  1. I have fished Briery Creek when it was 8' low during a drawdown to cut boat paths through the timber. The original gravel ramp was the only access.
  2. Pounds and 10" don't relate to each other. Ounces=yes.
  3. You hear and read about other products that can't do what Humminbird units do with their FishID setting. YES I use FishID all the time. I posted the screen shots to show that it DOES work and is a fishing tool. It should be obvious.
  4. There is a fishing pier and some fishing platforms at the gravel parking lot near the dam. The porta-jons at the parking lot edge are not exactly "restrooms". It will be hot and humid this weekend, those should be a real joy to use. The water level is getting close to about 3' low. Drawdown for vegetation growth until Spring. The only other "docks" at the lake are boat docks, one at the paved parking lot/ramp at the dam and the other at the paved parking lot/ramp on Rt. 701.
  5. Not for my use. They do the same. I have the BoatingHD on my iPad. Boating, BoatingHD, and USA on my Android devices. I use them for map demos and Sonar Charts Live. For actual mapping with sonar, I do it with my Humminbird sonar/GPS units.
  6. I fish on 2D sonar will show a lot better since it is within the sonar pulse for a longer period of time --exaggerated. Imaging uses a thin pulse so a subject will not be covered as long so it cannot be represented the same as 2D sonar.
  7. Imaging pings for every brand are very thin front to back and wide to the sides. Not inverted cone shaped. The thin pulses are somewhat like a CAT Scan that hospitals use. That is how imaging sonar can produce the picture-like images. Humminbird's SIde Imaging covers from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides-they overlap. You can tell you are directly above a subject as it will show on both sides of the SI view like this: Same brush/tree just on the left side: Humminbird SIde Imaging will show over 200' of bottom in less than 5' depths as long as the transducer is not buried in the bottom and the bottom is flat enough.
  8. I prefer a more sturdy mount for it made by Transducer Shield and Saver
  9. This is the XTM 9 HDSI 180 T
  10. The standard transducer for the 700 series and lower SI units is the Compact SI XNT 9 SI 180 T The trolling motor puck version is the XTM 9 SI 180 T The XHS 9 HDSI 180 T is an extra purchase and is the standard transducer for the larger SI units. That one is 6" long. It is also the same transducer as the XTM 9 HDSI 180 T, just comes with a trolling motor bracket rather than a transom bracket. It is the top of the line SI transducer for core units. The model of the transducer is on a tag on the cable about 12" from the plug. The HDSI transducer will produce sharper images than the standard one for your unit.
  11. There are several levels of maps. Some have a free trial period. Check the App Store for iOS and Play Store for Android. The BOATING app is the $10 one. BOATING HD is the $50 level. BOATING US and Canada is $15. Other parts of the world have their versions at several prices. There used to be one called USA. I've got several versions.
  12. If you want to use Lakemaster in your Helix, you have to use the 2015 issues. This is the first year Lakemaster has had the MSD size card and it is because of the Helix models. Lakemaster may or may not be more accurate than Navionics for a particular body of water. No opinion just fact. It would only be if the survey is Lakemaster High Definition, not the other two possibilities, LOOK at the Lakemaster Lake listing for the region you need to see if Lakemaster has any coverage at all that you need. Navionics is updateable and can have two map layers. Nautical Charts is Navionics data, and Sonar Charts is user generated data. You can view the current maps on the Navionics website's Web App. Navionics has used MSD cards since 2010. If you want to try Lakemaster for one body of water, you can purchase some individually with the Chart Select program. That takes an Encrypted memory card of at least 2GB in size to download the map to. Check the Humminbird Lakemaster website for the available waters for that program.
  13. I use four weights for Trick and finesse worms. First of all I use superline If I can get by with no weight, the hook itself is the weight 2/0 for finesse and 3/0 for Trick Next is about 4' of 20# fluorocarbon line to overcome the floating tendency of superline for a few feet of depth in calm conditions Next is a size 3d steel finishing nails for about 5' -10'depths Next is a 3/64 oz lead nail by Lunker City for current, wind, and depths to 30'. I have some 3/32 lead nails too if needed but rarely use them. I put the nails into the head of the worm rigged like my avatar.
  14. Those "waypoints" show up on everyone's app as Community Edits. There are nine of those in this screen shot from my phone: There is another one on this lake that has a note "Pig hang out" and has a fish icon.
  15. You don't need to adjust the water level unless your sonar does't match the map contours plus the transducer depth. I don't use the app for GPS data so I have never done waypoints. I have four sonar/GPS units that do that. You have to turn on the GPS function on your device so it shows where you are on the map.
  16. The Navionics website's Web App does not have any settings, just zoom and distance measuring. The Mobile App has adjustable water level, adjustable depth highlighting, adjustable shallow water highlighting, adjustable depth shading, waypoint creation, tracking, and zoom. With a WiFi sonar transducer, it can create contour mapping for Sonar Charts. Vexilar Sonarphone, Raymarine WiFish, Lowrance GoFree The free trial is the same as the $9.99 Mobile App. I have the Mobile App on 5 devices.
  17. The rod I have and use is as stated. What you never saw is irrevalant. Reading and comprehension 101 http://www.tforods.com/conventional-rods/gary-loomis-tactical-series/swimbait-rods.html#.Vdj7cK5qyIw
  18. Maybe you missed the part where I stated two 100 ah batteries is 200 ah. Those 200 ah batteries in series is 200 ah at 24V. That's four 100 ah batteries.
  19. No you don't, you get a total of 200 amp hours. Series only doubles the volts. Two 100 ah batteries parallel gives 200 ah capacity. Two 200 ah capacity batteries in series is still 200 ah. at 24V
  20. Do you have a fuse or circuit breaker between the two batteries? Most with any common sense will have a circuit breaker on the motor's positive wire at the battery/s.
  21. You don't get doubled amps, you get double amp capacity. The motor is the same load either way.
  22. Diagram sent in PM
  23. I have the Tactical 7' 11" Mag Heavy to use with umbrella rigs. Very light rod for its size. I did change the tip from the metal to a SIC
  24. Check your transducer cable for damage and/or do the power cord plug pin adjustment as described above.
