and 2 smaller bass in 2 hours. I was slow retrieving a bagley balsa wood squarebill shallow, with a bright color pattern and it couldn't have been a better selection.
  16. In Richmond VA today... the sun finally reared its head out and it was 60 degrees and gorgeous! Wind was a factor, but a good thing, churning up food and currents were strong. I hit a large pond in Powhatan wanting to try out 2 new Bagley balsa squarebill crank-baits. I picked 2 bright colors as it was murky, and fished em' shallow with a super slow, twitchy retrieve. Caught 2 dinks and 1 chunky 3.2 pound momma in 2 hours. Great fishing! Lost a nice one too... gotta upgrade the hooks on these Bagley's. Cheers VA Anglers!!!!
  17. Thanks so much for the feedback guys. I will post pics from my first trip there mid-February! Cannot wait to start making Diascund a regular spot, as it's 45 minutes from RVA! Cheers and TIGHT LINES dudes!
  18. See you there, Sam!
  19. It's no bass pro shops but in Richmond Virginia we have a locally owned place called Green Top and it puts both to shame! I enjoy my local Cabelas though, if I'm in a pinch.
  20. Thanks Glenn! This is by far the most interactive and friendly bass community there is online!
  21. Big Mike, That's proof right there that you had an amazing father. Calling your dad the "best man you ever knew" says a lot. Im sure he's smiling down from heaven every time you hook a fish too!
  22. Scott Martin is the guy I'd wanna fish a lake with and have beers afterwards with. KVD is a fishing machine, but I enjoy more personality, and Martin has it.
  23. FRY- Just sent you a private message. With some pics from today's haul in New Kent!!! Cheers.
  24. Thanks Big Mike. He's 72 and we try and hang out and fish as much as possible. Time is short! Glad you enjoyed the pics from today. Half the lake was still under ice! It was crazy. Smashing ice with ores just to get the john boat off the dock and smashing more ice to get it on the thawed half of the lake. AWESOME day and totally worth it.
