  1. I use them and the fish seem to like them. That is good enough for me.
  2. Just another friendly reminder, DO NOT discard line anywhere, recycle it.
  3. I only retie when it gets too short from hook retying or if it gets roughed up. I start at about 4'-5' and replace at about 2 1/2'. I use the uni-uni knot connection.
  4. When I need a wide gap hook for thick baits, I open the bend a little to expose the point more for surer hooksets. I also use the superline model because the wire is heavier and has less give which may be a cause for lost fish due to flex. The longer the total length of the hook wire, the more flex it will have.
  5. If you added about 100 more horse power, a stainless prop with more cup may be of benefit. There is not much "take off" with an engine that small. If you are having problems with low rpms, get a prop with lesser pitch.
  6. Zoom Trick worm with a 3/0 Gammy Octopus hook Zoom Finesse worm with a 2/0 Gammy Octopus hook Senko with a 4/0 Gammy Weedless Finesse Wide Gap hook Approx 2800 bass in 2008 with the Zoom worms
  7. The 11.6 is the diameter in inches of the prop. The 11 is the pitch in inches which means IF there was no loss of traction in water (slip) the boat would move forward 11 inches for each rotation of the prop.
  8. May be a good swimbait reel matched with the proper rod for the weight of lure used.
  9. *** has some 1 oz models soblures.com has 1 oz and heavier
  10. DawsonH, it was not a couple of bass that first time, it was dozens of bass in several locations during about 8 hours of fishing. I have duplicated that experience several times with different persons fishing with me as a result of the same conversation. I was using OFF spray repellant. The sunscreen experiment (Coppertone SFP-50)was even more dramatic as using it out-produced several "attractants" including Megastrike.
  11. Well having red hair (still have some left but mostly gray/white) and blue eyes, I have the most sun sensitive skin type. I don't tan well and burn very well. I apply SPF 30-70 sunscreen when I am going to be outdoors for other than a short time. I also use the Columbia SPF rated shirts, one of their wide brimmed hats (sometimes), and their slacks (sometimes). All my life I have been involved in outdoor sports ( hunting, fishing, golf, skiing, etc) and now I have to see a dermatologist every 3 months to get pre-cancer spots frozen or cut off (occasonally some are cancer). My numerous freckles are just about equaled by white scars from those removals. Waterproof, oiless, Coppertone is the brand of sunscreen I use. 40-60 years ago it was not a concern by many, but should have been.
  12. I used Amsoil HP Injector when I had a 2-stroke 150HP. Some may not want to use it in a new in-warranty engine since it is not NMMA or BIA certified. It may be the best 2-stroke synthetic oil marketed and it is "recommended" by them for TCW III applications, but it is still not certified.
  13. Last Wednesday I used about 30 of them in three colors rigging them weedless wacky. Watermelon/Red, Moccasin Blue, Junebug/Red
  14. WRB, I did the insect repellant test last year after a similar thread to see if it was true that repellants with DEET will deter bass from taking a soft plastic lure. It did not and I caught several after spraying it directly on the lure. I did the same with sunscreen and it had no negative affect either. Those substances may deter laboratory kept bass but not wild bass in their natural habitat. I have a Thermacell and it works fine if there is no wind (which is rare). You need to have still air for the vapor to remain around you, otherwise the down wind side of you (in a gentle breeze) will be insect free and the upwind side will get attacked. They work well for camping in a tent where you are shielded from wind. edited: another note-if you are fishing in a boat and moving, you cannot keep the vapor cloud around you as it takes a while for it to form and expand. Bank fishermen may benefit from it's use though.
  15. A cheaper and more solid suggestion. Get one of these and just use the transducer you have if the bracket is the only thing broken and the wire is intact: http://transducershieldandsaver.com/home/
  16. Why do you not like applying bug spray when you are ready to fish?
  17. Check craigslist in your area, you may find what you want at good price.
  18. For precise control a cable steer is better. For trolling, the electric steer may be better. It depends on how you fish and the species you target.
  19. The LEI Structure Scan add-on for the HDS units is supposed to be "officially introduced" at ICAST.
  20. Way2slow, have you read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act? Do you know of any motor mfg that "requires" the use of their brand oils for maintaining the warranty? (Name one) Do you know of any motor mfg. that has denied a warranty claim based on oil brand? From the Mercury Service and Warranty website: http://www.mercurymarine.com/serviceandwarranty/outboardfaqs/fuel.php#8 Some non-motor brand outboard oils are more expensive than motor brand oils with the same qualities. Does that make them better?
  21. Dixon, the diameters of those lines are 6# or less mono. Certainly you would not use 6# mono when fishing spinnerbaits and plastic worms (guessing medium heavy rods). Small diameter braids have very little shock strength. Backlashes when casting spinnerbaits or violent hook sets with Tx rigs will snap those small lines. You should use at least 50# superlines for those applications with baitcasters (12# mono diameter) and back off on the hookset motion and drag setting.
  22. Dixon, what pound test braid are you having breakoffs with? My guess is that you buy the line accordng to the strength rather than the diameter.
