Maybe its strictly a confidence thing but I use a Abu Garcia Orra winch 5.4:1, 22 IPT for frogging where I see a lot of guys using higher speed reels with 29-32 IPT.Anyone else use the lower IPT over the burners?
If your willing to drop 100 you might as well drop 130 and get something better.St. Croix Mojo Bass is a fantastic rod for 130. For 100 look at the Falcon Bucoo,Fenwick HMG,Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 or Duckett Ghost.
I was going back and forth between the Irod Gen II,Carrot Stix wild orange and the Lews custom speed stick.I chose the Lews because it will throw 3/4 where the others are 3/8 and 5/8.I like that I can throw heavier plugs.
Same rod I throw mine on.So sensitive I can feel it when a fish farts.
I have the 7' Veritas 1st gen. That thing fishes like a H not MH.I use it as a frog rod.I don't know if the 2.0 is the same.
I do the 3 combo thing too. However one of my rods is my frog rod.So i carried a baitcast reel spooled with mono in my bag and swapped out between topwater and my jig reel. Im getting a new topwater rod since swapping reels and re lining the guides is a pain in the you know what.Unfortunately im going T-Rig only on my spinning gear so now im going with 4 combos this spring.
Same here.I lose them all the time.Especially frogs.I bank fish from so many tight spots that i can pinpoint a spot sidearmed standing on one leg.I hate when I cant get one out of a tree, and when i go back the next day someone else managed to get it!
Ive climbed trees for these guys.Custom Lunkerz Spy Pops.3/4 oz of topwater madness. They make so much noise between the popper in the front and prop in the back that bass massacre these things. They hit those with pure hatred and very violent strikes.
So I was doing some digging on the interwebs looking for the actual rod weights. All I could find is the lure weight ratings.Does anyone know of a site that has this information or anyone that has one that knows the weight off hand? Specifically the 6'7" jerkbait rod.Any help would be much appreciated.
