  1. I "find fish" with my electronics and fish for them just like I would if I could visually see them.
  2. Yep. that occasionally happens even with a brand new out of the box unit. Before you do anything else, hook the unit power cord directly to a fully charged, good condition, battery to see if that is the issue. Screwy power will cause lots of symptoms. The speed sensor you have no connection for is the speed wheel accessory. GPS speed is what you get when the GPS is working--two different things. You can look up the flat rate repair charge on the Humminbird web site. Yes Humminbird will fix it at the same place it is made--Eufaula, Alabama.
  3. The recessed foot pedal tray solves the one foot deal for cable steers. There is also that little deal at a recent tournament that the adaptor plate lock failed on a couple of boats and the motors went overboard. The more "tricks" you add the more you can get tricked.
  4. I've fished it many times. It is about 2 miles from my house.
  5. Drag a heavy jig with superline on the bottom to figure out what the unit is showing you.
  6. Ask for the price of a new 175 HP motor? That will give you a perspective.
  7. Walmart, AutoZone, Advance, etc Do a web search for 2" to 1 1/4" hitch adaptor.
  8. The Pure Poison is just OK. It does better than the straight split ring connection between the blade and jig head knock-offs since the split ring is inside the jig head.
  9. I was fishing clear water yesterday. I used watermelon with red flakes, green pumpkin with gold flakes, and dark purple with green and red flakes. One of the bass I caught jumped and ejected a solid white worm. It makes no difference to the fish what color you use.
  10. They (pro bass fishermen) like to operate their motor by feel so they can concentrate on fishing instead of looking at the motor to see what directlon it is pointed. Same here. Open water fishermen (pro walleye) like to use the electric steer types.
  11. Caught this dink yesterday with a finesse worm
  12. The past few weeks I have used about 150 Zoom finesse worms. I rig them like my avatar. Most of the time they do not "save the day", they are the day.
  13. Zero boat speed and Fine/Fast rotation speed.
  14. Yes, if you go that route and get a trailer kit, be vigilant and make sure you get the certificate of origin in the package or mailed at the same time the trailer is shipped. Most likely the origin is China. Been-there-done-that !!!!
  15. A couple of weeks earlier I was doing the same, caught the same number but it took me another hour to get that number. That was more pre-spawn conditions.
  16. Sort of, caught 52 bass.
  17. Wrapped guides can be installed around the blank in either direction. If you custom build one, base the wrap direction on which side the reel handle is on. The biggest benefit of the spiral wrap is eliminatiing the rod torque when under load. With conventional guide placement, under load, the blank twists and results in failure over time.
  18. How about "sight fishing" for bedding bass in muddy water with about 2" visibility? That is what I was doing yesterday.
  19. When I need a heavier weight than steel finishing nails, I use the lead nails that are marketed by the company that produces the Sluggo. I wacky rig to 30'+ sometimes. Check with Jans Netcraft for mold types--they don't carry the nail molds but may help you with finding some. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/worm-sinker-molds/] Check with Barlow's also
  20. I had a couple of good days recently-- up to 547 bass now.
  21. You can view the current maps on the Navionics web site by clicking on the Web App.
  22. Make somewhat short recordings, It is very boring watching a recording longer than 15 minutes. There are a couple of computer viewers that I use to check for content. Download and install HumViewer and DeepViewFV .
  23. Most of the blurry line on each side of the centerline is due to the unit recording echos from the aerated water coming off the bottom of the hull. In your first picture, the "cloud" on the left is due to prop areation of the water and is shown as the distance from the transducer, not the depth.
  24. The news reports stated that none of them were wearing life preservers.
