My previous boat, center console, I had a bow mount trolling motor. I used it a lot. The boat I have now cannot have a bow mount trolling motor so I anchor. Works for me.
I bought a Raymarine Dragonfly 7. It came with Navionics, sonar, downview, temperature. It works very well for me. I fish Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, St. Clair River and Charleston Lake and the downview is always clear.
I have to learn to use the tackle I have instead of buying more.
I have to learn to use my baitcaster better so I get less backlashes.
And lastly...
I have to learn to accept that there are some poor lost souls that do not like fishing.
Charleston Lake, Ontario
It's 20 minute drive to Brockville, Ontario for shopping and touristy stuff
Clear water, lots of smallies, great beach, lake frontage cottage rentals
For me fishing has changed a lot since the mid-sixties. Better reels, rods, tackle choices. TV shows and internet sites provide more educated guesses. Catching, unfortunately, has remained exactly the same. I keep telling myself that someday I will catch a 3 pound Smallmouth or 4 pound Walleye ?
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. I would pay no more than the launch fee to the available lake in the area
4. Yes for a nominal fee because more useful info is always good
Is Epps still in the same old building? I haven't been there in close to 20 years. Always stopped and bought stuff on the way to Lake Kipawa. They had good prices even then
I consider myself to be a very novice angler even after fishing for the last 50 years.
I really enjoy spending time on the water and catching a fish is the day's bonus.
