  1. A circuit breaker is sized to the wire that it is hooked to, It is to protect the wire. A circuit breaker or fuse that is too large just makes the wire the failure point (aka FIRE hazzard)
  2. Senkos 3/8" Finesse and Trick worms 1/4" Hook shanks 1/16" or 1/8" don't remember Trailer hook eyes 3/16" Get an assortment pack from Radio Shack so you can see all the sizes.
  3. You won't be getting data at the bottom like with the 1100 series you pictured. Yours will be on the left side of the screen.
  4. Go into the Setup tab and then to Select Readouts. Choose which position you want the temp to be displayed and choose Temperature from all the possible selections. The transducer has to be hooked up for that, it cannot be done when not attached. You may have to set the User Mode to Advanced to get the Select Readouts menu.
  5. Just buy another mount and secure that to the little boat wherever it is convenient for you to operate and see. You would just need another power cord then install the power cord plug and transducer plug in the mount cable collector. Just a snap-in and out between boats. I did that with my 798ci SI to use it between the console and bow. The mount part number for the 798ci SI is MSM, the mount part number for the 798ci HD SI is MS 700E. The power cord is PC-11.
  6. It produces several 9-10# bass during the Winter. A 10# was caught there last week. There was a tournament on the lake this past weekend posted on another web site.
  7. Well you tried to not catch many using a Circle hook. Any open gap hook will work, but I use the Gamakatsu Octopus hook. Its short like the Circle hook so it resists bending like longer shank hooks do. I use the 2/0 #02412 for finesse worms, the 3/0 #02413 for Trick worms, and 4/0 #02414 for Senkos. I catch over 2,000 bass each year wacky rigging, mostly rigging it weedless. Check my avatar.
  8. For regular 2D transducers, the Transducer Shield and Saver is best since it is metal and surrounds the transducer and uses a hose clamp for attachment. Check their site for the proper model for your transducer. For the SI transducer, the Wee Vee is more of a bottom contact protector and the Transducer Shield and Saver is a sturdy mount. A combination of the two is the optimum protection. I fish in stumps almost every week and cable damage is the most concern since the cable going around the motor exposes it to side impact. The solution to that is this:
  9. If you are just using the unit mfg trolling motor adaptor for a transom mount transducer, Transducer Shield and Saver has a mount to use that transducer or if you break off the part on the transducer that attaches to the mount, the Shield will work with that also. They have one for the puck style also. There is another protector available also ----Wee Vee. This is a Humminbird Side Imaging transducer mounted with the Transducer Shield and Saver:
  10. BobP actually knows the fluorocarbon deal with baitcasters, It weighs more so you need more braking to control overruns.
  11. Aluma-Bass, thanks for asking. I visit this site almost daily and multiple times during those days. I comment when appropriate.
  12. I fished there Thursday and Friday. I'll PM you the revelant information. I won't be going again until tomorrow.
  13. Daiwa Goldcast, I have several for inexperienced angers that may fish with me.
  14. Do you have stuff that is powered all the time like a Lowrance GPS antenna, LSS-1, etc. ? Have you checked the connections at the battery for corrosion and tightness? Did you charge the battery after the last use, or did you assume the motor would changer it?
  15. The logical location of the GPS antenna is near the transducer. That way when you want to save a waypoint of something you found with sonar, the waypoint will be exactly where that something is. If you are hesitant about drilling more holes in your hull to mount the antenna. try putting it under the deck in the rear compartment next to the transom. You can also just use silicone to glue it to the hull. If you want to put it under the deck, test the reception buy hooking up the antenna and looking at the GPS Diagnostic View with it above and below the deck to see if there is much signal loss. Compare the HDOP and Est Pos Error numbers at each position.
  16. I'm familiar with your hull. If you have the 150 HP motor and USE it. There is no place on the transom to get satisfactory on plane depth readings. That means you will need to add another transducer as a shoot-thru or use the one you have now for on-plane depth readings. Then mount the SI transducer next to the right side of the motor mount with the bottom of the transducer even with the hull step. It will be out of the water when your are on the hull pad WOT. The SI/DI will work great at the appropriate idle speed for scanning. Something like this---------
  17. Correct Al, now I remember a guy in the bass club I used to be in that kept doing that with his Champion. NO, I wouldn't ride with him if he was going to do that.
  18. Yes, I have one for the Humminbird 700 series units. Works great, BUT don't depend on the velcro strips to hold it on when trailering. Its kind of expensive for such a simple product though. I didn't pay for mine. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/WayneP_photos/Sonar%20Shots/Raptor2.jpg
  19. Catt, one boat company a few yeara ago used the 180 degree spin to promote their perfromance. I don't remember which one (maybe Champion). I've seen a trimmed out Bullet skip like a rock across the water while spinning around. Didn't look too safe to me though, LOL
  20. The best ones are the ones that are not mass produced and a dealer doesn't have parking lot full of them. If you want one of them, you pick from the one or two they may have in stock or you have to order it and wait for it to be constructed. They don't sponsor tournaments or pros. and have a loyal following. Allison is one of them.
  21. Some guys mount the transducer between the motor and transom if there is space (like with a jackplate). If not it is mounted beside the motor mount. Your particular needs depends on your boat hull type and construction as well as its speed capability. There is no one size fits all with the SI technology. I don't remember if we discussed your boat before when you were deciding on getting the unit. Send me a picture of your transom looking from behind the motor slightly off center and from one side of the transom across the transom at the bottom level so I can suggest a mount location. purdum43@aol.com
  22. Smallmouth bass catching machine. I use the Strike King 3/16 oz. in that color for smallies. If you can't find that combo, make it yourself with a number 2 1/2 and number 3 blade. Use a trailer hook in #4 treble. Hold your rod tightly so the smallmouth won't take it from you.
  23. If you get a Lowrance DSI unit, no it will not cross talk with your 522. If you get a Humminbird DI unit, it will cross talk with your 522 since it has 2D sonar as well as DI.
  24. I have seen some boat's rigging of GPS units with the GPS antenna hanging under the console with a plastic wire tie on the antenna cable to the boat wiring harness. Whatever works for you is all that is important.
  25. This model has the least drag and still does the job. http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/product/Hydro-Stabilizer
