  1. Large bass hitting Rapala, and Pointer 100 jerk Baits. In last two days 13 fish with smallest being 2.9lbs, and my big fish was 6.9lbs.
  2. 28 degrees tomorrow morning with water temps around 42... 5000 acre lake with d**n on both ends lots of water plus 50ft deep. Lots of shad schooling, lots of timber and rocks on the shoreline. Plan on throwing A rig with white shad, A rig with blue black glitter and white, and lastly for the A rigs exact copy of a shad black top white bottom. I'm also planning to throw shad jerk bait 5" long with red tail, and shad colored pointer 100. C If if you guys were here fishing what area would you hit. I know points and windward side of the lake, but would you spend time finding shad pools and chase them all day or hit the points and structure? Should I spend a lot of time fishing docks and timber laying from shore into the water? the wheels are on at dams should I hit these areas? any help would be great. Ideas?
  3. Guys there so many good ideas, after think awhile I would probably add a drop shot with real worm or crawfish if I could find them
  4. Just curious if any of the Lake Hickory guys are on here.... Also any Saturday morning tournament at Lakeside guys.
  5. Darren, I was curious do you tie just a single knot and coat it with nail polish to hold the knot? That's a great idea.
  6. Interesting all the different response. Now remember you are stranded and have to eat what you catch. I have to honestly say I have never had bass, any insight into the flavor of My favorite fish?
  7. I was sitting around thinking about this, if I was stranded on a fresh water 5000 acre lake and the days were in the 50-60's and water temps were in the mid 40's....What would be my one lure I would choose for survivals? I keep think about a trusted rooster tail for the varieties of fish. So what would you choose?
  8. Good morning all, I have a 10yr old son that has lost his confidence and after 5 trips fishing and a Tournament yesterday he is loosing his desire to fish. I don't understand it, He uses everything exactly like I do. I catch some and he is zero.... So my question is, does anyone know of a pond near Catawba County,(Hickory area) we could maybe visit? Of course we will catch and Release, and respect the land and the water, also he will be the only one fishing. I just want him to catch a few and get that love for fishing back... I'm Chris and my cell is 828-994-7333,My son's name is Preston.
  9. Guys thanks so much for all the help. I went to a smaller weight head a 1/16th head and I haven't had anymore problems. I also went to a shorter leader on my drop shot and over 300 cast today I was only hung twice... I also caught 19.78lbs of spotted bass in 4 of my biggest fish today....14 fish total, 43 degree water. It was a great day on the water.
  10. Thanks I will give this a try tomorrow
  11. I'm sorry I should have mentioned I'm fishing from a Boat. The thing I keep seeing on finesse fishing is slowly move your bait, let sit for long period, vibrate the rod, drag it 2-3 feet and let it settle. I do catch fish this way, just seems I'm spending a ton of time on the trolling motor going in the the good fish or get my rig unhooked or unstuck in the rocks. I defiantly need need to work on that feel of it coming across the Rock and noticing the drop and to scooting across the gap. Even with down imaging watching my lure I get snagged...lol. I'm a terrible fisherman I know, just started 3 months ago but spend 3-4 days on the water, rain or shine and even this past weekend in 8" of snow. I have to get better at some point.
  12. Just curious if there is a place to maybe ask a few questions I'm having a little trouble with? I did the 83 Mercury 18-25 conversion and it seems to run outta gas, anyone know the factory setting for all carb adjustments? 70 jet in it. This motor is new old stock and runs a 14' boat with floors and all gear at 31mph.... Kinda scary in a boat this small.
  13. We fish Norman a lot, and you are correct sometimes it seems like the clean with 3-4' white caps.. We fish the Denver side a lot right near Lake Norman marina.
  14. Hello new member not sure if this is the right location or not but I need to ask a guys a question, in reference to bottom fishing with drop shots Carolina rig's Alabama rig Texas rigs how do you keep from getting caught and hung up on the bottom in rocks and trees.? It seems all I do is spend time retrieving my shaky heads and drop shots? Most of the time I it seems to be my weights hung in rocks. I use egg shaped, come, and even the 2" long stick weights they advertise no snags. It seems even with my umbrella, A rigs the weighted head with my 3" shad and plastics are hung up every 5-6 cast. What at am I do wrong fishing Lake Hickory and Lake Norman North Carolina 45 degrees water temp throwing flutes w/ weighted hook, shaky heads, drop shots everything. Fishing shore past docks, 40-60 deep bridge pylons, structures, deep holes. crappy fishing, grubs, small buck tails.
