  1. You used my illustration of the white trick worm which has nothing to do with rigging a Senko. The white trick worm ends up like my avatar (weedless wacky) with a 3/0 Gamakatsu Octopus hook #02413 If you use actual 5" Senkos like the chartueuse example, you do not have to heat the shrink tubing. Most knock-offs don't have that diameter, so maybe you would want to shrink the tubing some. #2 is the best for the most successful hook-ups.
  2. There are several "portable" models. You may mean the one-piece type that is like sonar on a stick. It has been discussed on this site many times. It used to be the Bottomline brand and now is the Humminbird brand Fish'nBuddy The most recent was: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/139432-attaching-fishinbuddy-to-sun-dolphin/
  3. TW had several lines test and mentioned one done by Shallow Water Angler. One of the TW ariticles compared all line types for stretch. Another was just about fluroocarbon compared to Trilene XL.
  4. Yep, did you recognize the numbers?
  5. That is one in the catagory that has the most stretch. 13% as compared to 6.3 % for the Shooter. The tests were done with similar diameter lines.
  6. Correct. Most other fluorocarbon lines have about the same stretch as Berkley Trilene XL. That is pretty patethic when some tout fluorocarbon has no or very little stretch.
  7. The Gold Navionics coverage has Champlain in HD if the data is current. Look at the Gold coverage map on the Navionics Web site and then zoom in to Champlain. Read the product desription about the bundle packages. http://www.navionics.com/en/gold-bundle
  8. All of Barkley and Kentucky is on the Southeast version. All if Barkley and part of Kentucy is on the Great Lakes version Check the list of waters on their web site for each region..
  9. PM sent for source
  10. http://www.trojanbattery.com/Tech-Support/FAQ/Maintenance.aspx Read Sulphation section 6 in this article: http://www.powerstream.com/1922/battery_1922_WITTE/batteryfiles/chapter10.htm
  11. No you don't unless you turn the battery over and spill out some of it.
  12. Never EVER add acid to raise the fluid level in a battery ADD DISTILLED WATER.
  13. Both have good products and are not "better" than the other. Each has their performance advantages depending what you want in particular. Garmin, and Raymarine have good stuff too. I have used all four brands over the years. I presently have Humminbird units with Side Imaging because they perform for my needs. You asked the wrong question. You would want to know is what products would work the best for your fishing style and types of water you fish.
  14. I use my electronics to find fish and then I fish for them. Before I started using sonar, I used my fishing equipment to find the fish. I am a lot more efficient with catching using electronics.
  15. To create the "arch" affect, that takes time and distance of a fish within the sonar pulse. If you watch the sonar tutorial on the Lowrance web site, it will show you an illustration of it.
  16. Yes, that is a consideration. PM sent
  17. I have seen situations where a trailer hook attached to a trailer hook is needed. Even using a treble hook for a trailer hook when smallmouth fishing.
  18. Good point. It just won't take long to feel that heat, LOL
  19. The Side Imaging pulses "see" from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides. Since the transducer is submerged, the side-to-side coverage is more than 180 degrees. Your hull type and outboard mount type will determine the best location. One more thing as far as the Down Imaging transducer on the trolling motor. You should use the correct transducer for the application (trolling motor puck) instead of adpating the transom transducer for TM mounting. If you don't know what that means, send me a PM.
  20. Battery not fully charged. Loose or poor connections. The motor has the same watts no matter what the voltage is. When the voltage drops, the amps increase.. When the breaker trips, quickly feel along the wiring path for HEAT. That is where the problem is.
  21. I use the Uni-knot to snell a hook since I am very familiar with that knot. I use that knot for all connections except a drop-shot rig, then I use the Palomar knot.
  22. I do it with Humminbird equipment, you enter the transducer depth below the surface when you upload the recordings to the Sonar Chart server. The "accuracy" is what you make it. For freshwater, you need either Navionics Hotmaps Platinum (regional) or Navionics+ software to participate in the Sonar Charts program. You would need to have a Raymarine unit that has the recording capability.
  23. When the battery is not being used, it should be fully charged as soon as possible, no matter what the use was.
