  1. If you have a Sam's Club near you, they have the Natural Gear Ultra Rain Suit that is the same material and about 1/2 price of the Frogg Toggs. They only have the jacket and regular pants, I didn't see any sets with bibs. I got a couple of sets for guests. With that material it is better to get a size larger to lessen the seam stress whether you get bibs or pants.
  2. Another lake that has some large bass in it is Ragged Mt. Res. My largest caught there is 8-15 and I have seen several larger ones as the water is usually clear with 15'-20' visiblility. edited: I fished there from the shore for about 2 hours today while checking for beds and caught 8 bass. I only got about 1/2 way around the lake and quit as a thunder storm was approaching. I made it back to the vehicle just as the rain started. Not many beds yet.
  3. The longer buzzbaits will stall in mid cast more than the shorter ones and give you the dreaded semi-professional over-run. I have some custom made long ones.
  4. I catch the most from shore in the cove next to the beach below the volley ball court. Mid day seems the best time. A wacky rigged finesse worm is all I use there and is what I caught the 10-6 and a 9-0 on consecutive days just across the cove while fishing in a boat.
  5. There are lots of bass in Chris Green lake and some big ones too. My largest there is 10# 6 oz. I caught some Sat and Sun. just fishing from shore for about an hour each day checking the status of the spawn before I take my boat there.
  6. Weedless wacky
  7. Nothing less than 30# braid and at least 50# for the frogs.
  8. That electric motor is cheaper than these: http://www.qis.net/~jmgraham/prices.htm I saw one of the Reservoir Runners in use yesterday on an electric only lake. One person I know has two of them on a Carolina Skiff.
  9. In the Zoom brand the difference is 1 1/4" The shape is somewhat the same.
  10. I still have some Zorro Aggravators. One of them is hanging in the mouth of a mounted 9# bass I caught 4/19/1975. Tandem chrome Colorado blades with a yellow vinyl skirt.
  11. Clean Gore-Tex fabric will remain waterproof because of the very fine weave fabric. Layered rain gear has an outer layer that is not the Gore-Tex fabric and that is what you think has lost it repellant quality. To restore the outer layer, the product recommended by Gore-Tex garments is called ReviveX. That product, when applied correctly, will make water bead on the surface again as long it remains clean. Dirt, oil, grease, sunscreen, etc on the outer layer and inner layer of Gore-Tex fabric will allow moisture to penetrate as it acts as a wick.
  12. The main thing about fishing equipment for women is the rod handle size and overall weight. Women usually have smaller hands than men and a smaller handle will make their fishing experience more enjoyable.
  13. Do any of you remember the HOT bass lake a few years ago that had 30# bass in it that were either speared or netted, but no one had caught one that could be counted as a world record due to the method? http://honduras.com/hondurastips/english/lakeyojoa.htm
  14. It can be as complicated or as simple as you want. You can have a 21' bass boat with 50# of spinnerbaits in all sizes, colors, shapes, and blade conbinations, drive 50 miles on a large lake and catch a 2# bass. A 5 year old girl with a Dora Explorer rod and a beetle spin can catch a 10# in the neighborhood pond from shore.
  15. Since I've fished 23 days so far this year mostly in a weedy timber filled lake, I'll summerize. I started with a Chatterbait and Trap when the water temps were in the 40's and just added a weedless wacky rigged Trick worm as the water warmed up into the 50's and low 60's. Those lures worked all thru the day with the Trick worm being better as the spawn gets closer. 333 bass so far this year, with 18 between 4# and 6#, and 1 over 7#. I've been using the same line size as it makes no difference as far as water color-it's based on the cover and potential fish size.
  16. Probably the number one reason is because the fish are shallow and a spinnerbait is a good choice for a shallow horizonal presentation to cover a lot of water. It more or less represents baitfish and the bass are agressivly feeding as the water warms up in preparation for the spawn.

  18. Did you put braid on it without backing or tape on the spool?
  19. The powerdrive motors are suitable for trolling where quick direction adjustments are not needed, but for precise boat positioning and control in wind or current the cable steer motors are WAY better.
  20. dave, just put the glue on the deck and cover it completely. The glue will seal the wood. The Tompsons Water Seal may prevent the glue from sticking because it is silicone.
  21. Any mat you put in the boat is going to weigh more than boat carpet.
  22. The top producing hollow body frog for me in getting hits and hooking them is the Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog. Much better hook-up ratio than the Spro. To make the hollow body frogs "walk the dog" cut off about 1/2" of one of the legs. Use braid to avoid pulling the nose down with sinking line as with fluoro or nylon mono.
  23. The console with steering wheel is to operate the transom motor. Lots of pontoon boats in my area use that motor. A stick steer is not conducive to a raised deck boat.
  24. Spinning reel use: never, ever close the bail by turning the reel handle. Always close it by hand. That will eliminate 99.9% of spinning reel problems. With braid, since it is so limp, watch for the line getting wrapped on the drag adjustment knob for front drag reels. If at all possible depending on the presentation, close the bail without slack line.
  25. Any braid is better than any mono on spinning gear. A lot more tangles are experienced with monos. It's a line memory thing for those inexperienced with braid use.
