  1. I use the 5/0 Skip Gap hooks and rig them straight. I have no problem with them spinning. Placing the hook in the bait on the center line and rigging them straight should solve your problem.
  2. The inside cable is a very hard metal so just crimping the stud on with hand tools will not secure it long. I suggest that you use a file and make some shallow groves in the cable in a couple of places to give the stud a surface it can grip.
  3. The scheme is also being used via e-mail with references to several different banks including Bank of America. It's called phishing. Don't bite and get caught. The last time I got one, I fowarded it to the FBI.
  4. What do I do for a living? Already did it, now living retired.
  5. I use both in both locations. On the console, I get instant depth readings at speed with the flasher, and I can get a bottom contour recording with the graph. On the bow, I can stay on a breakline with out moving around a lot with the flasher, and I can fish at the level of suspended fish better with the graph.
  6. LBH, have you seen the color line-up that Spike-It has? Getting close to the rainbow. I limit my multi-color selection to two groups-colors that I can see for sight/bed fishing and all others. In actuality, none work any better than any other.
  7. All of my wrapped rods are left orientated including the Erhardt (Bud and Eadie) models.
  8. I've been in several tackle shops that sell BPS labled products.
  9. Get a couple of these, wear one, keep the other in your cooler, and alternate after a few hours. http://www.officialcoolcollar.com/
  10. Gammy, Octopus 3/0-----I get mine from Dick's Sporting Goods, or Bass Pro Shops. The # 02413 is the black nickle color
  11. I have several, some are custom and some are mass produced.
  12. 30# braid for topwater 65#-80# braid for frogs and Carolina rigging/16#-20# mono and fluorocarbon 50# fused super line for spinnerbaits/Chatterbaits/buzzbaits 16# mono for crankbaits 8#-10# fluorocarbon for light dropshot, splitshotting/mojo rigging 20# fluorocarbon for heavy dropshot 20# or 30# braid with 14#-20# fluorocarbon leader for wacky rigging finesse and Trick worms 14#-20# fluorocarbon or 30# braid for Tx rigging and jigs 17#-20# fluorocarbon for swimbaits 14#-17# fluorocarbon for Super Flukes and Senkos
  13. I have several digital cameras. The one I take fishing is a mini-DV video camera that does videos on tape and stills on SD cards. It has a remote control so I can take pictures of fish with me holding them. I just set the camera up on a homemade monopod that I have attached to the transom of my jon boat, turn the screen towards me to compose the picture and take the picture with the remote control. When I fish in my bass boat, I use a regular camera tripod held on the back deck with strong bungee cords. This is an example of one I took-------
  14. I did just that this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. I use a 5/0 Gammy Offset Shank Round Bend Worm Hook. I didn't catch any over 5# though.
  15. Small hooks? All the bass I have caught that weighed over 9# were with the same hook style but in the smaller 2/0 size. They will not straighted out with any force you can apply with fishing tackle. Here is a 2/0 Octopus hook catch-----
  16. Slomoe, no laws including gun bans are going to influence the behavior of a criminal. Murder is against the law, controlled drugs are illegal, robbery is illegal, etc. The added possession of handguns by lawabiding citizens in D.C. will lessen those crimes since the criminal may have to pay the ultimate price for their chosen profession. A concealed carry permit will lessen it even more. D.C. has been a perfect example of "when guns are outlawed, the outlaws will have guns."
  17. I am guessing your knot tying technique is the problem. I use the uni-uni knot connection with no problems. It is VERY important to tie the knots S-L-O-W-L-Y and LUBRICATED. That goes for any knot type when joining braid to mono/fluorocarbon. Friction is the killer for fluorocarbon. If you are using Vanish Fluorocarbon, change brands.
  18. A wacky rigged Zoom finesse worm or Trick worm after the surface water temps get above 45 degrees.
  19. The satellite updates are free to get quicker lockon for TomTom units. It is called "QuickGPSfix" and is recommended to be done weekly. The first 30 days after you start using the TomTom is when you get the free map updates that take the "code" that is contained in the information sheet.
  20. Gammy Octopus Hooks 3/0 #02413. You can do a hook set with those. I use them for Trick worms wacky style also.
  21. I go early and stay late. I catch the most and the biggest around mid-day.
  22. Must be ESP, I was on the pattern for the past two days. I used a 1/4 oz.
  23. I am hunting with a weapon and with my camera. I don't hunt for the meat anymore and will not settle for an animal that is less than I have already taken. I have only seen one with a better rack, but it was too young (in my opinion). I am not doing my part in the population control of deer. Even if I take one, the meat would be donated to the Hunter's For The Hungry program. We have way too many deer, but I just don't care to fool with them anymore. I participate in archery season, muzzleloading season, and the general firearms season with rifle or pistol. In Va. if you are with someone that is hunting with a weapon, then you are participating in the act of hunting. If you go alone with a camera and no weapon, then you are not hunting and it would be no different than taking pictures of deer along the roadside, in a zoo, or park during any part of the year.
