  1. I agree Charlie! When in the Corps I voluntarily rode out quite a few in Coastal NC. I do believe age has brought about some wisdom. At that time I was rubbing nickels together to take care of the wife and kids and if I had come home and found someone looting my stuff I probably would have gone to jail. Admittedly I would be better prepared now but it is just stuff!
  2. I really like Power Pro and Suffix. That's how I feel on the matter.
  3. Try this... https://www.***.com/fishing_knots/alberto-knot Lots of ideas here.
  4. I love Lilly pads. I would emphasise to SLOW DOWN! I really like to use a Culprit 7" or longer weightless worm on a straight hook. Patience please!
  5. Buy a quality PFD and consider how you'll get back in if you should go swimming. That can still happen, especially with a first boat!
  6. I have been wondering the same thing too. Admittedly I have not had a great deal of success with jigs but I can't see enough difference between the ones I have and others.
  7. Yes sir, and I am not a little man!
  8. Top water is SO addictive! I believe those hollow body frogs are filled with cocaine when you first buy them.
  9. I had something similar with a 20HP Johnson on it. It was quite stable and allot of fun! Mine still had the center section between the 2 stock seats open though. +1 for what's said above without a doubt. If it all works as advertised I might offer $1000. What do you hAve to pull it with?
  10. Thoughts and Prayers to those in this st o Mrs path. Now the Cat4 storm is expected to spend 2 - 4 days just sitting, spinning and raining. I hope not many lives are lost. I heard today on the radio that New Orleans is not prepared for the storm surge. Do you think that is due to incompetence or what?
  11. Glad you're fully back in the saddle. As the parts age we need to exercise a bit more care sir! I can relate!
  12. Good for you! I filled the deck of my boat on the way back to the launch the other day, minnow buckets, Gatorade bottles, coffee cups, worm bags, was worm cups. It's sickening!
  13. My Dad was a Chef, back when there was such a thing. I was volunteered to bus tables very early in life. Lawns Leaves Shovel snow Etc...
  14. I guess my trip to Dale Hollow is quite a bit easier to plan!
  15. I was about 6 years old in 1962 and my Dad took on what's called a "Party" boat out of BelMar NJ. That's where about 30 - 50 people go out in the Atlantic ocean about 6am and motor out for a couple hours. We would drift fish with short stiff rods using cut bait and 3 -4 ounce sinkers until 2 or 3 when you head back to the pier. It was a tangled mess when several people hook up at the same time. Mostly Bluefish, a few sharks, rays too. I remember Bluefish as tall as I was when Dad held 'em up. Was a long day for a 6 year old!
  16. Nope, may start though.
  17. The only one I compete with is myself! I have spent a TON of money this year because I bought my first Bass boat and I am having a blast. I just relocated to NC so everywhere is new water to me. That makes it even more fun.
  18. Agreed, living in the sticks is great. A rooster every morning!
  19. That's wonderful!
  20. It is a blast to catch Pike on a spinner bait. They hit like a freight train!
  21. I believe it's Rio Bravo. One of the Duke's best!
  22. I am guilty as charged!
