  1. You can connect it to the TM battery, BUT the possibility of getting RFI from the trolling motor is high. Some do it anyway since an electric motor is their only boat propulsion. In your case, do it the correct way.
  2. Cranking battery
  3. For regular rod guide sizes, I use 6 turns on both lines. For micro-guides, I use 6 turns on the fluorocarbon and 8 turns on the superline-the longer knot gives it a taper that passes through the small guides better. Most of my combo line setups are 8# mono equivalent diameter superline and 20# fluorocarbon.
  4. Ambient light For me, the brown shows the best detail, but I cannot see it well in bright sunlight.
  5. Down Imaging from a Side Imaging unit with trolling motor mounted Side Imaging transducer.
  6. Hold the plug with the flat spot down and eliminate the center one. The positive conductor is the second one on the left side clockwise about 10:00 The negative conductor is the second one on the right side counter clockwise about 2:00 They are across from each other
  7. I fished it many years ago and then it was a hassle just getting the permits. The boat had to be inspected by the police. Don't know what the deal is now, not interested in going back. Access to the water was a lot better than it is now too. Caught more catfish than bass on spinnerbaits and plastic worms.
  8. Pelham is electric-only and permit required--- http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/waterbodies/display.asp?id=99
  9. Actually it is a cheap version of a Mojo weights kit.
  10. 8"-10" of a single strand of a stranded electrical wire bent double and some rubber bands. Push the wire through the slip sinker on the line and stick a rubber band in the wire bend and pull it inside the sinker. Cut off the excess.
  11. Yellow or Gold depending on the brand.
  12. Navionics has a product called Mobile App for smartphones and tablets. The coverage probably will not be available for small ponds though. You can view the maps on their web site to see if your waters of interest are included. It is their Web App.
  13. I use Navionics Sonar Charts and have uploaded about 200 recordings since that program was activated in the US. Typically I record some each time on the water. Just got an email today that the 4 recordings I uploaded the last time were processed and ready to update my software.. With Sonar Charts, they do the mapping creation and it is shared data for anyone to use. You can view the current Sonar Charts mapping on the Navionics web site's Web App. For inland lakes, either the Hotmaps Platinum or Navionics+ has the Sonar Charts layer once you do an update to add that map layer. If a body of water is not on the software, Navionics will create the zero line and apply the recorded data. If the shoreline of a particular body of water is inaccurate, Navionics will redraw the shoreline to apply all the recorded data that may have been shown on land on your unit. Typically maps obtained from "other sources" are not accurate. This map was done for a somewhat new lake where there was just land shown on the Navionics software: What that area looked like before Sonar Charts--same GPS co-ordinates
  14. The transom 360 is somewhat like the Talon shallow water anchor and hangs down below the transom far enough to be below the outboard lower unit when in use. The unit is $1999.99 MSRP. Would you lower that below the bottom of the boat and go through that timber?????

    .22 Long Rifle

Some places have it but you won't know they do unless you purchase a firearm in that caliber. It was that way when I bought a Ruger SR-22 and I was given a couple of choices for .22 ammo. I chose 1625 rounds in hollow point.
  16. Generally , the amp draw of a trolling motor is somewhat close to the max thrust rating. 40A used for one hour = 40AH. Divide that into the AH battery rating.
  17. The trolling motor version does not have the "deployment system", it deploys with the trolling motor. I am familiar with both versions and have fished with both versions. BTW, there is no such unit as the first one listed. The transom model is not suitable for some of the waters I fish, like this:
  18. There is no 360 Humminbird fish locator. All Ethernet capable Humminbird Side Imaging units (except the 1197) can use the Ethernet 360 accessory. Additionally all the Ethernet capable 2014 year model units can use it that are not SI units. I have the trolling motor mount version. Look at the posted images above.
  19. The one I am using is the best one at that time and place. That can be a different one at other times and places. I don't have a favorite. My "favorite" is whatever the fish's is at a particular time and place.
  20. Whether you fish from shore or from the water, briad is a good choice. You have the choice of breaking strengths with braid just like you do with nylon mono or fluorocarbon. If you choose a weak mono line, it makes no difference if you are on shore or on the water if you loose your lure in cover. If you use a stronger line, you may get your lure back. A savy fisherman matches his line to the waters fished and the species sort after. I have broken 50# and 65# braid when hung up lots of times. I have also broken off lesser strengths of superlines. I don't use monos larger than 20# rated, but have broken off with that also lots of times.
  21. One 12V bank is not going to charge a 36 V battery. Three 12 V batteries in series is 36V. A multi-bank charger is 12V per bank, there is no 36V output. You connect each bank to a battery and they get charged at the charger rate per bank at a little over 12V each.-typically 13-14 volts. It doesn't make any difference what device is connected to the batteries a long as they are separate or in series, it is still separate 12 V batteries changed individually.
  22. When considering the 360 transducer, there are two of them. The transom mount model is $500 more than the trolling motor attached model. How you want to utilize that accessory and with what trolling motor type would determine which you can use. With the newest unit software, you don't have to have two Side Imaging units to view Side Imaging and/or the 360 on both units. You can have a Down Imaging unit or a standard 2D unit and view those technologies from a SI unit. Technology sharing has been added to the 2014 models to parallel the capability that the ONIX units have. What that gives you is more technology for less cost.
  23. What works the best for me in the Summer/early Fall is the thermocline pattern. I check prominate bottom features where the thermocline intersects them. If fish are present, it is almost a sure catch. This is an example. The bass I caught are under the temp readout where the lake bottom and thermocline intersect. "Its so easy, a cave man can do it" Another example what to look for:
