  1. I've worn Maui Jim's with prescription lenses for over 6 years now, and absolutely feel that they are worth the money. I had laser surgery done a couple years after I originally bought them, and replaced the lenses in the original pair the following year after missing them terribly. Since then I have bought a second pair of aviator style so that I have a pair in both of the vehicles. I use the wrap arounds while fishing but have considered getting a dedicated pair of amber lens sunglasses for lower light situations. (my gf claims I have a problem since I have $1000 total in two pairs of sunglasses and still want to buy another pair or two) There are several cheaper brands out there recently which I have wanted to try out. Has anyone tried the Shady Rays glasses yet? I was also looking at Spy, which I can get at a 50% discount through work.
  2. I was having issues with this with 15lb Invizx, wetter when tightening the knot and not cinching it down as tight fixed it for me.
  3. ^ this... one of my best days of fishing this past summer started out with 4 bass on in 6 casts, and by 930am I was just taking pictures of trees and docks along the river. Enjoy time with people you care about, fishing is just waterboarding bait. I'm not nearly the fisherman I was at ten with a broomstick stiff rod and brittle mono (or even a cane pole)
  4. And then it was 63* and climbing three days later... too bad we can't arrange for it to snow during the week and have today's weather on the weekend when I can wet a line. 8" of snow to 67* and back to freezing rain and snow on Saturday again...
  5. Did you ever get a weight on the nails you were using? Curious how they compared. Seeing drywall screws suggested elsewhere...
  6. Great looking baits! For shad dots my buddy uses binder hole reinforcement stickers to make them uniform and circular. And vacu-formed stencils for the different patterns, cut out with a dremel.
  7. Usually in my truck I keep 3; my 7' MF Spinner, 7' MH and 7' M casting. Just in case I want to stop on the way home from work and wet a line. At the usual ponds "between" work and home I will carry just one of the casting rods (depending on which pond it is) but at one of the ponds I will carry along my spinning rod in case I want to waterboard a senko. I try to keep my combos not all at one spot so that the gf doesn't notice that there are three more this month then there was last month.
  8. Broadkill River east of Milton DE last weekend, the Stripers are in town Custom silver lipless crankbaits... Medium baitcasters make catching these a lot of fun.
  9. Hello all, I'm a recent return to fishing, having taken the past 17 years to waste time bowling, drinking, and shooting pool (not necessarily in that order). I was spoiled as a child to have two stocked ponds in the backyard to catch LMB, hybrid bluegills, and the occasional crappie. My PB comes from when I was 7 or 8 years old, 23" 7+ lb largemouth from one of those ponds... I have started getting back into fishing this spring and summer, and have to say the bug has me again. I'm always looking for a way to be better at what I do, which leads me here... Vern
