  1. How did the guy determine that he put 75 yards of line on both reels?
  2. A short leader of mono has little stretch. You have to be aware that you are not fishing with line that stretches. The "problem" is you. Yes I have seen that senario with a guy I used to fish with. I quit fishing with him. If you can't control your hookset motion and want to use superlines, use a more flexible rod and reduce the reel drag setting so they will give when you won't.

  4. That is false information. You CAN use the FishID that Humminbird has since it won't assign fish symbols to debris, only fish that meet the criteria to be assigned the symbols. What you describe is what other brand's fish ID does. I use it all the time to see fish within cover like this: This is a large school of shad, none of them were assigned a fish symbol since they didn't meet the criteria to be assigned the symbols: This is a huge school of crappie, only a few of them were large enough to be assigned the fish symbols:
  5. That is a 1/2" cable sleeve and it covers both cables to within about 1 foot of the plugs.
  6. The Premium version does not have the Sonar Charts feature. Hotmaps Platinum and Navionics+ and Platinum+ have the Sonar Charts feature
  7. Since you have it on the trolling motor, does the screen look the same when the motor is running and when it is not running?
  8. It's been a slow year for me due to the extended cold weather. 337 bass so far which is 317 less than this time last year.
  9. It is a simple gray scale dual frequency 2D sonar unit. It should work perfectly with no adjustments IF it has the proper power, the transducer is installed correctly, and you are on the water with the transducer submerged.
  10. The XTM 9 DI 25 T is the trolling motor puck version that works with your unit. No adaptor needed and comes with the stainless steel clamp for the trolling motor. It looks like the large one in this picture:

  12. Check your PM, got just what your son needs.
  13. For the replacement, get the proper transducer for the application. There are trolling motor puck versions for most technologies. What Humminbird model is it???
  14. Somewhat more maintenance. a lot more operating cost. Then there is the vehicle towing capacity that has to be included and its operating cost.
  15. Yep. went that route and the reverse too. BOAT= Break Out Another Thousand Then there is that liquid that is required to make the horsepower of the larger engine---gasoline.
  16. 10HP is the largest motor allowed to be operated on Briery Creek Lake and Sandy River Res. At Lake Anna and the James River there is no limit. Before I got the Tracker PT 170 TX I have now, I used a 2-stroke 9.9 Merc on my 12' flat bottom jon boat. I have a 4-stroke 9.9 Merc on my Tracker--it is setup to fish those two lakes and electric-only waters.
  17. Humminbird recommends this for their displays It won't destroy the anti-glare coating on the screen.
  18. I think you need to state what technology you want or expect within that budget.
  19. If he wants to use the US2 transducer, The Down Scan technology will not work with a 2D transducer.
  20. It doesn't make any difference since both record from right to left across the display. A wider screen just displays more history. One cannot show more structure than the other since "stuff" is recorded one vertical row of pixels at a time.
  21. If you are using IE 10 for your connection, that may be the issue. Try Firefox or Google Chrome. There are compatibiltiy issues with IE 10
  22. Agree
  23. You are correct with your model numbers, I made a mistake with the numbers and used the SI model number I was in a hurry typing that since I had conversionation going on wth a couple other sites at the same time. There is a 2D model 386ci Combo and a DI model 386ci DI Combo. There is a 2D portable model with case-- 386ci Combo Portable. The 386ci DI Combo is equivelent to the Elite 4 HDI except for the mapping capability. The Elite 4 HDI can read mapping products software --Insight and Navionics. Lowrance does not have a small screen model equivelent to the 398ci SI Combo. That does Side Imaging, Down Imaging, 2D sonar, and GPS. The Elite series that don't have the "X" in the model number can use mapping products and the Humminbird 300 series units cannot. There is an Elite 4x HDI that is not a Chart Plotter--just Down Scan and 2D sonar.
  24. My switch is a common toggle switch, nothing noteworthy or worth taking a picture of. I prefer to use the antenna mount for some applications. My GPS antenna at the transom is flat on the deck. The antenna is not a satellite dish, it is just a multi-channel antenna and doesn't have to be "aimed" at the sky. Some place the antenna under the deck of fiberglass boats and is not visible. It just can't have radio frequency blocking material between it and the satellites.
