  1. Had a really good day on Sunday in the buddy tournament I fish. 13.94 lbs anchored by 4.08 lunker, all five were mine, and all 5 came on @Siebert Outdoors brush dredge jigs with rattle band. The 3 lber in my partner's left hand absolutely choked a natural craw with green pumpkin sapphire rage craw, the rest were on blue craw with rage craw or Bizz baits cutter craw in one of their blue flake dual colors. Lost the blue craw jig deep in a lay down an hour before the end of the tournament, then culled out a 17 inch fish with 20 to go. It's an awesome feeling when it all comes together and they are crushing what you throw.
  2. Most of the ponds are not very bank fishing friendly, Newton pond near greenwood is one of the better ones, or the pond at the forestry service headquarters at Redden near georgetown. The state parks (trap and killens) offer rental boats, and some bank fishing. Wagamons has produced the last 2 state records, I have seen a 7+ pulled from there and Concord in recent years in tournaments I have been in.
  3. Sorry it took so long for you to get a response, not many of us from DE on here. Did you find bank fishing while you were visiting?
  4. that was how my Christmas present arrived from amazon (Diawa Tatula 721 hfb) my gf had no idea what she'd ordered, so she didn't question the fact that it was 4' long in a 7 1/2' box... amazon took the return, and I got the replacement from sportsmans outfitters for $20 cheaper. That one was in a tube
  5. ugh, just what I needed this week... I guess a branch fell over the weekend, because my truck hasn't been anywhere other than in the driveway.
  6. I think what I have the ned tied on right now is a 5.5 or 6'M lightning rod shock, 1000 series "mr crappie" from lews with 8lb invizx, but it might be on the cabela's tourney trail 6'M with a 2000 series Kastking Summer spooled with 10lb Yozuri hybrid (don't tell my gf, it's her rig). the first rig the spool of line cost as much as the rest of the combo, and the other is about $70 right now not on sale.
  7. should be just in time for our "spring break" Lake Anna trip
  8. or any neko rig for that matter. I prefer #2-#1 finesse wide gap on wacky rigs, but will go as large a 2/0. Sometimes I use an o-ring, other times not. I haven't seen much if any difference between the two, other than the 4-5 seconds it takes to pop an o-ring onto a new senko.
  9. I think you'll find siebert outdoors on the top of most people's list around here. See link to right in the sponsor section. I haven't been on the water to use them yet, but I just ordered 7 jigs from them a month ago for $28.15 including shipping.
  10. I was informed this morning that I'll be working the event this year instead of just spending money there... so stop in and say hi! I should be the only fella with "Vern" on his shirt (if the one they ordered fits this time)
  11. my buddy's tracker had a really small livewell in it as well, we used something like this https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/johnson-pump-ice-chest-aerator and a chest cooler to supplement the regular one, especially on really hot days.
  12. DE (resident) MD (non resident non-tidal/bay&coastal), and VA (non resident one day) looks like I'm doing the same states this year, but because of our lake Anna trip in April VA will be the 7 day license.
  13. biospawn exostick (red bug) weightless wacky rig on 1/0 gammy weedless finesse wide gap...
  14. it's that time of year again, if you are on or near the eastern shore come check this out!
  15. i have a pair of the spiderwire ones, I think I paid $5 for them off of walmart clearance rack. I bought a pair of Shadyrays last year as well (I think I paid $28) but didn't care for the fit, so I gave them to my gf's stepdad who really likes them
  16. that's what I was hoping! Of course the reel is up at the shop for winter maintenance, so I can't even put them together and play with it yet. Jonesin to get it out on the water and give it a spin it should be just over 10oz together, I may have to actually add butt weight to be comfortable with it lol
  17. I wasn't planning to purchase anything until Feb-March, but I got this for Christmas along with a 2nd KK Stealth (I will show off the combo once I get it set up) and then the $50 TW gift code (which only cost me $29 more on the order of mostly hooks and jigs) I took 6 reels up to the shop for winter cleaning/service so another $5 for a bag of "whack-em sticks" in smoke/black now this morning I see the Siebert jig of the month, so there's another 7 jigs coming. The monkey is strong this week... Now about the WP 110, sigh. Where is that DSG email?
  18. I will not buy any more fishing... yeah, I have to have it. I guess my gf will understand that when the package comes with new jigs. Maybe I can pass them off as decorations for the remodel
  19. I thought that was my position lol I failed miserably at this, but you get what you pay for...
  20. @BASSEDOUT, being from DE you can't be far from Smyrna, stop in and talk to Kenny at Red Mill Tackle, he has always been more than happy to discuss rod building and specs, wants, etc. I try to get up there just to bs around from time to time, as there is a wealth of knowledge in the heads of the "older" fishermen that (usually) is free for the asking. Every time I go in there I learn something. If you're from downstate too far to feel like driving up there you can catch him at the fishing expo in Laurel on Feb 3rd. There is a shop over outside of Denton MD that builds rods as well, but I don't have any first hand knowledge of their work.
  21. it has met all expectations, and I got a 2nd one for Christmas. They are both at the local shop for cleaning/oiling currently. There has been some talk about the drag washers on some of these being install wrong at the factory, so the Kenny is checking that out for me too. I have had zero issues with this reel, or the KK Assassin that I got a few months later. Imo it is a very nice reel for the price point, probably as good as any until you spend at least twice as much. The issues that I have heard about on here or in conversations about the KK reels are the drag washers (easy fix) and some being shipped dry (easy fix) or with a large amount of grease in the gearing (easy fix). I have my original still on the M vendetta, and the new one will be on the Diawa Tatula 7'2" HF that I also got for Christmas, will be my jig/texas rig combo. (between the two the total weight is 10.1 oz, so I may actually have to add butt weight to it)
  22. my goal was to not buy soft plastics until I use up 1/3 of what I have currently (already 3 separate purchases since 01/01... ooops) so, what I want to do this year fishing: 1) catch one over 5 lbs again (maybe on Lake Anna Easter week!) 2) get my fishing partner out of the house more often (he almost lost his hand in Sept to a nasty infection) C) stay relaxed on the water, and use what I know to put fish in the livewell
  23. We have 2 Bassets, very large bassets... Tripp: the younger and larger is 5-6 Cowboy: the older, whinier, slightly more active is 8-9 They like to be involved in activities like opening Christmas gifts: Other than that they like to try to sneak human food (showing me how he's not at all interested in the reese's cup behind my coffee cup)
  24. we were camping down at the shore this weekend...
  25. so I haven't been on much the past two weeks, and haven't even been fishing in 3 weeks, but we're all moved in, and making a dent on the honey-do list. Have a cash tournament this weekend, maybe the final tournament of my year. Before: After: Starting to look like someone lives here again.
