  1. I still have a purchased new Johnson Century and Citation. They are not very sturdy and have a very low gear ratio. Both still work very well though--yep--I'm old.
  2. Waypoint number 123
  3. I started with the blade/shave cream/bleeding cuts deal. Switched to a parallel cutter type electric, and now am using one like you pictured. I prefer the rotary. I lost my "peach fuzz" about 50 years ago.
  4. Daiwa Procaster size 120 or any other model with the same or higher gear ratio.
  5. Since I have been using foot controlled bow mount trolling motors on jon boats and bass boats since the early 1970's, I wouldn't pay anything to replace my foot on a trolling motor foot pedal. My foot works very well in giving me precise and instant boat contol whether in wind, current, or calm.
  6. That is where I found the best price for the 798ci SI that I purchased last December. No tax and free shipping.
  7. I make my own lake topo maps for new lakes somewhat like that. A site that allows me to do it is acmemapper.com I set the scale, print the satellite photo of the lake on plain paper, then without changing any other settings, I switch to the topo view and print tthat on a clear translucent sheet. I then put the clear sheet over the satellite photo and have the two sheets laminated. The downside to that is land topo maps are typically 10' contours, but it is better than nothing. This is part of one I did of a lake that has no fishing topo map available.
  8. I haven't seen the article since I am not a subscriber. The editor is sending me a few copies though.
  9. You don't need to "download" PHOTOBUCKET. Just go to their site, join, and put your photos on your page on their site.
  10. For Senkos, I use a 4/0 #01414 or 5/0 #02415 Gammy Octopus hook. For Trick worms I use s 3/0 #02413 Gammy Octopus hook. For finesse worms, I use a 2/0 #02412 Gammy Octopus hook or a 2/0 Owner Mosquito hook.
  11. I already had the power cord (came with the unit) with the built-in choke and a couple more of them without the choke ( for the Matrix 97 I have ) so I already knew that did not solve the RF issure. After I added the TM choke, and that didn't work, I used the power cord that was sent, just in case the original one was different--didn't fix it either. Those ferrite rings are for the cables with an Interlink set-up also. The unit I had RF interfenence with is the 798ci SI and only got the interference when using Side Imaging 455 khz. The RF interference is a random occurrence with any model and make of trolling motor and the remedy is varied. Some remedies cause even more interfence such as the one suggesting adding a wire between the trolling motor negative and the unit power supply battery negative--that made mine worse After you install your chokes and it doesn't take care of it, send me a PM and I have a bunch of other things to try.
  12. webertime, thanks for the comment on the bushing in the Sahara. I just bought one without checking the bearing count and location as compared to the Sedona which I have 4 of. I just checked the parts list and exploded views for each. I only use spinning reels for finesse presentaions and was not concerned with bearing count, just the gear ratio. I'll get a bearing to replace that bushing. I use superline on all my spinning reels, but I set my drags closer to the mono line diameter rating rather than the superline strength rating.
  13. When you get a new starting battery, get a Dual Purpose type and a size larger than you use now. Check the connections often and keep them clean.
  14. From the specs for each product, the combination of Stabil Marine Formula and Marvel Mystry Oil is the same as Sea Foam. That would give you the choice of using two products or one product to protect your fuel system and engine.
  15. I have two of the former "new improved" plastic bottles. The one I kept in my boat locker is as solid as a brick and the one I keep in the house is still a liquid. It works great if it stays a liquid.
  16. Thanks, I got the chokes but not any of the ferrite rings. Here is the TM choke installed on mine
  17. RF chokes do not affect the sonar processing signal from the transducer. What parts were sent to you? I have delt with that issue also.
  18. SO, does that mean if I put 5 ounces of Sea Foam in an empty gas can and add 5 gallons of gas, the first drop of gas gets "activated" and none of the other is? But if I put 5 gals of gas in the can and then add 5 ounces of Sea Foam, then all of the 5 gals of gas is "activated". How does the bottom of the container get "activated" without agitation? If the "activation" is "instant" how can the amount added after the first drop contacts the gas affect the whole 5 gals.? "Instant" does not allow for any mixture time to occur.
  19. I saw a jet drive outboard motor setup last week where the only modification was adding a jack plate without increasing the transom height.
  20. JohnnyBigger, explain the "instant activator" statement. Seafoam deals with the moisture problems due to E-10 also.
  21. A couple of friends of mine fished there Friday and told me about the windy conditions. They didn't do very well since they didn't know the lake like I do. With the lower water level, it is very easy to fish when it is windy, just hold the boat againt a stump or tie up to one near the channel edges and fish down wind with the rod tip held just above the water. When the water level is at the normal level, I just run the boat up on a stump to hold in place when it is windy so I can fish an area without all the trolling motor disturbance. It was very breezy most of the day when I fished there Wednesday and the heaviest presentation I used was a 1/8 oz shakey head. I didn't take any pictures, my largest was 7# 7 ounces. Too hot to hold them out of the water for weighing and picture taking.
  22. Did you read the label on the Sea Foam can? It does the same as Stabil, Startron, Quickclean, etc., Use it all the time every time. Double the mixture for storage.
  23. It's another one of the myths that fishermen use for an excuse when they don't catch bass with their favorite presentations and won't try any other presentations. The same goes for wind, cold fronts, time of day, water temp, etc.
