  1. That mount will work with the Humminbird Matrix, 300 series, 500 series, 600 series, and 700 series at least. The transducer is similar to the dual beam 2D sonar XNT 9 20 T for all the above Sonar models. The transducer cable is attached in a different place so it is older. Look for a label on the transducer cable about 12" from the mount. It may be a Quad Beam transducer.
  2. Just do a web search for "understanding sonar" or " how to interpret sonar" and you will get lots of videos to view.
  3. Sure is, just take a pair of pliers or file to eliminate the barb. Buy any lure available and make it like you want. I fish with barbless hooks and don't purchase barbless hooks. I have the manual dexterity to make them that way.
  4. Put a metal or plexiglass plate over the dash hole and make a bracket to attach to it and use the Helix 9 on the dash. I have used a Humminbird Helix 5, Helix 7, 798, 1198, ONIX 10 and Helix 12 on my Tracker dash. I removed the gas gauge to get a mount surface and have it setup to use a RAM ball mount or unit gimbal mount. This is using the Helix 12 This is with a 1198: This is using the RAM before I had the bracket made. Not strong enough for rough water though and what I used with the Helix 5 and Helix 7
  5. Yes the MEGA imaging frequency is the real deal -- 1.2 mKz or 1200 kHz. The MEGA SI units are very recent releases so the general public use of them is limited. What I have seen posted is equal what the Humminbird employees and pro staff are getting.
  6. That is common when warm turns to cold. If you close the vent and the weather cools, the gas vapor takes less space and will collapse the tank. Keeping the vent open will prevent that. The less liquid gas you have in the tank, the more that can happen.
  7. Those are from the Humminbird website and what the big box general sporting goods places sell for. Yes, you certainly can get them for less from a place that doesn't have all the overhead of the big stores.
  8. Some Humminbird units: 1. MSRP of the Helix 7 SI GPS is $699.99 2. MSRP of the Helix 7 CHIRP SI GPS G2 is $699.99 3. MSRP of the Helix 7 CHIRP SI GPS G2N is $799.99 #1 is discontinued and should be on close out sale with dealers.
  9. You were checking a 24V circuit with the meter setting at 20V. With some cyphering, 24 is 4 more than 20=higher than the meter scale, and 24 is less than 200 so the 200 scale will read the 24 V. You choose a voltage scale that has the voltage you are checking.
  10. I asked about what boat you have to see if you have an older fiberglass boat that was rigged for a 12/24V motor
  11. Since no one has mentioned it yet, use fluorocarbon line. It weights more and will give you more distance after you get your reel adjusted properly.
  12. If you don't have an adjustable trim stop as a bar or lever. You can still get full use of Humminbird Side Imaging with a dual SI transducer setup. SI is Side Imaging and a Humminbird trade mark. Put a SI transducer on each side of the outboard and connect them to the display with the AS SILR Y cable (for non-MEGA units). There is a MEGA SI version also. You would get left side SI from the port transducer and right side SI/2D/Temp from the starboard transducer. If you get a copy of Side Imaging, those companies may have a similar setup. Depending on the Humminbird Side Imaging model, some come with the Compact SI transducer that is shorter than the HDSI and needs less clearance past the outboard and would not be an issue.
  13. Describe the connections at the batteries. What boat do you have?
  14. Sure with two clumsly overweight people it is definitely not a standup rig. You need hull width to have a steady platform for a high center of gravity.
  15. The SI pulses have to "see" left and right to function. Your motor should have an adjustable trim setting to allow for different transom angles. Just set that so you get the transducer side clearance. That is what I do with my Merc 9.9
  16. As long as the fins are not left or right of the side imaging pulses and the transducer face is below the level of the hull bottom, you will be OK. BTW if a Total Scan will work with the system, the MEGA SI will also except the mount itself will be different.
  17. The MEGA SI transducer is way larger than what is typically used with a kayak. It is 7" long and 3" wide. "Lowrance Ready" is not even close. To get full use of Side Imaging, the transducer has to be lower than the bottom of the hull so plan you mount arm length accordingly.
  18. When I had a 12' jon boat, I used a 24V bow trolling motor and 9.9 HP gas outboard. Both batteries and gas tank at the transom. Typically had at least two sonar units at the bow. Did the same before that with a 10' jon boat I had but with a 2.2 HP gas outboard.
  19. Once the unit's memory is full, you can transfer the data to a Zero Line Card and get 8 more hours. You can also just leave the Zero Line Card in the unit and get several lifetimes of contour mapping. The unit then writes the data directly to the card. The card has millions of shorelines (zero lines). Lakemaster is a different product of preloaded contour maps.
  20. Yes, there is a Humminbird Chart menu tab to operate it. You get up to 8 hours of contour mapping to the unit's memory.
  21. Does the unit have current software?
  22. Another option if the unit you are getting will be just a 2D unit, is to attach it to the bottom of the trolling motor just like those do with bow mount motors.
  23. No, I don't purchase that style worm.
  24. Trick worm: Finesse worm-- has a slight "football" tail also: Their Shakey Head worm has a tapered tail.
  25. The Zooms: About 2" in length and slight diameter difference. The Trick will have a larger "tail" at the end. I use 1/4" heat shrink tubing with both for the rigging in my avatar. The Berkley worms are more than just plastic.
