Whats wrong with a M baitcaster?? MF for topwater trebles like poppers and walking baits and also jerkbaits, MM for cranks.
However the answer to "how many setups do i need" is "ALL OF THEM"
Same here.I have it on 5 with a looser than normal spool tension and im not the least bit concerned with a backlash.I thumb as the bait hits the water because my thumb wont allow it.Its automatic at this point. If you are backlashing this reel my guess is you're trying to throw it across the pond.Set and used properly it casts like a dream.
Hit the pond for a couple hours today. One bite on a PB&J Rage Craw T-rigged.Missed the hookset of course. Was pitching it right in front of their faces and they were just laughing at me underwater. So many muskrats too.I dont ever recall there being that many.It will get better in the next week or so.
I still havent used them yet.Im breaking them out next week though.Someone said the heads are plastic.Since i have only seen the pre-rigged packs and not a pack of replacements i wonder if the heads are just meant to be disposable. You would amass a bunch of swim heads pretty quick buying them.
I run into guys all the time on the pond i fish.We mostly BS about what they caught and what lures they are getting bit on.If i can give another a tidbit of info on whats catching fish for me,and tat in turn works for him, maybe we both have a great day.
As the others have said as well. Its not your pond. Its his pond. You're lucky he lets you fish it.If you have a problem with the way he chooses to maintain his property,go fish elsewhere.
I cant wait for topwater. You know its going to be a good day when you see them jumping out of the water.I too would frog fish all year long if i could.
