  1. Will a damiki rig catch largemouth consistently? Every video I've seen on that style seems geared towards smallmouth. Have you folks had luck catching consistent largemouth on this set-up? Seems like a very finesse style for pressured fish that I'd really like to try at my local lake to target finicky largies. Any feedback would be great!
  2. Thanks I’m still pinching myself. The big girls were gorging shad it was windy cold and overcast. The stars aligned.
  3. Got on em Monday with the swim jig and keitech trailer. 7.9 a 7.8 a 4.6 a 4 and 3.4 BEST DAY of fishing I've ever had.
  4. You're already doing it right. Best fishing is past the 2nd bridge. I've only fished Diascund 4 x's but on a john boat.. it's an absolute blast. Good luck, and tight lines!
  5. This is my new PB. Got her in Virginia at 730 am, it was 40 degrees out, and the water was misty/foggy because water temps were warmer than outside... Tossed the topwater frog out by a stump and she came ALL THE WAY out of the water and inhaled the frog. Insane fight. You can see how happy I am. I left my scale in the truck, but she measured 24 3/4" long. A Virginia citation in length (state is 22" or 8 pounds). My previous PB was this July, weighing 6.10. This fish was far longer and heavier. Amazing fish. Tight LINES!!!!!!!!
  6. Thinking about going for first time next week. Early June have the bass moved deep or is the shallow bite still on? Never hear word one on any top water bite success but at 7 am with a popR or frog it's gotta be good yeah?
  7. Giving it a go next Thursday this thread was helpful! Going Shaky head, black trick worm, creature baits on a wobble head, jigs and crankbaits. Def going to throw some top water frogs in the am at sunrise too!
  8. Really slow it down with a creature bait or jig.
  9. Got this guy after work out in the country. 10 acre private pond. Twitched a black zoom lizard (rigged on 8 pound mono and on shaky head) next to a bunch of lillie pads and BAM! Hit it hard, and jumped twice out of the water... When i got her out of the water, she had a HUGE crappie tail sticking out of her throat. Awesome post-work country pond session. Hell of a fight. Cheers.
  10. I'd like to tag along as well HAHA! Cheers and tight lines!
  11. Diascund was awesome yesterday. Caught 5 bass all within 10 yards from the banks. Didn't actually see any bedding females but the bite was great.
  12. My buddy and I had to come back to Diascund. We got skunked in February (fished the right side, not knowing the water... and it was super shallow) but today, we went to the left (under both bridges) and my buddy had a gorgreous spotted bass, and I boated 5 largemouth, 2 pounds being the biggest. Lost a 4+ and a couple smaller ones, but I'm loving this body of water. It's gorgeous, the water is super clear, there's structure EVERYWHERE and we didnt have a fish finder, so we hit main lake points, secondary points and structure plus some fishy fishy looking inlets and creek arms. I can honestly say this is my favorite body of water to fish in Virginia by a mile. Cheers guys! Tight Lines.
  13. Definitely a Ned rig with a black senko
  14. My new PB!!! Shaky head creature bait. Missile baits d-Bomb. 5 pounds 14 ounces!
  15. Definitely GreenTop. Best fishing selection/knowledge. If you're already in Ashland... a little more north and you've got Lake Anna. There's a nuclear plant side with warm water year round, and a natural side where temps vary based on temps. Welcome to Richmond!
  16. Throwing baits that smaller fish wont eat help. IE: a jig with a craw trailer, a larger 4" + swimbait, or a texas rigged creature bait are some I throw that at least dinks will pass on. They still will catch 2+ pounders but at least you're eliminating what you dont wana catch! Good luck.
  17. @racer894 thanks man! good luck out there! unfortunately, this cold weather has put a slow on the crazy action we had about 2 weeks ago, when it was mid-high 70's.
  18. @bigbasshunter Thanks man!! Cheers and tight lines!
  19. Top water is on right now in VA??? Really? Right at sunrise or sunset?? Im excited. The rebel PopR and the booyah pad crasher frogs i've been dying to throw!!!
  20. The big momma's from what I can gather... are also the harder one's to reach, IE: under cover (docks, downed trees, brush etc) so try and get your lure in the toughest spots that other fisherman skip in fear of losing their baits. Good luck. PS: Im no expert, and I skip some spots for this very reason as well.
  21. Ned rigs. Zoom trick worms (shaky head) creature baits (missile d-Bomb or rage tail) Texas rigged. Jigs with craw trailers (black and blue or green pumpkin)
  22. Today. 930 am. 32 degrees. Fat girl on a zoom trick worm.
  23. I caught 20 the other day too! I too just tried the Ned rig with a black senko that I bit in half!
