  1. Hello all, I recently grabbed some 6-inch Megabass Mag Draft swimbaits. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for rods and reels for throwing a swimbait that size? I'm more interested in reel choice. I imagine a slower gear ratio and a reel with a deep enough spool for like 15Lb fluorocarbon. Any recommendations will help! thank you!
  2. Oh I'm very aware of these bodies of water as well. You know what youre talking about
  3. Yeah. they wont allow anything of the sort and that may be the best solution. thanks kid caught an 8 lber there with a deep diving crank. was 8 lbs on the scale. ive only heard stories of fish up to 10 in there. but cannot confirm anything. I was in shock to see the 8lber. PA is no big bass state.
  4. For sure good bait for river flatheads but I have been told these bass have been caught that way. Only other thing I can think of is a deeper diving crank because that is where I feel they will be. There's not too much cover.
  5. Greetings from PA.. Catching bass that are in the 5 pound range is very uncommon where I'm from unless you're fishing private waters. However.. There is a reservoir about 20 minutes from my location that holds a bunch in that range and even fish 8-10 lbs. What would be the best approach at targeting those giants? I was thinking live lining sunfish with weight and casting it toward the middle to trigger that big bite ( No boats allowed ). Old timers tell me that's the best way. What do you guys think? The body of water is DEEP. Eager to hear all sorts of suggestions as how to go about this. Thanks yall.
  6. One of the most talked about lures out right now is the Whopper Plopper. Originally a Muskie lure, it is now available in Bass sizes because of their success. At a pricey $16 a piece, I am considering trying them out. They look really cool and the action is impressive. Rumor is that they catch big fish. What is your take on the Whopper Plopper? does anyone catch big bass on them? What colors are best? Thanks for reading. Fish on!
  7. That sounds great. I agree to never over look the jig and senkos are always a good go to lure.
  8. I'll look into the ned rig
  9. HAHA That would be a heck of a catch. thanks man
  10. Thanks man! its a great approach for sure. I'm going to try that.
  11. Good advice. Thank you.
  12. Thanks for the reply. I mainly threw the frog because there was still algae covered over the pond. I might have to look into swim baits. thanks
  13. What's going on fishing community? This Spring I plan on fishing a farm pond I previously fished this fall. I know for a fact there are 4-5 lbers in abundance there; maybe even 5+ lbers. How do I target the bigger bass of this pond more efficiently without catching dinks? What lures would be recommended? Also a side note - These bass seem to like the banks. I had a 5lber slam my top water frog at the edge. Thanks everyone!
  14. Thanks for the input! Ill check out some of these for sure
  15. Beautiful color on these fish! Awesome pictures!
