  1. The reason I asked is after the unit comes back from Humminbird and reloading the software was the fix and if the same waypoints are loaded again, it will happen again. It has to be returned to get that fixed, just don't break it again.
  2. Has any waypoints been loaded to the unit that were edited or from another unit?
  3. If ponds and small lakes are your primary waters, the chance of having contour mapping available is very low. I would guess your guessing is wrong. No mapping is 100% accurate. Data is collected in intervals and contour lines are filled in between those data points (interpolated). No regular map product has accurate data for every square foot of terrain. The Navionics map products may have the most coverage countywide and worldwide. Go to their website and click on the Web App. Those maps are current as of yesterday. Find the body of water you navigate on.
  4. What brand of battery size 27 did you run 5 hours on high using 50 Amp?
  5. When I had a 10' riveted jon boat, I used 24V bow motor with it. No such thing as "more than enough". Enough is when you run out of funds and space.
  6. I use 6# mono equivalent diameter and 8# mono equivalent diameter superlines on all of my spinning rigs. The breaking strength ratings go from 20# to 40#.
  7. I just act like I have caught a fish before. Don't say anything.
  8. If you get a DI unit for the bow/trolling motor, exchange the included transom transducer for the trolling motor PUCK version. That transducer for the Helix 5 or Helix 7 would be the XTM 9 DI 25 T. The PUCK version has extra internal shielding to help with possible RFI issues from the trolling motor. Bottom line is use the correct parts for the application. If you have a suitable hull for a shoot-thru installation, you can use the transom DI transducer as a shoot-thru. The pictured DI transducer is standard for all the Helix DI models as well as all the discontinued number series DI models.
  9. It depends on what models you have now and what sonar technology you want to purchase. No simple answer without that information. Also do you intend to stay with Humminbird equipment?
  10. What two motors on the transom are you considering?
  11. Mine are at least that old. I had some in the plastic bottles that I never opened and kept in the house and they were a brick in just a few months.
  12. I had some Mend-it that was in the plastic bottles will have the solvent evaporate through the plastic. My last two purchases have been in glass bottles and they have not done that.
  13. A "Bank" is a connection to a battery. Three banks for three batteries.
  14. If is worth the price if you need digital map software to help you navigate and look for potential fish locations. That is up to you to determine.
  15. When you select SI or DI the 360 is not used, the unit uses the connected transducer. That is if you are not using 360 for SI and DI. You will see SI or DI start a fresh screen since they were off and there is no recorded history. I am not familiar with all the functions of the transom model. The sonar functions for the trolling motor and transom versions are the same. The deploy system is different.
  16. What do you consider as Western Tidewater?????? The last time I looked at a map, the tidewater area was on the East coast. Richmond has the most western tidewater and that is the James river below the falls in Richmond.
  17. The 360 uses 455 kHz. The two Side Imaging units also use 455 kHz typically. The unit that has the 360 View displayed turns off SI/DI. The other unit still is broadcasting SI/DI so they are cross-talking. The view you have selected does not turn off the other sonar functions. When you have 2D/Chart displayed the Imaging pulse is still being broadcast. To stop that, select one of the transducers as the source for Advanced and Sonar in the Ethernet menu of both units. This is cross-talk from another 360 unit:
  18. There is another brand like Cocoon, they are Fitovers. I have the amber, and grey lenses versions.
  19. It will increase the size from top to bottom on the view--more pixels recording the subject. The Range setting sizes the returns left to right. That is also a good technique to spread cover apart some to see fish returns within that cover. This a line of 8:-10" dock posts with the unit set to display them larger: This is bridge support columns that are about 8' in diameter: Now what do you think a 3" tree is going to look like in comparison?
  20. Are you using Switchfire Clear????? What battery are you using for power to the Helix???

  22. The only way to get that small stuff to be recorded so it is noticeable is use about a 20' SI Range setting, and a Chart Speed at least double the GPS speed. Also with that small screen, display one side of the SI view so the subject will be displayed double the size. A 3" subject of any type takes up the same amount of screen space including a minnow.
  23. I have a Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS on the bow of my Tracker PT 170 TX. I had an ONIX 10 SI there before that and a 1198c SI before the ONIX. I use the D size RAM with the base aft of the bow light socket.
  24. I did the same thing, started with a Humminbird 798ci SI Combo, and that convinced me to get more Humminbird Side Imaging units with larger displays. All you need to know is how to adjust it so it is a tool at the console and at the bow.
