  1. The pre-occupation with atmospheric conditions seems to be more for an excuse for the lack of success than it is for the successful fisherman that adapts to all conditions.
  2. Here is the part number and applicable model numbers for a Minnkota prop: MKP-6 PROP NO.: MOTOR DIA.: PROP NUT KIT: #2061125 3-1/4" A 35A, 35TA, 40TA, 65TA, 35T, 50T, 50MXT, 65T, 555T, 555TA, 565T, 565TA, 30AT, 33AT, 36AT, 36AT/H, 365T, 365TA, 365TMB, 765T, 765MXT, 765MXTA, 865T, 865MXTA, 665T, 665MXT, 30EX, 36EX, RT27/S, RT36/S, RT40/S, RT40/SC, 40PD V2, 36PD/C, 36PD/AP/C, 40PD, 40AP, EDGE 40, EDGE 40/H, ENDURA 30, ENDURA 34, ENDURA 36, ENDURA 38, ENDURA 40, ENDURA PRO 32, ENDURA PRO 38, 40AT, 40AT/H, MAX 30T, MAX 36T, MAX 40T, POWERMAX 30, POWERMAX 36, VECTOR 40 According to sneaker's "theory" the thrust rating of the motors is a lie and your boat won't go any faster with a 12V motor if you get the highest thrust rated motor instead of the lowest thrust rated motor. I wonder why my jon boat is faster with a 55 than it is with a 36? I can tell the difference by the wake it makes and the rate I pass stationary objects. I haven't done a GPS speed comparison, but it doesn't appear to be any reason to do so.
  3. Since I caught a bunch of bass yesterday wacky rigging, I can tell you the equipment I was using. 3-6' medium action spinning rods 1-6' 6" medium heavy action spinning rod 1-6' 6" medium heavy action baitcasing rod 1-6' medium action baitcasting rod
  4. Yep, the catching was pretty good today also since all the storms are gone. Mid day was the most productive time out of the 12 hours and 5 minutes I fished.
  5. I have a .44 mag revolver, I can't imagine the noise it makes going off inside a trailer even if using shot loads.
  6. Ok, I'll suggest some-Zoom Finesse Worms in some of the watermelon with flake colors.
  7. Just on the news was some shots of Iran's missle tests with a comment from them about using them against American bases and Israel if prevoked. A popular statement that originated in a move came to mind when I heard that."Go ahead Punk, make my day"
  8. Harsh, huh? Is there some other terminology that applies? Poaching is not only the illegal taking of game and fish, it's the attempt to take them in an illegal manner. Using an illegal motor in the pursuit of fish is just that. It has nothing to do with how fast one can go or how unsafe it may be. sage, I've read some posts from those in Pa. that expound on their sticker changes, the one I can recall was the president of a bass club. That is really something to be proud of. I remember his statement about the raising of the HP limits and how he was going to get a bigger motor than the new HP limit and do the sticker changer on that one too. Yes, lots of persons drive over the speed limit, but that does not make it legal. Thanks for setting such a fine example for the youngsters that visit this site and those you are personally involved with.
  9. Yes, you are correct Dougherty. A missing one would really do the trick, then it might be considered stolen and altered. Those that use the sticker changes and whatever else to try and get by with using larger engines on limited HP waters are poachers.
  10. CMC makes a heavier duty model also. PT 130
  11. sage, are the water patrol officers in your area too ignorant to know the difference? The limited HP lakes that I fish have game wardens that know to check the data plate on the motor when doing their safety/license checks. If they notice that someone is moving about faster than they should be with the proper size motor, they will make the effort to check it.
  12. If you have slipping problems with heavier weights, just use two of them.
  13. I rig them backwards when fishing in weeds. The slender end comes through the weeds better than the blunt end.
  14. I have a 12' jon boat. For electric only lakes, I use a 56# thrust bow mount and a 55# thrust transom mount. For HP limited lakes, I remove the transom mount electric and put on a 9.9HP gas engine.
  15. The Fluke and Sluggo are both soft jerkbaits, fish them the same way.
  16. Jigging spoons is the only application that I use them.
  17. I have the Cabela's 8X24 Water Proof Long Eye Relief model. I wear eyeglasses too.
  18. If you look closely at the boat transom, you will see that the motor has a jet pump and the boat hull has the tunnel conversion. Very common for river fishing.
  19. I didn't see the attempt, but I did find the evidence. The last time I fished Hunting Run Lake, I saw a 2 1/2" diameter bobber just under the water's surface, and when I pulled it up, there was about 4' of line attached to the bobber. On the end of the line was a large salt water size brass snap swivel; attached to the swivel was a 1/2 oz tandem spinnerbait.
  20. Another thing you might want to add to your arsenal: stronger hooks. Gamakatsu has some called Super Line hooks, they can stand the pressure you may exert better than regular wire hooks.
  21. The best advice anyone can give you when first using braids is to not use a violent hook-set like you do with monos. Just a quick wrist movement instead of arm movement is all it takes. All of your rod movement is transferred to hook movement and too much movement, too violently will tear the hook out and or damage you or your equipment. A lighter action rod or looser drag will help.

  23. The Abu Black Max and Silver Max are carried by Walmart.
