  1. Wyco last year was on fire and as long as the grass stays I can only imagine that it will continue to be. The smallies are HARD to find, but when you do it is generally a good one. What is weird about it is that 3 or 4 years ago the smallie numbers were better with folks catching big ones now and again. Now it isn't as much of a numbers lake as it is producing big fish all around. I'd go out in the evenings this summer and fish deep grass edges. I'd be out there for two hours or so and if I didn't have a 4+ largemouth it was disappointing. I know of a couple of guys throwing the A-rig who caught several largies over 6 this spring, but the lake really doesnt turn on until the heat of the summer when they get predictable on certain spots.
  2. The couple that we caught weren't very big. Honestly if you are looking for a big smallmouth you should fish Wyco Lake. I fish that lake 3 or 4 evenings every week after work and I'm confident there is a state record in there. It's produced 6+ pound fish.
  3. I've fished it and can verify that it has smallies and some nice largemouth. I've only every been on it once, but it was a good time. Not many people know about it as it is definitely off the beaten path.
  4. Has anyone been down to Wolf here lately? I know they do plant maintenance around this time each year which turns the hot water off. It's been awhile since I've been down and thought about hitting it this weekend. Fishing this year out there has been off so hopefully the cold snap will get things moving again!
  5. Yea we surprisingly didn't get any takers on topwater. They would come up and smack it, but wouldn't commit to eating it. Everything we caught was either on a jerkbait or dragging a plastic. Had my heart broken as a 5 pound drum trucked my Megabass....had me going for a few seconds lol.
  6. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut about this, but for anyone interested I think Melvern is back on the upswing. A full day of tossing a 110 caught us a ton of nice fish.
  7. Hit up Lacygne this weekend for a few hours and noticed the plant wasn't generating. I spoke to a guy crappie fishing who works at the plant and he said it will be down for 6 weeks while they do some work to the station. Bummer as that lake can be tough to fish if they aren't making power. Good news is that the fish were up shallow and biting. Dragging a jig and creature bait produced the best results. Water temp has dropped to 78 and the shad are starting to get active. Hopefully only a few more weeks until the big ones start to gorge themselves!
  8. Gents I am in need of some advice for late October fishing on Beaver Lake. I'll be staying on the north end of the lake near the dam and want to get a couple of friends on fish. I can make a long run down to dirty water, but both of them live toward the dam and I'd like to show them some techniques that will work around that area. I'm thinking of approaching Beaver like I would Table Rock at this time of the year, but I've heard it fishes much different than the Rock. Small shad baits work well? I was thinking flukes, damiki rig, drop shot, ned rig, etc would be tied on. Is there much of a dock pattern down there at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  9. Hey guys I used to post on here once in awhile and still check up and read your guys' posts. I'm friends with a few of you on facebook....Cameron Buck. Decided I'd get back on here and join the party haha. I need to figure out how to post pictures on here, because from what I remember you have to use another site or something of that nature correct? Like Photobucket?
