  1. When fishing larger 10 inch + worms how long do you set the hook after you feel a bite. I was fishing a fairly clear reservoir and saw this small 6 inch bass before it saw me and figured what the heck, I casted my 6 inch culprit ribbon tail at it and it took it and held it. I was watching patiently for it to take the hooked part of the bait in it's mouth but it just swim off holding the tail. I felt the tug and "set" the hook knowing full well I was going to miss the fish but it got me thinking. How long should you wait for average size bass (13 to 15 inches at this reservoir) to take a zoom ol monster or is it simply just a a matter of luck. I've never fished bigger than 7" worms but I hear they're great when the weather gets warm
  2. In clear water or using swim jigs I use 12lbs flouro but the sensitivity you get with braid fishing the bottom is amazing and definitely worth having around. It took me a while to learn but knowing a good flouro to braid leader knot (improved albright knot) was my greatest evolution into bass fishing. Complete game changer when you feel a rock, subtle bite or even knowing how hard or soft the bottom is. I also get more jigs back since I'm able to feel myself getting snagged and can sort of feel my way out of it. Plus using stronger pound test helps getting your lure back too.
  3. I bought 2 packs (1 pumkin punisher and 1 of the hot tips) around December and I also bought a generic bass pro version (morning dawn) to try which is perfect for holding the name brand too lol I just combine the 3 into the bass pro bag.
  4. Thanks for the suggestions, Seibert outdoors seems like a pretty reasonable company. I really like the footballhead jigs

Sexy shad Rage blade/ 8.) Senkos... duhh/ 9.) Black and blue or toledo special Paca chunks/ 10.) White with black flek bitsy tubes... close to making the list: rebel popper in- line spinner Ultra-vibe speed craw
  6. Was wondering if weed guards are really necessary on swim jigs. I fish mostly reservoirs with zero cover (except for the rocky shoreline) I would think it would increase my hook up if I just do without it. I should probably say I have no experience with swim jigs but I bought a couple different brands to try just in case a rage blade or a spinnerbait is too much action. I bought 2 gambler swim jigs 2 strike king swim jigs and 2 Buddha. Any trailer recommendations also appreciated. I have swim senkos and bento minnows
  7. Looking to expand or maybe simplify my tackle lure selection. I know the Ultra-vibe speed craw is a versatile bait that can be fished on the surface, in the middle water column or on the bottom, but what are some other baits that are as versatile as the speed craw. Lipless cranks and jigs are pretty good as well. I want to know what you guys think of when I say versatile.
