  1. Yep, use the same trolling motor plug and receptacle. Minnkota recommends the 60A breaker. Then all you need is the additional battery and a jumper between it and the other battery ot make it a series connection.
  2. Google is your friend: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/tanaka-tob300-3hp-outboard-motor-parts-c-34785_35022_35027.html
  3. No, a LCR 2D unit cannot record two different depths at the same time. What you have is a multiple of the same depth. Any depth can produce mulitple echos if your sensitivity is set high enough.
  4. Nothing unusual about showing mulitple bottom echos. when the unit changes depth ranges automatically. It looks like you have your depth range on manual or it just changed the depth range.
  5. All that "clutter" is probably plankton. It is typically on the bottom during daylight hours and rises as it gets dark, then decends in the morning. It looks somewhat like the thermocline when present. Reduce the Sensitivity setting to lessen its display.
  6. PM sent with FACTS
  7. The large transducer is the XTM 9 SI 180 T (Compact SI trolling motor puck) This is the HDSI transducer (XTM 9 HDSI 180 T) with the Transducer Shield and Saver mount.
  8. All these screen shots are with a bow mounted SI unit with a SI transducer on the bottom of the trolling motor. A couple of bass in a bedding area:
  9. If you have read anything about Humminbird Side Imaging, you would already know it is very common to have a Side Imaging unit at the bow with a trolling motor mounted Side Imaging transducer. Until I got the 360, I used Side Imaging at the bow 100% of the time while fishing and add other views occasionally. You are not going to find a good size color display model in the $400 range with any technology. Lowrance has 12" diagonal display models and Humminbird has 10.2" display models as their largest. You would need 4 to 5 times your budget for those.just to start.
  10. Spring time is when the 360 is king.
  11. You will still get some coverage on the tunnel/pump side since the SI pulses cover from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer. Yes you can select to only display one side of the SI view. When doing that, the displayed images are twice as large as when displaying both sides. The MSRP of a HDSI transducer is $270. If you shop at some marine electronics dealers, you can get it for less.
  12. I use the dual set-up often. I catch the most with the shakey head. A quality shakey head will have a sharp enough hook that it won't make any difference which lure they take.
  13. Yes, the dual SI transducers is the solution for your craft. The right side transducer would be the one that you have to mount so it will give you high speed depth reatings. If you cannot do that and can use a shoot-thru 2D for depth and 2D sonar, you can also add the XP 9 20 transducer inside the hull and the AS SIDB Y cable to the AS SILR Y cable to have all of it hooked up.
  14. If you only have one display and want 360, you have to get a Side Imaging unit. IF you are going to get two displays, one has to be a Side Imaging unit and the other can be a regular 2D unit or a Down Imaging unit then both can display the 360 view. The 360 is not a traditional plug in transducer, it is an Ethernet accessory. Traditional transducers plug directly into the display's transducer port. There are two styles of 360 transducers. One is a transom mount and looks like the Talon shallow water anchor. It has a deploy system to lower the transducer to below the hull bottom. The other is the bow model that clamps to the upper shaft of a cable steer trolling motor (designed for the Minnkota motor) but can be adapted to a Motor Guide cable steer trolling motor--I have that setup. Humminbird introduced a whole new model line for the 2014 model year. Check their web site. No Lowrance does not have anything like 360, they are trying with their Spotlight transducer, but it is not well received since it does not scan on its own like the 360 does. You have to do the scanning by turning the trolling motor (cable steer type) which seems to be a challenge to get a usable image. You would have three learning curves to overcome. Traditional 2D sonar, Side/Down Imaging, and the 360. You have to commit yourself to put in the time to learn them if you ever want to enjoy the benefits. Look at the posted images at the top of this topic to see what the deal is.
  15. That is a fact, I have lost several lures with the Speed Clips. Just by looking at the picture of the KVD clip, I can see it is a lure looser too--no thanks.
  16. Yes it will display the trees. I'll send you a PM with some more info.
  17. If you can't "drive over" parts of the lake, there isn't any sonar technology that will let you see "over there".
  18. That looks like one of the weeds similar to Hydrilla. There is another one that looks like it with subtile differences in the leaves. Do a web search for Hydrilla, and Elodea (Egeria), Vertical presentations (flipping, pitching) work the best to reduce lost fish and hangups.
  19. Never heard of them, but have seem them on the highway on tow vehices pulling campers.

  21. If you like what 800 kHz is showing, use that until it doesn't work well, then switch to 455 kHz if you need to. That depth is for you to determine buy learning your unit. Bottom hardness will change the depth capability since a soft bottom will absorb more than reflect sonar pulses. At any point just push the 4-way button to pause the screen scrolling and change the frequency and Sensitivity to choose which shows what you want to see on that particular view. Basically the depth capability is variable as in how deep is deep. I don't use 800 kHz at all. I prefer the wider coverage of 455 kHz in all cases. .
  22. The superline I use (Daiwa) is smaller than most other brands. The 40# is 8# mono equivalent diameter and the 30# is 6# mono equivalent diameter. Your reel only states how much 10# mono diameter line it will hold, it has nothing to do with any rating of the reel.
  23. I have the worse skin type for getting skin cancer. Red hair and blue eyes. I have a dermatologist appointment every 3 months. Sometimes I only get 20 or more places frozen and sometimes I get pieces of flesh cut off. Sometimes both. I have done the chemical peel, and acid/blue light treatment a few times. If you don't take care of your skin when young, you may go through the same stuff when you get older.
  24. If you stick the hook in far enough for the barb to have any affect, you will loose less. That takes minimal stretch line and a fairly stiff rod. That big hook limits penetration with wimpy equipment.
