  1. I'm intrigued by the Shimano Crucial 7' MH CB rod on sale at TW and I'm considering picking on up. I currently have a Dobyn's Fury 705CB that I'm throwing squarebills/lipless cranks on that I was planning upgrading with one of the mislabeled Champion 735CB Glass rods. I would consider the Crucial with some positive feedback. Has anyone fished these rods that may be able to provide some feedback?
  2. I'm looking for a recommendation for a 5:1 reel for deep cranking. I have an Orra Winch and Tatula CT but I'm looking for something a little more refined. What do you guys use?
  3. I have this rod and have paired it with the Tatula SV and Curado K, both in 6:1 gear ratio. I have no experience with the Zillion SV but I have had a Zillion TWS. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I may prefer the Tatula SV slightly to the Curado K. It took me a while to dial in the Tatula SV after having many Tatula CT's. After getting used to them I much prefer them over most reels. Dollar for dollar it's hard to beat the feel and performance of the Tatula SV (can be had on ebay for $132). I have to say I absolutely LOVE the rod and will be getting another one. I've been throwing med-deep diving cranks. It's very light and the action is perfect for trebles with a really solid back bone. I have yet to throw a chatter bait on it but plan to soon.
  4. In my limited experience this is what I've found. I'm having to constantly retie and I'm not throwing in/around cover. I'm in the habit of making a pretty hard hook set and I've had the line snap more times than I care to mention. I switched over to copoly and those issues are gone. I'm thinking about going braid to fc leader on a couple of my trig setups to see how that goes.
  5. Spend a little extra and get this: http://dobynsrods.com/store/#!/DC-735CB-GLASS-labeled-DC-736CB-GLASS/p/78078712/category=22175368
  6. Academy has buy 3 get 1 on GYB Senkos & Whopper Ploppers (the only ones I've noticed, I'm sure there is more). For the saynkos it comes to $4.72/bag
  7. If you are looking for an XG https://www.jandh.com/ Forgot to mention, use coupon code for 10% off. Comes to $161.99 for the reel. Google for the promo code it's a bunch of letters all mixed up.
  8. Are the compartments fixed?
  9. I have both and to me it's a toss up. Like with pretty much anything it's going to come down to personal preference and feel.
  10. Pretty much same for me. Except GYB Senkos. They always have my color and they are like $6.29/bag. I'm sure they ship my crankbaits in like 6 different orders but I'll take it.
  11. I've got one I'm looking to move if you guys are interested. Picked up a Champion XP 765 to replace it.
  12. May only be in TX but they are also doing $10 off $50. I picked up 12 total new 3xd's, 5xd's, and 6xd's a@ $3.56each out the door. Pretty decent deal.
  13. I say it Sane-Ko
  14. Anyone notice Dobyns came out with a new budget line? $79.99 price point. Interesting and not sure what niche this fills.
  15. It is funny that someone like myself, who didn't know what the NED rig was prior to joining, that when you look at a huge thread like that you do assume it must be something complicated. I'm reading through it wondering what I'm missing. LOL.
  16. Don't forget Lew's!
  17. I don't think the Curado rods are out yet. Are they giving you a better deal than dobyns?
  18. Chartreuse 5" trigged gyb senko - weightless
  19. It's a feel thing for me. I just mess with it for 5-10 minutes until it feels right and doesn't backlash. I think I have the breaks 2 on 2 off, spool tension really loose, and the side break on 1 or 2.
  20. I have both and the only thing I throw on the 703 is weightless senkos. 704 for lighter t-rigs. 744 for 3/8 and 1/2 jigs.
  21. @JustJames here you go:
  22. It is on my boat at the lake. I will take a pic as soon as I'm over there. It didn't feel much different in my hand than the I.
