  1. 90% of the time I fish for smallmouth is in a creek and usually only even bring a pack of senkos, wacky rigged. Gonna go with that.
  2. Really depends on the rod, I've had 7' MH/F rods that were excellent for frogging, and I've had other 7' MH/F rods that were just too soft to reliably frog with.
  3. Every winter I go over my rods and reels and decide which ones I'll be keeping and which ones I'll be replacing. Gives me something to do when it's cold.
  4. BPS Tournament Series 4" in Roadkill color.
  5. Tatula Elite AGS 7' Ehrler/Tatula SV 7.3:1 My do-it-all outfit for lightweight stuff
  6. Tatula SV is a great value at $200, you can even get them alot cheaper on eBay. I got mine new from an authorized dealer for $129 shipped. I use mine for weightless Texas rigs, wacky/neko rigs, and anything else 1/8oz and lighter.
  7. Cavs might be able to hobble out of this series... Maybe. But they're gonna get whacked in the second round.
  8. The original Tatula, not the XT
  9. Had something happen last year that could have potentially been tragic. We loaded the bass-raider style boat into the bed of my brothers truck, strapped it down, ready to hit the road. Driving down a bigger country road with 4-5 cars behind us, mind you it was 5 am so it was dark, I look out of the side mirror of the truck, and every car behind us quickly swerves into the oncoming lane. Not sure if a deer or something walked into the road or we lost something from inside the boat, we pulled over at the next intersecting road, got out and checked the boat. Sure enough, our giant cooler was gone.. turned around and just down the road the cooler and everything inside it (I had just turned it into a livewell the day before ?) lay in pieces all over the road. I'm just thankful no cars were hit, as that could have been a very bad situation.
  10. Spend as much time on the water as you can
  11. With just having gotten into the higher end side of things in the past 2 years or so.. I wouldn't say that it's made me a better angler, but it has made my time spent on the water much more enjoyable. And that's worth it to me
  12. Awesome, thanks for all the info. Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for
  13. How do you like the 7'2" for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits? Been eyeing it for this purpose.
  14. Flipping- good around cover. Laydowns, docks, light vegetation, ect. Football- good for dragging, I like them on rocky bottoms. Finesse- when you need to downsize, I like these for fishing rivers for smallies. Those are probably the 3 types I'd start with. Alot of good jig companies out there, I use Strike King and All Terrain Tackle mostly.
  15. Irod Fiber is another good one to look at
  16. 7.1:1 minimum for me, I use an 8.1:1 right now
  17. That's my exact thought process, get a limit fast, and try to upgrade from there. I just feel it takes alot of pressure off of me to have a full livewell, regardless of size. Then I can "relax" more, and focus on upgrading.
  18. I know this is an older thread but for what it's worth I threw jigs on a Veritas 2.0 7'3 MH/F last year.. it did ok for me, sensitivity was lacking as far as feeling what your jig is doing, but bites stood out well. Definitely not a traditional MH power, it's more like a Heavy and is stupid powerful.. while I mostly enjoyed it, I'll never own one again, too many better rods out there at the same price.
  19. I've been retooling my setups over winter and currently have 2 outfits, the plan is to have 6 by Summer to cover everything I do.. here's what I have now.. 1. Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS 7' MMH/XF paired with a Tatula SV 7.3:1 and 12lb P-Line Ultimate Flourocarbon. Mostly bought this one to replace my spinning rod as I greatly prefer casting gear. I throw underspins, wacky and neko rigged senkos, weightless plastics and also jerkbaits. 2. Daiwa DX Type LT 7'4" H/F with a Tatula CT 8.1:1 with 65lb Power Pro.. pads, mats and other heavy vegetation.. frogs and flipping.
  20. Pretty much this for me. I usually always start with moving baits and fish fast, and if that doesn't work I will gradually downsize to more subtle presentations.
  21. Been using P-Line Flouroclear for a couple years and really like it, especially for the price.
  22. You have more discipline than I. I have trouble going 6 hours.. lol
  23. A big bluegill has taken my daughters, she casted and sat it down to go play and it took off into the pond. Luckily it was a very small pond and she had a bobber on, kept my eye out for it and saw the bobber surface after a few minutes, casted to it and drug in back in.. and caught the fish!
  24. Following... I'm new to this and looking at the Feel Free Lure 10 at the moment.
