  1. In rainy conditions the fish are usually shallower, less spooky, and easier to catch. Adjust your presentations to allow for it.
  2. Marine batteries are built with the jolting in mind for on the water and trailering. Your batteries should be held down by clamps or straps so they will not bounce from their position and move with the boat hull. Adding shock absorbers may be a good idea, but not necessary. Adding a thick soft padding under the battey may cause it to move around even more than just sitting on a hard surface.
  3. http://www.iboats.com/Resettable_Circuit_Breaker/dm/cart_id.118168925--list_time.1222449657--session_id.445663704--view_id.39690 It protects you boat and trolling motor wiring just like a circuit beaker will keep your house from burning down due to an overload or short circuit. The 40A should be the correct size. If your boat does not already have one on the positive side of the trolling motor battery and a lower amp size on the accessory circuit of the starting battery, put one in each location.
  4. Harvesting small bass is a good practice. This sign is posted at a public lake that I fish a lot:
  5. I use either a Duo Lock Snap or Norman Speed Clip if I anticipate changing lures a lot. If I am fishing around big fish and cover, I just use a loop knot formed from a uni-knot. I don't trust the hardware for heavy use.
  6. The feathered treble slows the side to side wobble a little due to resistance, but the fish love it. It kind of gives the action of a jointed Shad Rap.
  7. You are correct about the boat rentals at Motts, that lake is a city lake and the other two lakes are county lakes. The operating dates may be a little different, but I doubt it. A permit for Motts included Ni before Hunting Run was opened, now Ni and Hunting Run are together on the permits and Motts is separate.
  8. I heard this again on a fishing show today "Fish On"
  9. basspro48, try the XPS. On another fishing web site during a fluorocarbon discussion someone said Toray was the mfg of the XPS fluorocarbon line.
  10. They are not VMC, they are Owner Tournament Trailers made with Owner Stinger Treble hooks.
  11. Ni Res. is closing on Oct 13th along with Hunting Run. Both are operated by Spotsylvania County.
  12. I use them on the back of size 100, 200, 300 Bandit cranks, and Baby One Minus always and occasionally on Traps.
  13. Here is your solution, it is called a boat dolly: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0029941017441a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=boat+dolly&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=10&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&Go.x=14&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1
  14. I use the uni-knot of all fluorocarbon connections except one with zero knot failures. I use the Palomar for a dropshot rig and avoid as much line stress as possible when bringing in a fish but still get breakoffs with the 8#. The brand of fluorocarbon I use is XPS in 8#, 10#, 14#, 17# and 20#.
  15. Learn how to PROPERLY tie a knot in fluorocarbon line. Use the proper knot for fluorocarbon line. Stretch has nothing to do with it, they have the same or more stretch as nylon monos. Friction during knot tightning is the killer with fluorocarbon.
  16. I use similar presentations a majority of the time. Using low resistant, low weight presentations, you will experience that sensation. The fish will add the feel to it when they take it. Be a line watcher for strike detection.
  17. You may want to chek out Hunting Run Lake before it closes on Oct. 13th. You need a permit to fish it, available at the lake. Check the Spotsylvania County web site for information.
  18. Something closer to a 4:1 ratio for deep cranks, around 5:1 for medium to shallow cranks, and about 6:1 for lipless cranks.
  19. Most Winter draw downs are done for flood control with the anticipation of heavy spring rains.
  20. I catch the most and the largest with a wacky rigged finesse worm. There is no luck involved, its establishing a pattern and using the presentation that the bass respond to.
  21. Obviously you have never fished with a DD22 for a few hours or you wouldn't be asking that qustion.
  22. Pre-Chinese Bandits, Fat Free Shads, Rapala DT series in shad patterns
  23. mobydick, I have a Honda TRX300. I got it for deer hunting and its the first time I have done extensive trail riding. We rode a total of about 130 miles in a day and 1/2. Most of the ATVs in my group were 4WD. A couple had trail bikes, and one rented a Rhino to carry his young daughter. Some of the towns in the area allow those vehicles on the streets and highways. We rode 1 1/2 miles down the highway to get to the beginning of the trail system from the place we stayed.
  24. I visited the ATV trails in West Virginia for the 1st time this past weedend. It was the Hatfield McCoy Trail system. On the website for the place we were staying, it had pictures of groups and individuals from all over the country. Have any of you been there? In a period of about 10 minutes you could be hot and sweaty, or wet, or muddy, or dusty, or comfortable temps.
