  1. Sure is, my preferred braided line. The Gold looks yellow to me, just not bright yellow.
  2. Most modern boats have one of two types of remote steering. The cheapest is the rack and pinion single cable and an upgrade to the two cable system for larger motors. Teleflex is the brand and Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops carry them. The easiest to install and most expensive is hydraulic steering. SeaStar is the brand.
  3. Of the polyethlene braids, Spectra is a trademark of Honeywell International. I can't find out who is the mfg of MicroDyneena or Dyneenma using a web search. Those fibers have more or less taken the place of Kelvar in the manufacturing of ballistic fabrics.
  4. There is not such thing as "good enough" when it comes to boating. Don't settle for anything less than the maximum HP it is rated for but do not go over that because if an accident occurs, you are liable for having an unsafe boat by overpowering your boat and it will be treated as such by insurance companies, lawyers, and jurys. With the max. HP, you can get on plane faster-saving fuel, run the engine at 1/2 throttle and get better fuel mileage than a lesser motor run WOT going the same speed.
  5. Excellent advice Garnet, and probably the most important.
  6. It depends on what the water temp was before it got to 50. If it is warming up to 50, then moving baits will work well. If it is cooling to 50 then slow bottom bumping bait would be the best choice. If the temps have been steady at 50 for several days then a slow worked moving bait will be the best choice (suspending jerkbait).
  7. After trying several brands, the XPS is my choice in several pound test ratings from 6# to 20#. I see no reason to try any more brands.
  8. Do a Google search for Reese hitches.
  9. You can get the receiver hitch for less than $200. It should be the 6,000# rating with a 2" receiver. Then you need the lighting harness which may range from $6 to $50 depending on the hookups and plug. Another $40-$50 for the ball, pin and mount. Add labor if it's not a do-it-yourself job.
  10. Easy remedy, when the "New and Improved" version is introduced, do not upgrade the present version if you now have Vista. I seems that each new version of Windows just included more spy software from Microsoft. The numerous " Windows Update" popups are getting rediculous. There are lots of virus and spy protection products on the market that work very well without Microsoft's interference.
  11. I do keep records, but can't find my records prior to 1985. Since then though I have averaged 1,162.95 per year with my highest count being in 2007 at 2,537 and lowest in 1995 being 686.
  12. For steering, if you just troll, the electric steer is OK, if you cast and want good control in current and wind, then the cable steer is what you want.
  13. Yes, to you second post.
  14. CORRECTION. I have another set up with 4 wires. I just looked up the model number you stated. With that plug which has three connections, the 12/24V hookup uses a jumper at the batteries also. Just pick a matching pair of connections at the plug and receptacle and a jumper at the batteries and you will be OK for 24V.
  15. Just chose what two connections to make at the receptacle and match those two with the plug. Eliminate the plug jumper and jump at the batteries. The plug jumper is normally used when your set-up is a 12/24 volt trolling motor and you have 4 wires running to the receptacle.
  16. The most productive for me is the Zoom finesse worm rigged wacky. They are not my favorite, but are the bass's favorite, I just give them what they want. 2000+ bass last year said so.
  17. Fiskars work well and are cheaper than the braid scissors, the blunt point small scissors like elementary school kids use. Available just about anywhere school supplies are: Walmart, K-Mart, Target, office supply places, and drug stores.
  18. You might want to consider putting a clear coat on them before getting them wet. All of the ones I have that were packaged like those got cracked finishes just from getting wet. A couple were just dipped in water to see if they were defective and cracked in a few hours. Whatever finish is on them let water penetrate into the wood and the wood swelled. I gave up sending them back for replacements.
  19. I had my C3 upgraded with ball bearings on both ends of the level wind. S-M-O-O-T-H I also have a C4 and did not like the high gear ratio, so I had the gears changed to 5.2 and level wind bearings installed too. Not quite as smooth.
  20. Owner Stinger Trebles ST-36---- Available at Bass Pro, Cabelas, Dick's, and Green Top in Richmond, Va.-those are where I get mine.
  21. With the site address I posted, just delete the slash at the end and it will work. I just did a copy/paste of the site when I was on it and the slash was part of it. Thanks for the reply.
  22. osbornj2, PM sent
  23. I am testing the Spiderwire Invisi Braid in 30# now. I have it on spinning gear for wacky fishing. I am not sure I like it as the finish is so slick that after catching a bass, the next cast won't go very far because the line has dug into the spool. I have to pull off some line and reel it back on to make a decent cast. I have not had that problem with any other braid or fused line. Maybe with some use it will behave better, that remains to be seen. I do like it's above water visibility.
  24. Owners for me too.
  25. osbornj2, if you fish were the bass are, that swimbait will be just an anchor, LOL.
